The Texas Republican Convention began under a “Unite to Win” banner but ended with many delegates still standoffish toward Donald Trump and mourning Ted Cruz’s exit from the Republican presidential race. ...According to WBNG in Binghamton, 15 New York towns in the southern tier of the state are considering seceding from New York and joining neighboring Pennsylvania because of Gov. Andrew Cuomo's fracking ban. A local group called upstate New York Towns Association is examining whether such a plan is possible, and if it's worth the cost. James Finch, Conklin Town supervisor, told Capital New York that "everybody over the border has new cars, new four-wheelers, new snowmobiles," because of the stronger economy in Pennsylvania, which allows fracking.

The European Union’s executive Commission said Monday that membership in the euro bloc is “irrevocable” but left it open to what extent Greece could renegotiate the terms after elections on Jan. 25. For the past few weeks, as Scotland debated the wisdom of independence, Reuters has been asking Americans how they would feel about declaring independence today, not from the United Kingdom, but from the mother country they left England to create. The exact wording of the question was, “Do you support or oppose the idea of your state peacefully withdrawing from the United States of America and the federal government?”

Eleven of the state’s 64 counties placed a measure on their Election Day ballots for voters to decide whether to pursue secession. In six counties, the measure passed by mostly wide margins, the The Denver Post reported. The push is unlikely to succeed. Those who are talking about secession should shift their focus to calling for a new fair presidential election that does not allow use of the type of touch screen computers involved in election irregularities in various locations. Americans should copy the citizens of other countries who call for new elections when their leaders engage in election fraud. Alternatively, Congress could trade establishment of a special prosecutor for election fraud for a tax increase. The allegations of vote rigging are far more significant than the Watergate burglary that was investigated by a Special Prosecutor. President Barack Obama probably was not involved...

All these petitions at the whitehouse.gov website asking for states to secede.....it's just silliness. I mean, I agree with the sentiment, but really? You're going to create an account, give them your name and contact info at the whitehouse.gov website and sign something that says you don't like the federal government? Does anyone remember Obama and his secret "kill lists"? It's just silliness, I say. Does anyone think Obama will actually care what these petitions say? Texas Gov. Rick Perry does not support a petition for the Lone Star State to secede from the union. But a lot of people do. The online petition asking the federal government to allow Texas to withdraw from the U.S. following President Barack Obama's reelection has nearly 100,000 signatures. It appears on a section of a White House website called “We The People" and cites economic difficulties due to the federal government's inability to cut spending. Supporters suggest that secession would protect Texans' standard of living and "re-secure their rights and liberties."
