ABC has posted the first eight and a half minutes of its upcoming reboot of V, the alien-invasion series that kicks off on Nov. 3. Not much we haven't seen in promos before, but the clip introduces the main characters briefly before getting right into it: The arrival of 29 ginormous alien spacecraft over the major cities of the world, including New York.

I was watching college football on ABC and they had a new spot for the remake of V. (I am of the generation that fondly remembers the original). I am paraphrasing but they had the hot alien chic say the following and make these promises: 1: "We will Cure your diseases". Doesn't Zero, Biden, Edwards, etc promise stem cell research from aborted babies or cloning promise cure for every disease we face. 2: "We will bring peace." The Noble Prize Committee awars the Peace Prize to Obama just because he talks about peace and eliminating nuclear arms.

The upcoming re-imagining of the alien invasion series "V" looks set to bring a modern spin on the classic tale, but that doesn't mean it will forget its roots entirely. I was 11 when the original miniseries "V" was aired, and I vividly recall the commotion. Especially for a small screen production, it was very well done. I was a little young to understand the political statement that it made, but I am very happy (and more than a little surprised) to see its return now. The original series was a comment on the dangers of Nazi totalitarianism. They came with apparently benevolent motives, to help the human race improve its place in the universe. They spoke directly to the youth and charmed them with their message of hope and...

So you may have heard that ABC is doing a remake of the 80s television miniseries, "V". Trailer is at the link above. What's interesting is the angle: Devotion is the weapon, a carefully crafted message from the Visitors of Change and Hope. And a good-looking, charismatic spokeperson, with demands for a perfectly controlled image. I wonder if ABC realizes JUST how subversive it is, especially as the bloom comes off the Administration. It's even identified by a single letter. And, of course, the bringers of Change and Hope are hiding their true face, and have sinister ambitions. Sound familiar...

V: Remake of the classic alien-invasion miniseries plays in the trailer, weirdly, like an allegory of the Obama election: aliens come to Earth, promise "hope" and "change" (words actually used), inspire cult-like devotion, but have creepy intent and are secretly lizards. Casting is underway for ABC's attempt to remake "V," and already has attracted some known names from science-fiction. But the latest casting move could have "Lost" fans worried about one of their favorite blonde characters. Actress Morena Baccarin is about to invade the planet earth. She has been cast in a lead role on ABC’s upcoming remake of the 1980s invasion series V, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Baccarin played the Ori leader Adria in the tenth season of Stargate SG-1, and in the DVD movie Stargate: The Ark of Truth — which will make its U.S. television premiere in just a few weeks.

India has put all of its major airports on high alert after receiving threats that planes may be about to be hijacked. Airport security has been tightened and travellers are being asked to check in three hours before their flights.
