ABC has posted the first eight and a half minutes of its upcoming reboot of V, the alien-invasion series that kicks off on Nov. 3. Not much we haven't seen in promos before, but the clip introduces the main characters briefly before getting right into it: The arrival of 29 ginormous alien spacecraft over the major cities of the world, including New York.

I was watching college football on ABC and they had a new spot for the remake of V. (I am of the generation that fondly remembers the original). I am paraphrasing but they had the hot alien chic say the following and make these promises: 1: "We will Cure your diseases". Doesn't Zero, Biden, Edwards, etc promise stem cell research from aborted babies or cloning promise cure for every disease we face. 2: "We will bring peace." The Noble Prize Committee awars the Peace Prize to Obama just because he talks about peace and eliminating nuclear arms.

In the world wide web and in the publishing world, there are conspiracy theories going about concerning topics from the Kennedy assassination, aliens, 9/11 being an inside job, Chariot of the gods, a book claiming that extraterrestrials influenced the ancient world, and corporate control over government. While some present some truth, some are fantastic and even fictitious. One such theory involves ancient history and a belief that we have not been alone in the universe for sometime. British Author and Green activist David Icke has compiled a series of books claiming that since the dawn of time, Earth has been...

No Chance of a 'V' Recovery This is an interesting recession. In the past I have postulated the various possibilities of the type of recovery we would face – L, U, V, or W. The theory is that the deeper the recession, the more pressure exists to drive a recovery – hence a “V”. Even though the coincident data did not support a “V” recovery, leading indicators did. But data this week has destroyed the belief there is pent up demand or any other bull tendencies raging. The possibility of a “V” recovery has been taken off of the table....

Naomi Wolf is going back to her roots. The journalist and author, who has seemingly been on a break for the past couple of years from writing books on the kinds of feminist themes that made her famous in the early 1990s, has signed on with the Ecco Press for a project tentatively titled A Cultural History of the Vagina. Ms. Wolf was represented by lit agent John Brockman. Neither was not available for comment. In her last three books—one a memoir about her father, the other two polemics on American politics—the author has departed from the area of expertise...

The upcoming re-imagining of the alien invasion series "V" looks set to bring a modern spin on the classic tale, but that doesn't mean it will forget its roots entirely. According to SciF Wire, the series is considering bringing in some of the show's original stars, and they already have some names in mind. "Jane Badler has approached our producers and has been in touch here and there," executive producer Scott Peters confirmed. What's keeping the writers from integrating her into the show though isn't a lack of enthusiasm, but instead the need to give her, and any other original...

Almost as if Lou Dobbs had taken over the network, ABC plans to debut a series in the fall about aliens who come to Earth promising "hope," "change" and universal health care, but who actually want to infiltrate our government and our businesses and, to that end, have rallied the country's youth behind their nefarious campaign. Morena Baccarin plays the good-looking, charismatic leader of the Visitors, one remarkably knowledgeable about human culture and media manipulation. The series is called "V" and it's a re-envisioning of an old miniseries... "V" is debuting on Nov. 3...a.k.a. the one-year anniversary of Barack Obama...

I was 11 when the original miniseries "V" was aired, and I vividly recall the commotion. Especially for a small screen production, it was very well done. I was a little young to understand the political statement that it made, but I am very happy (and more than a little surprised) to see its return now. The original series was a comment on the dangers of Nazi totalitarianism. They came with apparently benevolent motives, to help the human race improve its place in the universe. They spoke directly to the youth and charmed them with their message of hope and...

So you may have heard that ABC is doing a remake of the 80s television miniseries, "V". Trailer is at the link above. What's interesting is the angle: Devotion is the weapon, a carefully crafted message from the Visitors of Change and Hope. And a good-looking, charismatic spokeperson, with demands for a perfectly controlled image. I wonder if ABC realizes JUST how subversive it is, especially as the bloom comes off the Administration. It's even identified by a single letter. And, of course, the bringers of Change and Hope are hiding their true face, and have sinister ambitions. Sound familiar...

V: Remake of the classic alien-invasion miniseries plays in the trailer, weirdly, like an allegory of the Obama election: aliens come to Earth, promise "hope" and "change" (words actually used), inspire cult-like devotion, but have creepy intent and are secretly lizards. Maybe I'm reading too much into it. But it has potential to be Glenn Beck's new favorite show.

Long Odds? Three Scenarios for the Economy's Path By DAVID WESSEL There is no doubt where the economy is now. "By any measure, this downturn represents by far the deepest global recession since the Great Depression," the International Monetary Fund declared Wednesday. But there's more than the usual uncertainty about where it is going. The key is the U.S. Even though its slice of the world economy is smaller than it once was, it's still huge. The U.S. led the world into the abyss, and it will lead the world economy out of it. But how fast and when? The...

Casting is underway for ABC's attempt to remake "V," and already has attracted some known names from science-fiction. But the latest casting move could have "Lost" fans worried about one of their favorite blonde characters. Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello says Elizabeth Mitchell, who plays The Other's Juliet on "Lost," has just picked up a job for "V." This, coupled with an earlier report from Ausiello that a major character on "Lost" would die before the end of the season, has him worried that it will be Juliet who meets with her maker when it's all said and done. But ABC...

I sure hope this doesn't mean what I think it does: Lost heroine Elizabeth Mitchell has been cast in ABC's eagerly anticipated V pilot. Are you thinking what I'm thinking -- that this confirms Juliet as the major character who gets bumped off at this season's end? Yeah, I kinda thought you might be with me on that one. However, my moles at ABC and Warner Bros. (which is producing V) say we need to chill, because Mitchell is just a guest star on V. But, however much I may want to chill, that's pretty hard to do, since everyone...

India has put all of its major airports on high alert after receiving threats that planes may be about to be hijacked. Airport security has been tightened and travellers are being asked to check in three hours before their flights. Air force chief Fali Homi Major said: "This is based on a warning, which has been received and we are prepared as usual." Indian TV reported that the alert was issued after an email from Deccan Mujahideen, the same group that claimed the Mumbai attacks. Sky's India correspondent Alex Crawford said: "The Indian Bureau for Civil Aviation has warned of...

"V" is finally coming back to television, but it just will have little to do with the hit 1980s miniseries that helped redefined science-fiction on television. ABC has ordered a new adaptation of the lizard-populated show with Scott Peters, a co-creator of USA Network's "The 4400," despite the fact that "V" creator Kenneth Johnson continues to work on a continuation of the 1980s outing.

Yeah, yeah. I know. I've already posted a couple of other DUmmie FUnnies editions in the past few weeks on the subject of V For Vendetta which you can read HERE and HERE. However, the laughable obsession of the Left over this movie seems to be continuing unabated. And now, in addition to the DUmmies, we also have the Daily Kos KOmmies engaging in Vendetta fantasies as we shall see. For those of you unfamiliar with this fantasy flick, it is based on a graphic comix novel of the same name. In the movie, Britain is under the fascistic...

Gout forced Charles V abdication, study finds By Gene Emery BOSTON (Reuters) - Tests of a 500-year-old pinky finger confirm that Holy Roman Emperor Charles V was debilitated by gout and the painful joints it produces, Spanish researchers reported on Wednesday. Jaume Ordi of the University of Barcelona and colleagues used a microscope to examine the tip of one of Charles' pinkie fingers, which was preserved separately from his body in a small red velvet box. After rehydrating and slicing the mummified fingertip, the Ordi team found telltale signs of gout, including the buildup of uric acid crystals. At the...
