Frank Pringle has found a way to squeeze oil and gas from just about anything
Im not sure if Im watching a magic trick, or an invention that will make the cigar-chomping 64-year-old next to me the richest man on the planet. Everything that goes into Frank Pringles recycling machinea piece of tire, a rock, a plastic cupturns to oil and natural gas seconds later. Ive been told the oil companies might try to assassinate me, Pringle says without sarcasm.
The machine is a microwave emitter that extracts the petroleum and gas hidden inside everyday objectsor at least anything made with hydrocarbons, which, it turns out, is most of whats around you. Every hour, the first commercial version will turn 10 tons of auto wastetires, plastic, vinylinto enough natural gas to produce 17 million BTUs of energy (it will use 956,000 of those BTUs to keep itself running).

I’ll believe it when I see a commercial version running. How many ‘free energy’ or ‘cheap energy’ devices have been promoted that came out to be scams?
But it never came to be.
So I'm extremely skeptical about this. Besides, if this guy invented his machine 10 years ago, why hasn't he sold thousands of them over the past decade?
Chagning World Technology never delivered on its promises. They keep saying they will do it “next year.”
Yep. Changing World Technology talked about how they were going to build all these giant plants all over the U.S. They were lying - they never did it.
There are numerous reasons that this technology could fail — but, that doesn’t put it in the “perpetual motion machine” category.
Extracting energy from hydrocarbon sources is pretty standard fare. The process, as described in the article does not require any departure from standard physics
Pringle said he started with about $450,000 - "that's a ballpark estimate" - of his own money. About 2,000 friends, neighbors and acquaintances have invested $3.5 million, buying shares, said his company's chief financial officer, Jeff Andrews. The company's shares are thinly traded on the OTC Bulletin Board.
I wonder how long his friends will stay friends.
Chili, burittos, most anything with beans. Made a seven bean soup with ham that was di-no-mite. Best, N
Statements such as this makes one lose credibility. (unless your a Democrat that is)
Their plant in Carthage is still going, but they have had technical problems and the smell has many complaining. Their output hasn’t reached their benchmarks, and they are supposedly looking at Europe for their next plants.
I think it will be a great method of handling waste products in the future, but it will never replace the need for other forms of energy.
Uh, ever hear of Maxwell, Newton, Physics, Thermodynamics, Carnot, any of this ?
You cannot get out more energy from a device than what you put into it.
Those same petrochemical-based materials could probably be used more efficiently as fuel to a thermal generating plant, without the extra energy input of the microwave machine.
If your interpretation of this principle is correct, why doesn't it require more fuel energy to pump oil out of the ground than is provided by the oil?
Fact is, the feedstock provides the external source of energy. It's not necessarily a violation of the laws of thermodynamics to transition hydrocarbons from one configuration to another.
shale is a rock, some shale has oil in it.
If this turns out to be a cheap way to process oil shale, he might have something.
