Night Of The Lott Long Knives? (Lott and the "problem" of talk radio)
www.HughHewitt.com ^ | 6/15/07 | Hugh Hewitt

Posted on 06/15/2007 9:34:58 AM PDT by The Blitherer

Geez, Senator Lott is really unhappy with "talk radio" and some of his colleagues:

The Republican whip, Trent Lott of Mississippi, who supports the bill, said: “Talk radio is running America. We have to deal with that problem.”

At some point, Mr. Lott said, Senate Republican leaders may try to rein in “younger guys who are huffing and puffing against the bill.”

I think that this is a complaint that the old days were more fun for senators, and that the senators especially don't like the new media's ability to inform, inspire and direct public opinion. The end result of Senator Lott's blasts (another one here) is to of course further motivate the base because to the reality of a bad bill and past insults is now added a genuine note of dislike --which is not the way to build a party.

It may be that the Times and the Post cherry picked Lott's comments, but Senators McConnell and Kyl have got to take him aside and explain that the base is our friend, that new media isn't going away and that they don't want it to --unless, of course, the GOP would like to leave all media to the left.

“The Republican whip, Trent Lott of Mississippi, who supports the bill, said: “Talk radio is running America. We have to deal with that problem.”

Trent Lott had better remember we still have a First Amendment - and a SECOND One also.

He should pick up a good American History Book and turn to the part about the Boston Tea Party, Lexington and Concord.
Even Americans have a breaking point and I think this illegal alien amensty bill is it.

The Fairness Doctrine would destroy conservatism.

The GOP is not suicidal, they are trying to protect their interests. If it takes the Fairness Doctrine, the GOP is happy to oblige.

"Not to mention more serious measures, such as public horse-whipping and, er, ‘piking’."

I would settle for an atomic wedgie and a tsunamic swirlie....at least for starters....On the other hand, Lott and Graham probably got a lot of those in high school so they may well be quite used to them....hmmmmmmm

Does anyone think it's possible Lott might actually support the Fairness Doctrine in order to "deal with the problem" of talk radio?

Lott only supports lott when push comes to shove. He don't give one damn about anybody are anything other than his own inflated ego.

“Lott would vote for the Fairness Doctrine in order to “deal with the problem” with glee.”

You bet. Anything that threatens their power to ramrod the amnesty bill through Congress in the middle of the night threatens them. They’re a bunch of power-drunk morons, who (with only a handful of exceptions) are either intentionally traitorous to traitorous through stupidity.

And, If “We The People” happen to disagree with them, they consider us part of the problem, and they will act to shut us up, or just ignore us en masse, claiming we don’t know “what’s best for America.”

Lott was a turkey as Senate Majority Leader

Insert pix of Lott wearing that ridiculous hat with the huge turkey feather stuck in it.

When Lott was majority leader in the Senate he was known as “Mr. let’s make a deal”. He has NO core beliefs except to keep legislation moving. He disgusts me and I cannot believe that the good people of MS keep that used car dealer on the public payroll.

The answer is simple, Supertalk Mississippi is shining the light of day upon Sen. Lott's liberalism and sell out policies. Lott was even a part of the tobacco settlement, which was nothing but a heist. Lott is not a Republican, he is a selfish self serving politician that cares nothing about conservative principles...

But remember, Byrd is former KKK. He probably hates immigrants because they’re... well because they’re ethnic. Republicans don’t hate them. They just want them to follow the law. Then they want them to come here.

“Talk radio is running America. We have to deal with that problem.”

That, my friends, appears to be a declaration of war.

Let him know that We shall never surrender.

If Lott wants a war, he's got it.

To paraphrase Churchill (changes in bold):

I have, myself, full confidence that if all do their duty, if nothing is neglected, and if the best arrangements are made, as they are being made, we shall prove ourselves once again able to defend our nation's sovereignty, to ride out the storm of war, and to outlive the menace of tyranny, if necessary for years, if necessary alone. At any rate, that is what we are going to try to do...

We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in Mississippi, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength on the airwaves and over the internet, we shall defend our Sovereignty, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.

I said it back then when Hannity and every other meely mouth was trying to throw this dummy a rope...we should have tossed him then.

Now, he is back...and wanting to service the Liberal agenda with his antiquated notions of senate decorum and BS!!

This guy is one of the biggest problems facing Conservatives today.

HE HAS GOT TO GO!!!!!!!!!

I just had a little heated exchange with a young girl in Lott’s office. Of course he didn’t say that and its by no means amnesty. She needs a Midol IMO.

WE have to deal with that problem...

Yep, Hillary Rodham Clinton’s “little problem”...

How is she going to win the White House when the “little”
people DARE have a voice?

The Democrats are worried now. Big Media is their baby,
but talk radio is still where the heartbeat of America lives!

Look for more talkshow host firings as the Heat Builds for 2008!
