Some facts are now available about the Milwaukee Police raid that resulted in the death of Police Officer Rittner. The raid occured on February 6th, about 9:12 a.m., on the 2900 block of South 12th Street. Several officers were wearing body cameras. The raid made use of a no-knock warrant.
The suspect, Jordan Fricke, has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide (940.01(1)(a), first degree recklessly endangering safety (941.30(1) , and maintaining a drug trafficking place 961.42(1).
Jordan Fricke did not have any past criminal record. He had some past traffic violations, the last of which was in 2014. According to jsonline.com, friends of Fricke claimed he had an active concealed carry permit.
The no-knock warrant claimed that Fricke had sold marijuana to a confidential informant on February 1. One sale for $20, one for $40.
The complaint says that officers surrounded the residence near 12th Street and Manitoba, and yelled Police, search warrant as the approached the door and started to break it down. Officer Rittner was the officer operating the ram who was breaking down the door.
According to fox6now.com, Fricke said he was in bed, asleep, with his girlfriend, when the raid started.
In regards to the execution of the search warrant, the complaint says Fricke admitted to being in bed with his girlfriend when he was awoken by a loud noise and yelling. The defendant several times claimed that he did not hear what was being yelled,

Said to have sold small amounts of marijuana and some guns at gun shows. Turned informant claimed straw sales.
Yet another unnecessary death due to “no knock” warrants. Charge the judge who issued it and the cop(s) who asked for it with homicide.
“War” on drugs has many victims.
Few winners.
Why don’t they arrest these people when the buy is being done?
With all the states at least legalizing medical marijuana why bother for someone who is small time seller?
Especially if the result is a loss of a police officer life?
It is just not worth the price.
The one that sent the officer on such a raid should be charged for his death. Not the poor sucker they raided.
Why wouldn’t you shoot someone busting down your door? They really need to rethink allowing “No Knock” raids.
I thought we were supposed to shoot through a door. Just ask former VP Biden.
Equipment used in drug sales is incredibly vague to my mind. My guess is if police hadnt broken down the door (although from the sounds of things they did identify themselves as law enforcement and Fricke attested to that) or if Fricke hadnt shot at he knew not what, he would have been fine after the search turned up nothing illegal (apparently).
Result is a catch-22. Police will say they chose to use a no-knock warrant because Fricke was potentially dangerous, and the fact that he killed a police officer validates that claim. On the other hand Fricke will no doubt say that if they didnt use a no-knock warrant he wouldnt have shot anyone.
I am sorry, but the police bring this on themselves. There was no need to kick the door in. They did it to get their jollies off. In WI they have also done it at the behest of the prosecutor for political intimidation.
I think the procedure to get a search warrant needs to also address the methods used. Maybe judges can bring some sanity to this madness.
And it goes all the way to the top.
It's the real reason why the 'Ratz don't want the wall.
Only if two shots off the balcony doesn't work.
Identify target hell. If he’s armed, taking time to identify who’s busting in your door is the time needed to get yourself killed.
No knock raids need to be outlawed, nationally.
Previous poster said “why didn’t they arrest during the buy” - it’s as simple as that. Or grab him as he’s leaving the next day. Or, or, or...
HIS GIRLFRIEND SAID SHE HEARD DISTINCTLY THAT THEY SAID THEY WERE COPS.
THE GUY was wanted on narcotics and weapons trafficking.
Never heard here before that because a crime wasn’t that big or because it was legal SOMEWHERE ELSE to do, that it’s no biggie.
Some schmo here the other day said someone deserved a police beat down because he didn’t use his blinker.
If this was a black perp from NYC most here would be saying screw him, he had it coming :)
Just sayin..
Like I said, girlfriend heard it was police WAY before he started shooting...
Biden said to fire the shotgun up into the air.
That’s where “civil forfeiture” comes in. The victim probably had something they wanted to steal.
No knock warrants are a double edged sword in cause and effect. The concept is to make a safer entry for the officers by using the element of surprise. This element of surprise is not always a good thing and can backfire killing people instead. The concept is irrational.
A bad guy breaking down your door has sufficiently identified himself for you.
I hope that this officer will not have died in vain. I hope that the authorities will learn that "no knock" raids are a bad idea and quit doing them. We the People are armed. The authorities had best learn to mind their manners.
As to Mr. Fricke: "Not Guilty."
Any random home invader can yell “Police”.
Doesn’t mean we need to believe them.
