The FBI, in the midst of a massive reorganization in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks, yesterday hired the top information and communications official of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as its new chief information officer.

You misunderstand scriptures, apparently.

Do you not recall why Paul was writing these things? It is because the Jews loved to "prove" how worthy they were by showing their "endless genealogies", and their uninterrupted lineage right back to Jacob, Isaac, and Abraham. They thought that meant they were "saved."

FWIW, if "genealogies" of this kind are "forbidden," better throw out Matthew Chapter One.

The FBI and CIA long ago realized that Mormons are more trustwothy, patriotic, and healthy than the general population and so have specificly targeted Mormons in their recruitment efforts, hence there is a disproportionate
number LDS members who are FBI or CIA agents.

In addition, because of the LDS church's missionary program, many LDS members speak multiple languages fluently.

I'm sorry if our patriotism offends thee......
It isn't patriotism that offends me. Beliefs, and forcing me to go by another's beliefs, is what offends me.
By LDS standards I must believe as you (your "our" tells me you are LDS too) believe.
I don't believe anything LDS purports, especially their "additional Bible" in the Book of Mormon.
Sorry, just not my cup of tea.
Break out the "Urim and Thummim" and pass the Salamander Papers.
You LDS folks remind me too much of Nehemiah Scudder and the Prophet.

Is it also possible that the FBI and CIA long ago realized that Mormons will believe whatever they're told to believe?

Finally, they being a religious organization should not be getting involved with the US Government Information Systems...

The ADL trains FBI agents and shares its database on "extremists", "antisemites" and "haters" with the agency. So does the Simon Wiesenthal Center. Both are far left. Considering that the ADL views some gun groups and those who oppose the homosexual agenda as "extremists" or "haters", the ADL is far more dangerous to a free society than this one appointment by the FBI.

Anti-Defamation League Labels Conservative Event 'Extremist

Adversaries Go Inside ADL's Spying Operation

Law Enforcement From Across The U.S. Participate In Joint ADL-FBI Conference On Terrorism

ADL Jumps into Bigotry Pit with NAACP

ADL (Democrat Funded Not-for-Profit) found guilty of spying (On Republicans) by California court

There are 13 Articles of Faith that summarize the LDS beliefs. #11 is "We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may." I don't know where you get the idea that the LDS people are bent on "forcing" you to believe the way they do.

By the way, the Salamander Letter was a forgery and has no relevance to LDS beliefs.

Also, concerning our earlier posts about genealogies, there is much more genealogy in the Bible than simply a list of Jesus' genealogy. If you are really interested in the LDS view of genealogy, there is plenty of information on www.lds.org

What on earth are you talking about? Most of "us" strive to live in accordance with our Articles of Faith, two of which are:

11.We claim the privilege of worshipping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

12. We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.

Who is forcing you to believe as "we" do? I would hope that you are not so easily compelled in such things. FWIW, the term "free agency" just happens to pop up frequently in our religious life.

You would do well to become informed about matters that you incorrectly believe that you understand. And your venom and apparent bigotry does not square well with the tenets of Christianity, Judaism, and other systems of belief......

I'm curious:

Just who is it that has been "forcing" you to believe the way Latter-Day Saints believe?

I mean, I've heard a lot of allegations against us before, but that's a first, I must say.

Details?

"Does anyone else think it curious that a Mormon named their son 'Darwin'?"

I assume that the bame was the parents' natural selection.

By the way, I'm sure that you would agree that bestowing the first name "Darwin" beats the hell out of naming a son LaVon, Devere, Eldon, Brent, Rex, Orrin, Brigham, Kay, Truman, LaVell, Mitt, Marion, Orson,,Moroni, Nephi, Alma, Dallon, Golden, Eliza, Parley, or a capital letter followed by a period... 8~)

Yes, of course, I wasn't clear. The missionaries that travel abroad speak one additional language but many speak more than that. My brother learned 3 languages as a result of his mission. He learned French, then Creole French and also Spanish. Since his mission he has been working on other languages as well. He worked for the State Dept while still in college.

Back in the 50's my father was pursued by the CIA because of his knowledge of Japanese gained after a three year mission in Japan. Dad didn't want to keep "secrets" from my Mom so he didn't join the CIA.

"By LDS standards I must believe as you believe. "

I'm not sure what you mean by 'must', no force is used to convert a person, our intention is to explain what we believe, why we belive it, and encourage the person to pray and find out from God if it is true or not. Our 11th article of faith is: " We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may."

"...Salamander Papers"

Hey, if you are going to drag out false accusations, at least call them by their right name. The White Salamander Letter was a forgery, and the man who forged it is currently in jail.

"You LDS folks remind me too much of Nehemiah Scudder and the Prophet."

I really like all the Robert A. Heinlein I've read but I haven't gotten to that one yet so I don't know in what ways you see them as similar. Either Joseph was a true prophet or not, and if he was, would not Satan do all he could to slander and defame him? Be carefull about who's opinion you decide to put your trust in.

If so then how is it we have resisted so well all those orthodox christians who tell us we are wrong, and why would the FBI want agents so mentaly weak? Honestly, that comment shows such a closed mind, anything negative about us you will accept without needing a shred of proof.

" It is thetype of statements like this that concerns me."

So, you are saying you would rather have FBI agents that are not more trustwothy, patriotic, and healthy than the general population?

Considering the large percentage of non-Mormons in the population, you have no need of worrying about us being in a position to take over, Catholics in every area vastly outnumber us, yes, even in the FBI and CIA.

Your paranoid worries however are quite ammusing.

Part one...Effecient and effective indoctrination. Part two...Could it be so they could admit to knowing nothing about anything and not be lying? Or maybe as an effort to discredit and dismantle the organization.

I've sure riled a nest haven't I.

I'm not a member so it doesn't apply to me. If I were...Converts have to believe as you believe. Wear the clothes, don't drink, don't smoke, follow "the rules" we've made.
A convert who doesn't do those things is kicked out aren't they? That is "forcing" someone to believe as you do. No dissent or choices allowed. You will comply.
Wearing your silk drawers now? Or have "the rules" changed lately?
