My research shows that the Democrats started in the 1790’s but evolved at a later date to the current party that we know. If I had to guess, I would say around Andrew Jackson’s time frame.
My article wasn’t as focused on the origins of the Party, but more so on the racial aspect. Since of course, they parade around calling everyone who disagrees with them racist.

Okay - thanks - but I knew how the party started at first as the Democrat party but of late I keep hearing about the Democratic party which to me, grammatically speaking, doesn’t make grammatical sense.

That said, I am not against an occasional blogger started thread...this person is new enough they simply might not know the breach of etiquette he or she performed.
I have an extremely simple analysis.
Leftists (democrats) are only good at proposing really terrible things, and wrecking good things.
As such, they were opposed to civil rights laws when such laws were actually a good idea (pre civil war to about 1960).
And then, they embraced increasing such legislation past the point where it actually did some good. In other words they embraced it only when the situation had been dealt with and further legislation was actually harmful!
It is like being against penicillin right up to the point that the patient is recovering (from doses of penicilling), then demanding MORE penicillin be given to the cured patient - which will kill him.
They are always wrong and destructive.
What simpler way could two political camps be constructed? One, basically right; the other, wrong.
It is a great community. However, it is considered a breach of etiquette at best, and a mortal sin at worst, to post an excerpt from your own blog here.
If you sign up on Free Republic, you want to avoid just posting a piece of your blog. I think it is okay if you post the entire piece from your blog, just not an excerpt.
For good reason. They don’t want people coming on here trying to pump up hits on their blog. I understand that.
