This is a short but shocking DUFU edition today. William Rivers Pitt apparently opened up his Trust Fund checkbook and purchased his way into giving a speech at an Eleanor Roosevelt Awards Dinner held by Denver area Democrats. I could post his overlong boring speech which was my original intention but I just couldn't get over his voice. You can't hear him by clicking the pic above but if you go to TRUTHOUT, just scroll down to the video and click on it.
If you had ever heard Pitt's voice before his throat started getting eaten away by the cancer sticks, you would be as shocked as I am to hear the Pittster's voice. I remember him on the phone from Bukowksi's in early 2005, assuring me that he remembered every single detail of a long conversation that he wrote, word-for-word. Back then his voice sounded smooth and normal. However, years of sucking down those cigarettes, perhaps as many as 3 packs per day, have resulted in the raspy, unhealthy voice you hear on the video.
My advice to Pitt is to quit blowing his Trust Fund bucks to pay for ego enhancing speaking gigs and use the money to pay for medical attention. You need to quit smoking NOW or end up with a hole in your throat like this SINGING COWBOY.
Don't wait, Pitt. Pick up the phone and make an appointment with a doctor. Best to do it now before the ObamaCare waiting lines go into effect.

But I don't think his raspy voice is from smoking. IMO it's from swilling booze every waking moment and finally falling off the Bar Stool at Bukowksi's at 2:00 am, nearly comatose.

It is definitely a smokers voice. Which means the cigarettes are eating away at his throat. It is astonishing the rapidity of his decline. In early 2005 his voice was normal...and now this.
I read the speech, as with Bo, there's way too much "I, me, my" in it, jsut way too much. And those insulting references to Denver, about how he can't remember the last time he was there, as if Denver was so unremarkable it was not worth remembering.
The Colorado Democrats and the Denver Democrats are waxing fat and prosperous; surely they could've paid for a better quality of speaker.
The Bostonian Drunkard is, aesthetically, flat-out grotesque. Because I can't hear, I just watched (the whole thing), and was intrigued by how his appearance and mannerisms oddly resemble those of Julius Streicher.
I think the payment was the other way around. Of course, they wouldn't call it a "payment." Proper term they would use would be "contribution." Make a nice contribution and you get to be a speaker and enhance your own ego.
I'm confused. Usually, are speakers not paid for their appearances? When did this custom change?

I think Mother Pitt, aka DUmmie Raven, needs to do an intervention on the Democratic Dipsomaniac. Take that boy of hers across her knee and give him a good trashing. March him up to that cabin in the woods for a little rehab and detox. Make him sit in the corner in his short pants and write sentences on a slateboard, "I will be a GOOD boy. Last time I saw Billy was on the Common in Boston, at the Band Stand, during a FReep, fall 2003?, has a crew cut, and was a chubby little person. Howard Zinn was there and he called him out of the crowd to speak, I’ll have to look up the After Action Report.
You are correct. Compare and contrast, Weed Willie at 37, almost 38, and yours truly, CH, at 55, almost 56 (both photos taken earlier this year). Pitt looks as old or older than I do!
