Shock: First Animal on Earth Was Surprisingly Complex
Yahoo! ^ | Thursday, April 10, 2008 | LiveScience

Earth's first animal was the ocean-drifting comb jelly, not the simple sponge, according to a new find that has shocked scientists who didn't imagine the earliest critter could be so complex... scientists analyzed massive volumes of genetic data to define the earliest splits at the base of the animal tree of life... The new study surprisingly found that the comb jelly was the first animal to diverge from the base of the tree, not the less complex sponge, which had previously been given the honor... Unlike sponges, comb jellies have connective tissues and a nervous system, and so are more complex. Though squishy and tentacled, they are not, however, true jellyfish as they lack the classic bell-shaped body and characteristic stinging cells. The finding was unexpected because evolutionary biologists had thought that less complex animals split off and evolved separately first... "evolution is not necessarily just a march towards increased complexity," Dunn said.

Might I suggest you go to Him and tell Him you think He is the fabricator of a myth.

You don't even understand your own religion. Isn't god everywhere? Where would I "go" to talk to him? Isn't he all-knowing? What could I tell him that he doesn't already know? Besides the Bible is an error ridden collection of books written by primitive people who slaughtered animals for sacrifice, practiced polygamy and killed in the name of their god. Sounds like a wacko cult to me

“What could I tell him that he doesn’t already know? “

Perhaps that you’ve decided to exercise your free will to follow Gods guidance.

‘Besides the Bible is an error ridden collection of books written by primitive people who slaughtered animals for sacrifice, practiced polygamy and killed in the name of their god.”

Primitive? You must have been educated in a wacko liberal school.

‘Sounds like a wacko cult to me’

Sounds like hate speech to me. Did you know that the Romans used hate speech laws just like those being introduced today. They used them to persecute Christians.

Well one has evidence on its side, and the other has your interpretation of what an allegorical and spiritual creation story means in the physical world.

“The truth of our faith becomes a matter of ridicule among the infidels if any Christian, not gifted with the necessary scientific learning, presents as dogma what scientific scrutiny shows to be false.”

[Pasteur] was a great scientist who not only believed the Bible, but based his scientific theories on it. And he gave us much more practical and useful scientific results than can be directly attributed to Darwin.
Amen! Macro evolution's sole practical application seems limited to its use in marshaling colorful parades of knowledge. Enabling FR Darwinists to thoroughly enjoy themselves. LOL.

There is more proof that Jesus existed than Socrates.

Please show me where you think I denied that Jesus is Lord.

Jesus said “I will speak to you in parable”. The creation story in Genesis is a parable about the place of God and man in the world, and man's spiritual loss of innocence when we gained knowledge of good and evil. And I don't think we gained this knowledge by eating a fruit off a magical tree; that part is parable.

Far greater proof. Rigorous skeptics choosing to discard the Bible must also throw out the entirety of ancient history with its relatively infinitesimally smaller substantiation.

I didn’t say you denied Jesus. I simply stated there is proof that Jesus did exist.

One of the popular arguments against Christianity is that there is no proof. My point was that there is proof. Proof even a secular atheist would have to accept.

Here's a few hints. God is not the guide, you are. The bible is the roadmap, not the recipe. How you get there is up to you.

The old testament *is* primitive. The important parts are in the new.

Don't blither about hate speech, go whine over at DU when you feel the urge.

I am neither secular nor an atheist. I am a Scientist and a Christian. Most Scientists in the U.S. are people of faith and most Christian denominations accept a scientific understanding of our world as completely compatible with faith.

You are tilting at windmills.

When you compare the word day in Genesis and Exodus 20 with the day used by Peter you demonstrate a Biblical ignorance that unmistakable. Do your research and then comment, read the Scripture and then comment.

I have READ. Now you are just plain calling Peter ignorant given the subject he is giving Heavenly instruction.... Peter says IIPeter 3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of,

that by the *word* of God the heavens were of OLD, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

Genesis 1:2 says *AND* the earth was (should be became) without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. (DEEP WHAT????)

Back to IIPeter 3:6 Whereby the world that then *WAS*, being overflowed with water, perished: (not talking about Noah's flood as Peter addresses Noah's flood in the previous chapter.)

7 But the heavens and the earth which are *NOW*, (word means what it means) by the same *WORD* are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the *DAY* of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

8 BUT, beloved, be not IGNORANT of this one thing,

that ONE DAY is with the LORD as a thousand years, and a thousand years as ONE DAY.

NOW either Peter writing about the *DAY* length of time or else the Heavenly Father is pulling a fast one, and the evidence demonstrates that Peter is talking about the length of a *DAY* with the LORD.
