What an amazing mystery to be solved by some of the worlds leading investigative historians trying to link Lord Brooke,Fulke Greville to William Shakespeare. I recently met his 8th Great grandson a Christopher Brooke Fulke Greville who is a Medieval Historian, and he recognises that there is a strong link between his ancestor Lord Brooke,Fulke Greville and William Shakespeare and would be happy to show various old documents to anyone investigating this mystery.

Ask Helen, she knew Shakespeare back when she was middle-aged.

Interesting supposition. Sounds like a novel pursuit.

Intentional pun.

Google or http://www.masterofshakespeare.com/

I thought it was a put on at first myself. Maybe it is. Not much of a cryptoshakespearologist myself.

I like his epitaph: Trophaeum Peccati, “Monument to a Sinner”

One of the most popular subjects in English Literature studies is: Who really wrote Shakespeare’s plays?

There are multiple candidates, all of whom have their learned and rabid adherents.

Great fun to read and compare, but this is a controversy that is not likely to be solved.

The speculation is that William Shakespeare could not have had the worldly knowledge - being a country hick - to write some of these plays.

The answer in one documentary I saw is that Shakespeare was highly educated as part of an underground Crypto-Catholic community.

Thank you for the post and welcome. These kind of articles are one of the reasons I stay here. There will be some gatekeepers who want you banned (IBTZ), but I think the moderators will see through them and allow the thread to stand.

This could well be an unfolding of an adventure that we should all cherish, especially if they do confirm that Fulke Greville and William Shakespeare are linked closer than anyone can imagine.
I for one would relish investigating this mystery.
Fulke Greville was a poet and Statesman within his own right and confirming any of this mystery would propel the Greville family to even more greatness.
On speaking to Christopher Fulke Greville and his brothers, its rather uncanny to see the physical resemblance to his Great ancestor when I visit Warwick Castles Ghost Tower.

Shakespeare went to the local school, but didn’t go to university; OTOH, as you note, he was involved with the Old Faith in Britain, and was a teacher early in his adulthood, for people who didn’t want their kids going to gov’t schools, say, that kinda sounds familiar... anyway, it’s humbling to realize that, by the time Shakespeare was my age, he’d been dead four months. ;’)
