Tootsie — no. Not really all that funny.

Airplane has to be on the list because even if you have seen it 170 times, you will still actually laugh out loud. it may be medically impossible not to.

I feel very much the same about Monty Python, but for some they don’t crack a smile. Some people do not get the British humor. I also could not see MP without LOL.

Some Like It Hot may be like Tootsie - OK, the guys are dressed as girls... Cute, fun movie. Funniest? No.

I agree — Naked Gun movies and Top Secret should be on that list!

LOL, “Take the Money and Run”! He played the cello in the marching band... He made his fake gun out of prison soap - it was raining when he tried to use it... Great sight gags.

The interviews with the parents, where they were disguised with Groucho nose and mustache masks..

Tootsie?

Obviously whoever created this list liked Airplane! for the Johnny character.

One of the few times I’ve nearly laughed myself into unconsciousness was the scene in Bowfinger, when the Golden retriever, Betsy, placed in hi-heels/clogs at the parking garage, so Eddie Murphy thought he heard somebody following him. Every time he stopped, the dog naturally stopped. When he walked more quickly, the dog followed more quickly. Great idea.

Only because I didn't see it mentioned, "What About Bob" is a great comedy. Bill Murray plays the mental patient who stalks his psychiatrist (Richard Dreyfuss) during his New Hampshire vacation. By the end of the movie, the roles are reversed!

Also, I highly recommend "Fargo" as a dark comedy. I don't think the writers intended for it to be a comedy but that's how it came across to me.

Thank you! 265 replies before we get to one of my favorites.

I also like Slap Shot, Animal House, Monty Python’s Holy Grail, and A Fish Called Wanda.

There are so many better comedies than Tootsie.

“Beaks! Flies with beaks!”

“Agua fria! Agua fria!”

But if you are a fan of Alan Arkin, and you ever want to see a group of adults in mass hysterics, scrounge up an unedited (off the Fox Movie Channel, for instance) copy of “Fire Sale” to show them.

What about “A Christmas Story”?

One of my favorites is “The Ref”, which is dark comedy set around Christmas time. One of Denis Leary’s best roles IMO.
