Inhospitable: The Grand Tsingy may look uninhabitable, but there are thought to be 11 species of lemur, 100 types of bird and 45 kinds of reptile living there
|
Perilous: An explorer climbs among the razor-sharp peaks of the stone forest, where the eroded limestone rocks extend for 230-square miles
|
Intrepid: Climbers Luke Padgett and John Benson scale another dangerous-looking peak in the Grand Tsingy, thought to be the world's largest stone forest
|
Forest of life: Various forms of greenery can be spotted within the Grand Tsingy stone forest, despite the apparently inhospitable environmental conditions
|
It's like a cave without a roof, it gets a tremendous amount of tropical rain that has eroded the rock into these sharp rock pinnacles.

Looks like a great bug-out destination. I wonder how roasted lemur tastes.

Like this commment underneath:
“My 5 year old walked over while I was reading this and now she wants a lemur. That is, in addition to the dog, cat and bunny she already has and the neighbor’s horse and cows she thinks are hers.”
lol.
Well, I thought I knew pretty much about the earth, but I have to admit I’ve never ever heard of a ‘stone forest’!
Beautiful.

I do not believe that it was rain that eroded those stones.
