Ancient Discovery In Greece May Completely Rewrite The Human Story

Researchers announced Thursday that the timeline of Greece’s history needs to be pushed back by at least a quarter million years after a shocking discovery deep inside an open coal mine.

Archaeologists uncovered the nation’s oldest archaeological site, which dates back at least 700,000 years. It is thought to be associated with some of our earliest hominin ancestors, according to The Associated Press. Although older archaeological sites have been uncovered in other parts of Europe, Asia and Africa, this is the first major discovery of this age in Greece, and may completely rewrite aspects of the nation’s human history.

The site contained rough stone tools from the Lower Palaeolithic period, roughly 3.3 million to 300,000 years ago, The AP noted. The remains of extinct creatures, such as giant deer, elephants, hippopotamus, rhinoceros, and macaque monkeys, were also found at the site.

More work is needed to determine the exact date, “however, [archaeologists] will not be able to be sure until hominin fossil remains are recovered,” the project director Panagiotis Karkanas said, according to The AP. “(The site) is the oldest currently known hominin presence in Greece, and it pushes back the known archaeological record in the country by up to 250,000 years.”

For example, in February 2023, a discovery in southern France suggested that humans began hunting in the region some 45,000 to 42,000 years ago. Further analysis of the Greek site could push this date back by hundreds of thousands of years.

The area where the tools were discovered has long been linked to ancient Greek legends, such as that of an ancient race of giants who fought the gods of Olympus, The AP noted. Ancient writers even described the area as the site of a major supernatural war.

No, they were all killed in the flood of Noah’s day like all the other findings of giant animals - and they’re not 3 million years old.

Why didn’t Noah collect them up?

How did Noah collect the kangaroos in Australia?

The "Out of place artifacts" found in coal mines are generally ignored. Maybe they won't be able to dance out of these finds.

Civilization has risen and fallen many times on this planet. We're on a serious downward slope at this time.

And just to think that with the use of modern technology they may end the human race in a matter of a few years.

Those stone tools will sell for high prices when the left makes our power tools quit working.

Gee...could Noah be a fairy tale of sorts. Say like Sam took two cows and a bag of beans...told his wife he was going to the store and headed for his ferry.

If you mean, did he take some on the ark - the Bible gives a list of all that he was commanded to take - and God brought the animals to him. Ultimately, we don’t know but findings from different cultures all over the world show evidences of ‘dragon type creatures’ in literature and art. It’s a person’s worldview that matters. Naturalists believe there is only matter and so they look for evidence that confirms their worldview and reject evidence that doesn’t. Scientists that are Christian or hold that worldview do the same. Do you know about a scientists named Dr. Nathaniel Jeanson? He has some powerful genetic evidence of people groups from all over the world (and it’s growing and secular scientists have contributed greatly to this body of evidence). He traces genetic changes through the male T cells. It’s extremely interesting and gives a very different view of the spread of humans over the earth. The beauty of it is that it’s evidenced based and can be extrapolated back in time. It’s pretty powerful in it’s implications. Secular scientific publications will almost never publish these findings. It has nothing to do with science but bias. The problem with people is that we hate what the Bible has to say about us. We like sinning. It comes very natural as does most selfishness. We are asked to fight our nature. We don’t like that. I’m also guilty. But the evidence is on the side of the Bible.

Here’s another great site https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCHJbO-3-jA
This guy is a cold case detective from LA. His family are atheistic but he became a believer because he applied his investigative skills to the gospels. It’s very interesting - even if you choose not to accept any of it - but he shows beyond a doubt that the gospel evidence is reasonable. He’s very thorough. I hope you give it a spin. Our culture is spiraling out of control. Having an anchor for your soul will become increasingly important as we become Sodom.

It’s amusing how any time someone questions something the Bible says, believers correct them based on…wait for it…the Bible!

Silly Yo-Yo. That’s not where he collected them; that’s where they went when he turned them loose. Marsupials, it seems, mostly wanted to go to Australia.

That would be an encouraging change from everything being a religious artifact. ;-D We might even finally be allowed to think something might just be a plain old ordinary work of art or something the kids brought home from school.
