I can understand why Gannett wouldn't want their stuff posted. They are not into debate. They are into unfettered distribution of their opinion only. They are worried that they will be rendered redundant or even (gasp)irrelevent.

Someday the antiChrist will make all media his tool. IMO Gannett is helping accelerate the process. Read "Tribulation Force" and you will learn how LaHaye/Jenkins' version of the AC, Nicolae Carpathia, buys every one of the world's media conglomerates, large and larger.

If we have to become a blogger site, then so be it!

I've seen the term "blog", but in all seriousness...what is it?

This is amazing. I can't help but wonder if we shouldn't compile a list of as many conservative news outlets/personalities as we can, and let them know about this. They love to let the world know about liberal media bias...and if this isn't liberal media bias, I don't know what is.

Anyone a good wordsmith that is willing to construct a well-worded "Did you know?" statement we can cut and paste, and we can start taking ownership of different conservatives/websites to get this info out to.

I doubt seriously that the advertisers of these entities want to be associated with this kind of publicity. I think there's a chance we'd see some turnaround maybe. In my opinion, it's worth the effort.

Anyone game?

Well, crap! I guess there's no law against summarizing their articles and posting the headline with link. It'll be inconvenient, but we'll manage. Southerners are make-do experts, you know.

Thanks for the ping. I'm looking forward to Earnest Lee's trial.

Here's a crazy idea. How about paying for content?

Just pick a major news provider (Gannet, AP, Reuters, whoever.) Cut a deal where you promote them and in return you get to post stories from their wire.

From DU's 'Rules' page:

COPYRIGHT ISSUES AND BANDWIDTH THEFT

Don't post entire copyrighted articles. If you wish to reference an article, provide a brief excerpt and include a link to the original source. Generally, excerpts should not exceed three or four paragraphs.

They will only allow the posting of titles and links.

I tried doing just that (posting the title and link in the appropriate boxes and then adding my comments in the text box) and my post was rejected due to the link.

I say we start Freeping the Net to shut down ANY other site which engages in activity which is forbidden here. Let's see the media liars go up against their own illegitimate spawn.

They'll just gin up no-cost contracts with their spawn to freely repost their sewage.

I've seen the term "blog", but in all seriousness...what is it?

Basically, just personal opinion pieces, supported by fact. Or, news analysis.

Not sure who coined the term.

I guess "Chat" or "misc". did not reflect what was going on. The internet is really morphing into a dynamic political data base. I think it is the best thing ever to happen in politics.

The Poughkeepsie Urinal used to be my hometown paper.

You won't miss their leaden prose and poor grammer and usage, believe me.

Due to contractual arrangements they have with third-party content providers

That's bullsh*t.

That's their way of getting around any "fair use" questions.

I realize, Jim, that your pockets aren't deep enough to get through that, but [shrug]....

I dunno...

Ah, well.

Just damn.

If you want on the list, FReepmail me. This IS a high-volume PING list...

It appears that the left wing maggots who own and control the left wing fish wraps now know what we do when they publish lies, spin, and DNC mantras posing as news.

We need a strategy to combat this. I don't mean a legal strategy, but a way to keep the information on those articles which are important without breaking the copyright law.

Many articles have on them a direction to "e-mail this article to a friend." I suggest we e-mail ourselves important articles and store them in separate files.

In addition, we can paraphrase articles, keeping downloaded articles as proof if needed.

That's all I can think of, off-hand. Others will probably have better ideas.

"Many articles have on them a direction to "e-mail this article to a friend." I suggest we e-mail ourselves important articles and store them in separate files."

This is an excellent suggestion. I do this with good articles re investing or fly fishing all the time. Then I store the email in a folder.

I remember how articles and data on web sites after the forest fires in Oregon two years ago disappeared. I started doing this with a few really damning articles.

Then when we were in the process of getting rid of Gray Davis, the scary back ground of the Busta your Wallet, re his connections with Hispanic Thug Gangs and Anti Americans came up. A lot of that stuff disappeared after being exposed on Free Republic.

Maybe we can use the Free Republic system of sending emails to each other for proof of documentation. That may be another alternative.

We have to get creative and use your suggestion to store articles.
