The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.

The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...

Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

But don't you go with the "worst case scenario" and have a plan blueprint?

Sorta like when you're late and you think you might be pregnant?

Or if you are a lousy cook, having a fire extinguisher under the sink?

NO officials have known for 200 years that the MS river is on one side and Lake Ponchartrain on the other - those levees were clearly "at risk" as were the pumping stations.

Having a back up plan is not rocket science.

Good news.

One little Rock Tour Company, is sending their entire fleet of buses down to New Orleans after they got a call from Washington for help.

Other's surely got the same call?!

I have learned via private email that freeper Timeout is okay, but without power.

Someone else on these threads, earlier in the week was asking about her. I can't remember who it was.

The governor does remind me of a 7th grade teacher who has lost control of her classroom.

Saying it - and doing something about it are two different things.

I don't know if she could actually give a shoot to kill order regarding looters - but maybe she should do so anyway.

If it stops a few homeboys from looting because they're worried about a getting a load of buckshot, maybe it's worth it.

I think Cheney's parents are long dead.... If you want to talk about looters, start at the top.

I think I speak for most when I say, "huh?"

Maybe the Venezualians should raise their prices some, and quit driving as well. They pay eleven cents per gallon.

Living in a rural area some of us have to get behind the wheel once in a while... what we need is for Los Angeles to continue their subway (they stopped further construction to the best of my knowledge), Las Vegas, Phoenix and other large cities need to consider mass transit systems. Without mass transit you are not going to get people out of their cars... heck in NYC WITH mass transit you still have choked roads throughout the city, but when I visit I prefer the subway for the convenience.

. I am saying that you reap what you sow in the karma and circularity of life. We gave license to a sexual predator and chief executive officer who committed perjury and obstruction of justice; and the nation yawned. That breeds consequences for any nation from the fortunes of Providence IMHO.

Not IMHO. God doesn't work that way. He allows things to happen to the good and the bad, then separates the wheat from the chaff at the end.

I have a real problem with well-meaning people applying God's judgment where they think it ought to be applied. That inevitably means they apply it to those whom they think deserve a little punishment in this life.

Punishing people is way above my pay grade.
