Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

Actually, in the elections of ‘06, the Conservative base DID show up at the polls in higher than their usual numbers for a mid-term election.

Right. The republicans spent 2006 running away from conservatism because they thought they had to appeal to the "centrists" to get elected.

and contrary to some opinion, the conservatives came out and voted anyway, because we did see that we needed to elect republicans.

But in SPITE of conservatives coming out, the strategy of running to the center did not win us the independent votes.

For some odd reason, some have the idea that running even MORE to the left is the key.

Conservatives, having done their job in 2006 because we had no choice, but having seen the proof that running to the center does not win you the independents, are not going let the party do that again, if we can help it.

Rudy will not bring people to the republican party. He will destroy the republican party.

Arnold had no coattails in California. Rudy will have no coattails (unless they are democratic).

NO responsible conservative would ever vote for Rudy.

A very wise man told me many years ago to “draw my line in the sand and never cross it”. Rudy crossed my line many years ago.

Its good advice for a healthy conservative life.

I am going to stick with it.

I am a happier person for taking that advice.

If I counter your worship, I'm sure you think I should be banned. But my conservatism is real and across the board, and doesn't rest solely on the adoration of one man, as does yours.

I think your adoration of President Bush is every bit as zealous as that of what you claim for Reagan Man. I mean, look at both of your usernames.

The "Day in the Life" threads are a Bush fan club if nothing else.

What your talking about is talking. Not doing.

Rush says it all the time (because he values talking over doing, since that's what he gets paid to do). Reagan was a 'movement conservative.' Bush is not.

If you evaluate what they have DONE, they are comparable, but different.

(btw, Reagan talked about downsizing government, but how exactly did he DO it? Not at all, methinks).

Explain, amicably if you can, what is absurd about that, and how you know I am angry, which I guess you’ve diagnosed as a chronic problem.

Abortion can directly related to national security, also. Slaughtering ourselves into extinction while the Islamists are out-breeding us 3-to-1 isn’t exactly securing the future.

I would have been on a "A Day in the Life of President Reagan" thread if it existed at the time.

I'm enthusiastic about the people I support. It's who I am, and I make no apology for it, as uncomfortable as it makes you feel. But it is part of the reason I know the true and great legacy of Ronald Reagan. I paid attention.

btw, ohioReaganfan didn't seem appropriate when I joined in 2001. :)

Rush says it all the time (because he values talking over doing, since that's what he gets paid to do). Reagan was a 'movement conservative.' Bush is not.

I think that's a fair analysis.

As I pointed out earlier though, I think Bush and the Republican Congress had greater opportunity to cut the size of government than Ronald Reagan.

Reagan can't be blamed for Tip O'Neill.

You DO realize that Wikipedia’s definaitions can be changed by anyone who wants to, don’t you? As such, it is not a reliable reference to anything.

You didn't read my post #1776 thoroughly. I stated: I'm not saying Wikipedia is the sole source of definitions. You would have realized my point is Wikipedia is only one source had you done so. If everyone were in agreement the term "social Conservative" had only one meaning then there would not be multiple definitions for the same term and you would find the same definition in any source! The fact that the definition can be changed, regardless of the source, and has more than one interpretation is the premise of my the term "Social Conservative" is convoluted because it can include one who is a socialist! As such it is not reliable to interpret it only as it is understood in posts #138 and 244. Thank you for for confirming my point!

>>>>>You are guilty of the latter in both cases.......to the point where your conservativism is in serious question.

LOL You're still pathetic!

You're the one who goes bonkers everytime someone points out the fact that Bush is no Reagan. You're the one who believes Bush walks on water. The problem you have with me has been clear for awhile now. When I decided that Bush was wrong on some critical issues to conservatives and I chose to speak out, you began bouncing off the walls. You couldn't control yourself. And you still can't. You decided to defend Bush on all issues, even if he was wrong. You've been proven wrong, time and time again. Give it a break already.

Now you want to make this all about Reagan. Sorry, I'm not about to grant you satisfaction.

Rudy Giuliani is a liberal. Pormote Rudy`s candidacy on Free Republic like Peach and others have, and you'll probably be bannned. At least that is the impression JimRob has given me lately. The choice is yours.
