Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

No I didn't miss anything - oh 'righteous one'. Why is it everyone else 'misses it' but YOU?

There were numerous posts over the past few months of "I'd vote for Hillary before Rudy", "I'd sit at home and let Hillary win", "I'd vote 3rd party to prove my point".

And don't ask me for links. Get off you a$$ and look yourself.

In your narrrow thinking, can't you even grasp a default vote when you see it? And you speak about 'missing the genesis' of a discussion - how rich, oh righteous one!

What I read on this thread is that there are many here who are perfectly willing to let Hillary destroy our military and our entire country.

I do not support Rudy, but I will NOT be a participant in helping an evil Marxist get into the White House.

I love my country too much for that.

You couldn't be farther from the truth.

In fact, an argument could be made that since he is anti 2nd Amendment, our National Security could suffer.

Why is it, that you think Rudy has a franchise on National Security? I would really like to know the answer to that.

:O)

Yes, of course. Even Aristotle knew, and wrote, that not every life was worth living.

BS!

Republicans have never tried to force their religious views on anyone, unlike liberals who seem to think that God is the enemy of the country and have been trying their damnedest, right along with the ACLU to drive religion out of every aspect of American life.

Maybe you should read exactly what the Founding Fathers wanted for this country and what their views on ‘Judeo/Christian’ religon really are, instead of just spouting off total nonsense.

You may be entitled to ‘your view’ but you’ve proven it’s wrong with every word you typed.

In reading the latter part of this thread, it looks like The Great Purge could use a Phase II.

Sooo...how much manure are you willing to tolerate in a batch of brownies? Oh, they look like brownies, and they smell like brownies, and they're certainly brown. But if you know there's an ounce or two of manure in the batch, are you still going to eat one of the brownies? Purity is a good thing, not a bad thing.

While that's certainly a very colorful analogy, it's not a particularly good one. We're not talking about food contaminated with fecal matter, we're discussing the growing demand for idealogical conformity. Worse, we're talking about assigning the designation of liberal to anyone who dares disagree with anything at all. Sorry, but the attaboy simply does not apply to politics.

The humerous thing about the attaboy principle and politics is the absurdity of both sides applying. You'd have conservatives labling 90% of the population as liberals, while liberals would label 90% of the population as conservatives. Nothing but confusion would result.

But it is not so much about purity that has driven the recent bloody fighting here on this forum. When we're fighting from the trenches and we see that some of the people in the trenches are firing on us and fighting for the other side, we have to turn and return fire and clear the trenches of the enemy. We have to shore up what they've undermined in order to invade the trenches.

Spiff, back up a second. Since when has supporting different candidates in a Republican primary been tantamount to enemy fire? Again your analogy is failing, because politics isn't truly analogous to combat. I've been in physical struggles with the intent to genuinely hurt, and it's not the same. It shouldn't be the same. It shouldn't be the same amongst fellow countrymen from different parties, and damned sure shouldn't hold up for intra-party struggles.

I have a grip. And you grossly misunderstand what I said.

IF Rudy is the Republican nominee and he is running against PURE EVIL, the responsible conservative will vote for Rudy.

I, as a strong pro-lifer, will NOT allow one who is gleefully pro-death back in the White House. It's not silly. It's conservative logic.

“FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will.”

After lurking for many years, this is my first post.

FR does NOT fight against the liberals/Democrats. Any outsider that follows FR can see that quite clearly. FR is a mutual admiration society that specifically denies any serious debate on the issues of abortion, feminism, non-Judaeo/Christian religious beliefs, immigration, homosexuality or health care.

There are many extremely articulate conservative voices on Free Republic. But rather than allow those voices to debate and spread conservative ideology, they are limited on this forum to backslapping reaffirmation – a preaching to the choir. This IS NOT fighting liberals/Democrats; it is ignoring them (or worse, running away in fear of them).

As popular as FR is, it represents a small percentage of Republicans. Rather than being a forum where conservative ideas are debated with those who are unclear, uninformed or unconvinced of their value – indeed to actually influence and promote conservative thought – this forum has degenerated into a “closed” society, afraid to debate liberal ideology.

If you don’t want the Republican Party to embrace Giuliani’s “socialism” then you had better be willing to engage in honest debate or conservatism will continue its slow migration to the fringe area of American political philosophy.

“Where is that liberal forum? I want to see it!”

I think its called “Eyes Wide Shut” or something like that.

A quite fitting name for Rooty Rooters I might add.

Sadly, I can no longer say, “That’s beneath you.”

Tough. When I see this thread where we're somehow rejoicing in the bannings of long time freepers who have been with us every step of the way over the past eight or ten years, it sickens me.

I'm sure you want me banned, too.

I see nothing positive about turning on each other in the trenches. The only people who benefit from that are the folks on the other side. They're laughing and saying, hey, they're doing the job for us.

This used to be a forum where we could disagree amicably and learn from each other. We didn't all have to support the same candidate EVEN BEFORE the primaries began.

Things have changed. We can't disagree. We must eliminate.

If that isn't 1939, then you don't know the historical atmosphere of that time.

I heard a lot of folks dis President Clinton for his sexual escapades.

Clinton was a rapist.  I would not classify that as a "sexual escapade".

"Rudy is a NE liberal and that is a fact. Why would anyone on this site support one?"

To paraphrase Kennedy, Rudy supporters "Ask not what Giuliani can do for America but what can Giuliani do for them".

Are you serious? Clinton being called on his escapades was the only thing they would let out in the open - he was guilty of FAR WORSE. Crap, every conservative KNOWS that. And I’m not even addressing his rape fetish.

And if people get banned here they go to other sites. And contribute their thoughts and money there. And Rudy is still running, and still number one in an aggregate of all the polls. And so life goes on....:)
