Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

We won't have to surrender our values like a friendly Frenchman, if someone like Fred can get in and motivate the Conservative base. You will see. Rudy won't win. Hillary may not even win.

The media is trying to tell you who you should vote for. Relax, lets talk about the issues and let people vote for who they believe in. In most cases, we will all get behind that person.

Do we have to start listening to the NY Times all the sudden? If you do, you will start to hyperventilate.

“Voluntary abortions are about as far as one could go”

Thou that is not far enough for you. You want to pay for abortions as well if it comes down to cost/benefit analysis. Well, you agree with one Giuliani policy, paying poor women to have abortions.

Embrace your beliefs man...spread your arms around them, consider voting for Giuliani, you may have other things in common.

I’m tired of being shot by my “own troops”, I’m tired of spending all my time having to watch my back, to sleep with one eye open, to spend my time watching for false, negative, and personal attacks on my conservative candidates from people who claim to be on my side.

WOW! Take a breath man.

I’m still not entirely sure where this idea of Ted Olson as a conservative paragon is coming from. I love BKO as much as anyone, but what exactly is it that allegedly makes Ted above reproach? Is there something in his record to explain this, or is his wife’s murder just being used by the Rudyboosters as a prop to fend off legitimate criticism of Ted’s choices here in the present?

It’s clear when they attack all the other candidates for “liberal” positions that match Rudy’s positions. It’s clear when they discount the importance of much of what Rudy stands for, or argue that Rudy won’t really be in charge of things but will instead defer to conservative advisors on a wealth of issues of importance.

Dig a little deeper sir, you've been skimming the scum and not the cream.

And while it would be better in my opinion if everybody stopped the personal attacks, it would be especially nice if rudy supporters wouldn’t use attack people personally that ARE clearly conservative and support conservative candidates.

Thank you for your directive.

Do not put your words in my mouth - I could take care of it myself, and have not asked for your help. I expressed that I would rather not pay at all, but if I have to pay, I'd rather pay less than more. Further, on the grounds of collectivism abhorrence, I stated that it is "as far as one could go" - take it at face value, and do not twist any futher.

I had it out with PKM months ago. We use to be good forum friends. Once she started to promote Rudy the liberal, all he!! broke loose.

Many RudyBoosters have been looking for a confrontation since at least last August 2006. Right about the time John Hawkins published his anti-Rudy essay ---- The Conservative Case Against Rudy Giuliani ---- and it was posted for the first time right here on Free Republic, by yours truly no less. A great piece of writing, if I say so myself.

A snippet:

"Despite all of his charisma and the wonderful leadership he showed after 9/11, Rudy Giuliani is not a Reagan Republican. To the contrary, Giuliani is another Christie Todd Whitman, another Arlen Specter, another Olympia Snowe. He's a throwback to the "bad old days" before Reagan, when the GOP was run by moderate Country Club Republicans who considered conservatives to be extremists. Trying to revive that failed strategy again is likely to lead to a Democratic President in 2008 and numerous setbacks for the Republican Party."

There’s no question that Jim can do or say anything he wants to at this forum. That’s not an issue.

What is at issue is how stupid you think this forum is. Your reference to the biblical use of “ass” has no relation to the way Jim used it, and I guarantee he’ll agree with that.

He doesn’t need your lame defense, donkeywipe.

Are you a fan of the Broadway musical? I am, and very fond of early Sondheim in particular.

Actually I love musicals, and while I have not seen as much of Sondheim as you probably have, I would have enjoyed 'Follies' I think. Thanks for the link.

One of the best musicals I ever saw was a WAY off-Broadway production of 'Cabaret', a cast of unknowns put on by Wheaton High School in Montgomery County Maryland in 1972, it was one of the finest productions I've ever seen, and I recall that the Washington Post sent one of their reporters out to cover the performance, and to everyone's surprise the reporter stated without reservation that Larry Parish (the high school senior who played the role of the emcee') should have been cast in the big time version of Cabaret instead of Joel Grey, and I have to say: he was -that- good.

Well, back to the thread to survey the carnage! LOL

When your only argument for your candidate is that nobody else can win, you should on a conservative website have the decency NOT to make personal attacks on conservatives who are simply being true to their principles. Sure, those conservatives are saying bad things about you, but rudy supporters are acknowledging forgoing their princples in order to win an election, so you don’t really have the moral high ground.

You attack.

I post articles.

I wasn’t using something called “view home page”. I was going to the browse page, to the search, selecting “search for poster”, and typing in the name.

Maybe different search areas work differently.

It’s common knowledge that conservatives voted for Perot and put him in office.

I challenge that, and think it is absurd. I think moderates of both parties voted for him.

I am not a collectivist - and I do not like collectivist coercion which would be necessary for your scheme. Voluntary abortions are about as far as one could go.

OK. So, if a parent realizes, when their offspring has reached the age of 20 years, that their child is a drain on society, should the parent be then allowed to voluntarily abort that child?

And after what Mia T. said about me and other pro-lifers who don’t support Rudy, I have little patience anymore for the complaints of rudy supporters of being called pro-abortionists or even “treasonous liberals”. I wouldn’t use those words, but if you are going to lie in the mud you are going to get muddy.

I don't know what she said but she was part of the Freeper Family and you sir are too full of yourself.
