JIM ROBINSON AS THE NEW JOSEPH FARAH - STABBING THE CONSERVATIVE MOVEMENT IN THE BACK [Re:Giuliani]
On one the few rational minds left around here - but for long | 4/24/2007 | Al Simmons

Posted on 04/24/2007 10:22:39 AM PDT by Al Simmons

About me:

Lurker - since 1998

Member - since 1999

In self-imposed exile - since April 2007

The tone of the debate and the attacks on long-time fellow Freepers for the cardinal sin of daring to support Rudy Giuliani in early 2007 around here have really saddened me. Instead of fighting the enemy FR is now imposing an 'ideological purity' test on FR members. The well-oiled train has gone off the rails and Mr. Robinson risks becoming the next Joe Farah - a fellow who started a great website for conservative news and opinions, but who gradually drifted off to la-la land, losing all credibility - and readership - in the process.

He has set himself squarely in the Internet media spotlight, doused himself with gasoline, and and lighted himself on fire - a fact that has not escaped the attention of the left-wing lunatics at Daily Kos. Their reporting on what has been going on at FR is perhaps the first factually true account published on their site.

Jim, if that quote of yours about setting up an organization to 'Swiftboat Rudy' is accurate as quoted in their article, the only thing I have to say to you is that you ought to be ashamed of yourself, as you have now become the back-stabber of the conservative cause.

If you wish to marginalize this site by turning it into a narrow "several-issue" forum, that is your right. Just as it is my right to choose to not participate here any longer.

But you will be disappointed if you think that the crude, illiterate "goon squad" you have allowed free rein around here (dmw, narses, dirtboy, extremely extreme extremist, ReaganMan and several others - if I have slighted anyone, please email me if you want onto this list) will elevate the level of intellectual debate.

The result has been predictably in the other direction. That is what happens when you hire a bunch of brown shirts to enforce your own brand of political correctness.

Well, guess what? Politics is 99% BS and one can quite nicely live one's life without the need to bloviate about it. I know how I am going to vote. I could care less about anyone else. Life is too short to waste my time around here when I am clearly one of those made to feel like they are not welcome.

So, go ahead Jim -

MAKE MY DAY. BAN ME. I DARE YOU.

Welcome to

HOW TO WRITE AN OPUS

In 4 easy steps, you too, can construct the perfect opus.  Just choose the appropriate phrases and it's done, easy as 1-2-3.

I signed up at FR back long ago, before it turned into what it is today.  I used to really like FR, but lately
  a) it's become a cesspool
  b) Jim Robinson is losing his mind
  c) the moderators are out of control
  d) all of the above

I will really miss some of my favorite posters... {insert list here - wave and sniff a little thinking about all the people you'll miss.}

I am
  a) deeply saddened at the direction FR has taken
  b) going to find a place to post where people will appreciate me
  c) taking all my toys and going home
  d) all of the above

If you all would just
  a) hog tie Jim Robinson and take over the forum
  b) kick out the Shaivo bots
  c) kick out the Rudibots
  d) kick out the Bushbots
  e) kick out the pro-illegal immigration idiots
  f) kick out the anti-illegal immigration idiots
  g) admit that I know more than you
then I know that FreeRepublic could once again become a force to be reckoned with.

Please heed my warning before it's too late for you all.

And now,
  a) please remove my account
  b) please ban me
  c) let me keep whining a while about how wronged I have been by
     1) the mods
     2) Jim Robinson
     3) the Rudibots
     4) the Bushbots
     5) the anti-immigration crowd
     6) the Shaivo-weenies

Good-bye.

Frankly, I don’t care what he was. If it looks like one, talks like one, and smells like one, by golly it is one.

Rudy is a liberal and will destroy the conservative movement. The libs and RINOS will “own” us. The Democrats will love them for finally once and forevermore “ending the debate” against abortionism, feminism, environmentalism, liberalism, gun control, border control, etc, etc, etc...

Well said, Jim. It's about time the gloves are off.

We are in your corner on this one!

I can't imagine any circumstance I'd vote for Rudy in the primary any more than I can imagine a circumstance I wouldn't vote for him in the general against what the Dems are showing.

I agree he's bad now. I don't agree he'll be any better if he gets the nomination. I'm 1 conservative who won't vote for him, now or then.

All this talk that’s directed to abortion, religion, flat tax is not the real issue!

Abortion is an issue, throw in the RKBA, the war on terror, the idea that somehow people of the same sex shouldn't be legally "married", and immigration as well.

That first amendment thingy precluded the establishment of a state religion.

If you think controlling the borders isn't essential to Homeland security, try playing Age of Empires and not controlling your borders. You will lose every time.

Without the RKBA, we, as individuals are powerless to stop any act of terror, regardless of source, which occurs within our purview. Bad enough we have designated victim zones without making the entire nation into one.

The real issue is which presidential individual will not be cowering like a baby under his Oval Office desk, once the jihadists decide that little Mohammed’s bomb belt is not destructive enough, and decide to drop a nuc on civilization!

Cowering under the desk? Most would have their butt out of D.C. so fast you'd think they disapeared. In all fairness, I believe that evacuation is part of the standard operational plan. That is why the 'football' exists--so we can respond in the event of a large scale attack while the evac is going on.

Chances are a nuke wouldn't be dropped either, but smuggled in and assembled, if it isn't detonated on the transport.

In that context, Rudy holds up pretty well!

As evidenced by what? His military service? nope. Giving the Saudis their measly 10 million back? uh-uh--especially when he knew there would be lots more coming in from both government and private sources.

He even allegedly informed one of his former wives of the coming divorce in a press release instead of face to face. Some courage.

We have other, more conservative candidates who are going to suck up to the jihadis or cower under attack?

Gimmie a break, willya?

Maybe the jihadis will just look at the images of him in drag and laugh all the way to the rockpile to stone him for not wearing a burqa?

(Those images were recently cited by a liberal friend who said they could not vote for a cross dresser, no matter how much they liked his platform---and that speaks volumes abou Rudy.)

How come during the Clinton candidacies we could repeat "Character counts!" and now that seems to be a nevermind?

It still counts, and a victory for Guiliani might be a victory for the Republican party, or what will be left of it, but it will not be a victory for Conservatives or America.

What you didn’t know that John McCain was brought on ethics charges for allegedly raping the wife of a former POW? It was when he was in Congress. He got off on the charges by claiming that the woman was drunk and came on to him, but the woman didn’t imbibe, and still doesn’t, as far as I know. I don’t have copy of any of the articles, but I thought that it was a well known fact.

I didn't know about that either.

Do you have a few credible links. A quick search didn't turn up anything, your charge, your burden.

I consider rape a rather serious charge, as does the legal system, I'd like to know a bit more about it.

I might Imus-out for this but; did you notice that the Dems are running a black white woman and a white black man? And of course there's Edwards who is very confused about everything else.

What else from the party of confusion? No rehab for you! (beautifully put, btw), you missed all the key 'letter'-words.

I agree he's bad now. I don't agree he'll be any better if he gets the nomination. I'm 1 conservative who won't vote for him, now or then.

Guiliani vs Clinton or, more likely Gore, perhaps Obama.

There are no credible third parties, I can make that choice, Guiliani and a LOT of letters to Republicans in Congress.

The more important question, why is the nature of the discussion Rudy vs a Dem

As I've noted before, he's a strong candidate, he's the frontrunner, and IMO any candidate who can defeat him in the primaries can win the general.

Rudy is vulnerable on all the issues, including the WOT where he's elucidated no definitive positions at all, and we worry about what happens after he wins.

Should he get the nomination, who do you plan on voting for?

Tripping over himself would mean, to me, at a minimum a clear public statement that he’d attempt no changes in the 2000 and 2004 Republican Platforms.

He’s tripping
over himself on abortion as he’s tripping over himself on the 2nd amendment.

Your precision is a good thing. Would you believe "shuffling?" "Shifting about?" "Squirming?" "Trying to hide under the podium?"

Hey Al

Have you taken your meds today????

We’ve conducted several polls here with Fred as the clear winner....and Rudy just doesn’t fit in with our definition of “Conservative”....its a big world out there...surely you can find someone or somewhere that is more to your liking.

Fawn,
Good question.

I hope it's sooner, rather than later,,,,because with the accelerated primary schedule next year....

the candidates of BOTH parties will likely be determined by next February!!! Therefore, nine months from now,,,we will KNOW who the candidates will be.
