JIM ROBINSON AS THE NEW JOSEPH FARAH - STABBING THE CONSERVATIVE MOVEMENT IN THE BACK [Re:Giuliani]
On one the few rational minds left around here - but for long | 4/24/2007 | Al Simmons

Posted on 04/24/2007 10:22:39 AM PDT by Al Simmons

About me:

Lurker - since 1998

Member - since 1999

In self-imposed exile - since April 2007

The tone of the debate and the attacks on long-time fellow Freepers for the cardinal sin of daring to support Rudy Giuliani in early 2007 around here have really saddened me. Instead of fighting the enemy FR is now imposing an 'ideological purity' test on FR members. The well-oiled train has gone off the rails and Mr. Robinson risks becoming the next Joe Farah - a fellow who started a great website for conservative news and opinions, but who gradually drifted off to la-la land, losing all credibility - and readership - in the process.

He has set himself squarely in the Internet media spotlight, doused himself with gasoline, and and lighted himself on fire - a fact that has not escaped the attention of the left-wing lunatics at Daily Kos. Their reporting on what has been going on at FR is perhaps the first factually true account published on their site.

Jim, if that quote of yours about setting up an organization to 'Swiftboat Rudy' is accurate as quoted in their article, the only thing I have to say to you is that you ought to be ashamed of yourself, as you have now become the back-stabber of the conservative cause.

If you wish to marginalize this site by turning it into a narrow "several-issue" forum, that is your right. Just as it is my right to choose to not participate here any longer.

But you will be disappointed if you think that the crude, illiterate "goon squad" you have allowed free rein around here (dmw, narses, dirtboy, extremely extreme extremist, ReaganMan and several others - if I have slighted anyone, please email me if you want onto this list) will elevate the level of intellectual debate.

The result has been predictably in the other direction. That is what happens when you hire a bunch of brown shirts to enforce your own brand of political correctness.

Well, guess what? Politics is 99% BS and one can quite nicely live one's life without the need to bloviate about it. I know how I am going to vote. I could care less about anyone else. Life is too short to waste my time around here when I am clearly one of those made to feel like they are not welcome.

So, go ahead Jim -

MAKE MY DAY. BAN ME. I DARE YOU.

But after the convention, STFU, back the winner, and turn out the Republicans, that's what.

Sort of putting the cart before the horse.

How about before the primaries, STFU, back the guy you like, don't be a whiny b!tch if he gets hammered for his liberal policies, and stop telling us who we have to vote for in order to beat Hillary.

And may the best man win!

Then, after (and only after) the dust has settled, we'll get together and talk about strategy to beat the Dems.

I’m skeptical, I admit because I’ve not heard anything about it and it’s not his first electoral campaign. And an accusation of rape isn’t a small thing. I’ll look around a little when I have time, if it made it to the ethics committee there’s a record, if nothing other than throwing it out. Ping me if something turns up.

You made an excellent reply to Al Simmons...good job.

But I would like to make a quick observation on the passing scene. There has been an almost relentless campaign of posting threads about Rudy supported this illegal alien, or did that against the Right to Bear Arms, while Mayor of NYC. I don’t read them, but then again I don’t hate Rudy, but certainly will not vote for him either.

Ouderkirk’s axiom, if the media loves him, then he’s bad for the country.

For now, Rudy is the Republican that the media loves except for McCain, but if he were to win the nomination, you would think that he is Lucifer in carnate.

If Rudy were to win the primaries and go on to win the general, would he be a good president? Maybe, but his past actions would give me some angst. It would depend mostly on who controls the H of R and Senate. Rats on both, and I would be duly frightened. Ditto for RINO’s. Solid conservative majorities in both and I would have a lot less anxiety over a President Gulianni.

Do I think that Rudy in the primaries will give us a president Hillary Clinton, no I’m not of that opinion. The difference is that she’s not running for Senator for Downstate liberals. Just my 2 cents.

I have to ask, are you a McCain fan?

If that was meant for me, not my choice, but in the primaries I'll vote for him before I vote for Rudy. Of those actually in the race, he might well be the best on the WOT. But rape is a serious charge worth knowing about.

" ... stop telling us who we have to vote for in order to beat Hillary."

Your post gives me a chance to repeat something I said in the mammoth thread, and which I have said for several years on this forum. At the end of the day, Hillary Clinton will NOT, I repeat, NOT, be the Democrat nominee for president. I am prepared to make a small wager (I'm not afraid to make a large one, I'm just a working stiff with a wife, two kids and a cat who can't afford to be a high roller) along those lines. So the people who are backing Giuliani because they're so scared of a Clinton being back in the White House that their sphincters are about to open need to take a chill pill, or two, or three.

Thank you, Eva.

“…but I thought that it was a well known fact…”

It no doubt is a well-known fact, but I don’t live in the U.S.; and therefore, I missed that ugly news. I am not surprised, though, at this mentally ill person’s behavior.

Thank you again.

Regards.

Rather than bashing Rudy, how bout telling me why I should vote for your candidate.

Posting the facts about Rudy isn't bashing, for the millionth time.

>> [Jim Robinson] MAKE MY DAY. BAN ME. I DARE YOU.

You rebuke JR’s influence and yet, you request to be subjugated by same.

You should probably take a “time out” and study the history of great leaders. Accepting a marginal leader in desperation is a self limiting proposal that degrades the body and its cause. Better to fight ahead of poor leadership and eventual representation will be born.

But we are losing our collective sanity in the mean time.

I think we are venting our collective conservative anger. I've seen where this Party is headed with Rudy at the helm, and it makes me angry that more don't.

This guy doesn't have the credentials to lead the Republican Party I'm a member of.

So what better time to draw the line and make a stand then early in the primaries?

The bloodletting serves no purpose....it just gives the DUmmies a new FReeper unhinged thread to snicker at.

Let them snicker. It's a sense of false security, because once we come through this, we will be stronger and wiser for having stood up to the creeping liberalism that wants to destroy our nation!

It's time to make a stand, Dog! Right here and right now!

“You liberals thought Rudy Giuliani would give you cover to spew your gun-grabbing, abortionist, homosexual agenda on Freerepublic. You were wrong. Now you are gone. Good riddance.”

What you said. And may these gasbag egomaniac bullies take their tantrums with them.

I with you. I hate to say it like this...but piss on Al Simmons. Just because you’re a long time Freeper doesn’t mean you’re conservative. There are a tons of trolls here from 1998. We are slowly losing them...thank goodness.

Rudy G. doesn’t deserve to have an R after his name. We deserve better in our party and we need standards. JimRob and the rest of us have drawn the line in the sand. We need to standfast.

At the end of the day, Hillary Clinton will NOT, I repeat, NOT, be the Democrat nominee for president.

I tend to agree, but that's not the point.

The point is that we haven't even begun the primaries and we were attacked as Hillary supporters for not saying we'd support Rudy in the generals.

I can't speak for anyone but me, but...I'll be damned if anyone is going to insult me like that without me fighting back!

If anything it made me even more resistant.

No stand....I haven’t decided yet....who I’m backing.

I have no problem with you leaving your options open.

I'm referring to the stand against politically correct, big government, socialist liberals.

I'm a conservative first and then a Republican.

And I stand in opposition to Rudy. It is, IMHO, my duty as an American.
