How Middle-Aged Women Can Serve Their Country (Humor/Vanity)
Self | 1/27/08 | Enough_Deceit

Being a registered nurse, I keep getting computer generated invitations to join the Armed Services. When I tell them that I am 50 years old, they are less than interested, (even though I tell them that I have raised five children and that should count towards combat experience - LOL!).

I also told them that there was nothing meaner than a perimenopausal woman if you crossed her path (or took away her chocolate). The USMC said that we would be too tough for them. LOL!

Imagine the humiliation of those insurgents if they were taken down by a bunch of middle aged women armed with wooden spoons dipped in pork fat.

Just thought I'd share a laugh on a drizzly day.

Another bennie is would the JAG have the nerve to prosecute them?

I think not.

I'll trade your drizzle for my 3-4 inches of global warming.

The notion of using swine products in psychological warfare against a Muslim enemy is a very good one. (The spoon/fork dipped in pig fat.) Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure there are those who would say this violates the Geneva Convention. Even more unfortunately, the powers that be seem to take this seriously. I do like your idea though, and if I was the ‘powers that be’ we would use your idea.

actually I always felt it was a good idea to allow prior service folk back in to do support stuff and leave the rough and tumble stuff to the younger ones.No benis just an hourly rate and a sence of worth

I have always thought that the most terrifying thing we could do is build PMS squads of women, all on the same cycle, and PMS’ing. What group of men could possibly stand such an onslaught? We might never have to use them, but imagine the deterrent factor!

I can think of an even greater scenario than that-—send the mothers of our young troops with their children and watch the whole situation get resolved fast. Mom’s who love their children are fierce fighters when it involves the welfare of their children. Moms who love their children fight for them!

“...send the mothers of our young troops with their children and watch the whole situation get resolved fast.”

Reminds me of a dismal evening when I was attending the Infantry School at Fort Benning. We had been in the woods for about three days. Me and my bud were sitting under a tree, in the rain, eating our cold c-rations when he turned to me and said: “All this would end immediately if only our mothers could see us now. We would be taking a hot shower and eating hot chow or these tac officers would be dead.”

LOL!!! So true. Hey, but when a leg once myself....if it weren’t raining we weren’t training. Tac officers have this thing about needing the constant smell of trench foot, jungle rot, and the smell of the backsides of their superior officers.

Exactly! I am a mom of a new Marine. He just got out of boot camp. Tuesday, he reports to his recruiter’s for 21 days of Recruiter’s Assistance Duty. Then to Pendleton for School of Infantry. After that, more school for amphibious assault. I know that my son is a man. But if I were there, I feel sorry for any insurgent that crossed his path, or any other one of our “boys.” I don’t think that their Mama’s taught them manners. Maybe American Mamas need to do so. LOL

My girlfriend’s son was a Marine...now in the Army. He was in Iraq in May 2003...he made it back home the following Christmas in one piece, but a lot of his friends didn’t. Some nightmares for a while....the whole 9 yards. Hopefully things over there will settle down quickly as W’s plan for that part of the WOT is working.

LOL! I’m 41 with eight children at home. I sometimes think Iraq would be a vacation :-).

My oldest daughter plans to join the service as soon as she’s old enough. With five younger brothers, she’s tough enough to chew iron and spit nails.

I always thought ‘suicide pigs’ (as in bombers) were a great idea. But then we would have to fight PETA as well as the Islamonazis. sigh

A neighbor of my mother's, retired from Army intelligence, was called up from "inactive reserve" in 2006. He was 58 years old! Went to some Army base to train new Intelligence guys.

I served in Vietnam with a chief nurse somewhere in her 50’s.
I was a very young Lt. in the ANC at the time. How she did it I will never know. The heat, monsoon’s, living in tents and worry having so many young people under her command. We buried that lovely Col. last year. She was a sweetheart.

My father did two tours in Vietnam (1967-68 and 1970-71). I didn’t know much at the time, but I’m terribly impressed now with those who got through it.

My daughter has a lot of heritage to live up to, but she’s got the nerve to do it. She plans to join the Air Force (like her father and uncle) and hopes to become a mechanic.

In all honesty the military kinda does this through contractors. It would be a good plan though, to set up government listings for past vets during wartime operations.

You are on a winning track with that son of yours!

Most companies love to hire Marines after thier EAOS!

They make outstanding leaders!

I’m glad to see your pride showing, you’ve earned it!
