Attn McCain Apologists: Talk all you want! (Vanity)

Attn McCain Apologists: Talk all you want!

But he's still a constitution trampling RINO and unless he repeals McCain-Feingold, repudiates amnesty and global warming, drops all support for embryonic stem cell research and stops talking about partnering up with the Democrats and instead swears to fight the evil bastards he won't be getting my support.

You kicked the conservatives to the curb and nominated your RINO, now all you gotta do is get him elected.

However, that shouldn't be all that tough to do. Look what he'll be running against. A corrupt, power hungry Marxist radical feminist control freak or a corrupt, America-hating racist Marxist surrender monkey (oops, can I say "surrender monkey" in this context?). Can't see America going for either of those two useful idiots.

By the way, "change" is a Marxist codeword.

As they say, America deserves better.

Carry on.

P.S.

Or, you can select a kick butt pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-America, pro-gun, pro-drilling, pro-defense, pro-small government, fiscal conservative as your running mate and signal a return to traditional conservatism as the future of the GOP and of America and you will get all the support you need. If she's a moose hunting Alaskan army mom, all the better!

Excellent post. This is called Small Tent Conservativism. Another apt name would be Shrinking Tent Conservatism. I’ve tried to tell people here that is foolish strategy, doomed to failure, but few listen. Ronald Reagan would miserably fail the current tests put forth by many Freepers. Ronald Reagan.

This can only result in an immediate limitation of members in the group

There are either conservative principles or there aren't.

Once conservatives start backing up to every poke in the chest, mud seeps in leading inevitably to smothering.

Sometimes, there are no gray areas.

Which one (McCain or Clinton) makes the best talk radio? Are you kidding? They both do. Don’t you ever listen to Rush?

That’s why I said I was a long time coming to that. I couldn’t believe that anyone could be that stupid, but I’ve changed my mind. Watch Harry Reed or Barbara Boxer on CSPAN, or read the letter I got from Mitch McConnel trying to explain his way out of the immigration fiasco.

McCain is as McCain does. He isn’t going to make any concessions to conservatives. He has defined the new Democratic conservatism. Whatever that is. I think it is a marketing strategy to woo conservatives to the left.

Now I don’t worry about it. He doesn’t get my support and he doesn’t care if he does.

Sounds equitable to me.

shrinker, you've been a member of FR for close to a decade, and you still don't understand what makes JimRob tick.

This is Jim's website, and it's one the best in the nation.

He's merely voicing an opinion which is held by the vast majority of Freepers, to include myself. All the while, he's been gracious enough to allow the pro-McCain forces unfettered posting on his website. In return for that courtesy, the strident barbs from the pro-McCain folks continue unabated.

I respect those of you who will vote for McCain while holding your nose. I simply cannot do it. I now longer consider myself a true member of the Republican Party...I'm simply an independent voter who holds strong conservative views that are now out of the mainstream of the Republican Party.

I will say again that I honor Senator McCain for his service to our country, but his numerous deeds over the past 10 years do not merit my voting for him.

Clinton, Obama and McCain.

Good God! These three losers--all unfit for office--are the best our two-party system is able to offer the American people? No thanks.

I'll concentrate instead on electing conservatives to the House and Senate.

Jim:

I feel just as frustrated, as my tag line suggests. Damn it, there were a couple of good conservatives in the race and we end up with probably the worst of the lot in terms of our values and principles.

Having said that, I still can’t take the rejectionist position. I maintain that we still have to think of the best interests of the country and do the best we can with the choices presented. As deficient as he is in important ways, he is WAY, WAY, WAY, better than the two socialist, pacifist, America hating possible candidates on the D side.
On top of that, I am becoming more and more convinced every day that the likely D candidate, Obamanation, is really a manchurian candidate: a man who has desperately tried to hide the facts of his racist, America hating, marxist, terrorist-symapthizing views.

On balance, we’ve got to bite the bullet and do what’s best for the country. I know many others have argued this and I probably won’t change your mind, but thanks for listening.

Question is, "How do we control McCain?" That is the question indeed. We are so hosed on this election. Everyone needs to think long and hard on this. If, like other Republicans, you denied contributions to the RNC that didn't stop them. We had some good people throw their hat in the ring and then get it trampled on. People with a lot less baggage than McCain, people with better policies than McCain, and yet we still got the scapegoat. How? And now...How do we tame McCain?

Oh, I forgot, silly me. There’s NO DIFFERENCE between McCain or those two.

Nope!

Doesn't matter who gets elected. The country is screwed.

Too many "conservatives" were so worried about beating Hillary, that they promoted every RINO in the bunch over bona fide conservatives.

Now we're left with the choice of three liberals.
