They just got done showing us that no matter how unpopular the legislation, they can get it through.

Besides: they need someone who will vote for them.

There was a point in time when you could not vote unless you were a property owner. Senators were appointed by the States. Maybe not perfect but it worked better than it does now for reasons that are painfully obvious.

I don’t think that an amnesty bill would even have to make it through Congress to ignite wholesale insurrection in this country.

The people aren’t stupid, and given what just happened with the Obamacare bill, the people will rightly conclude that the Socialists will ram this through, as well.

They will also (rightly) conclude, as this author has, that once the illegal aliens are made legal citizens, they will ensure the Socialist lock on Congress forever. That is the end of the republic, and any semblance of the country we know and love.

There will be rebellion, if amnesty even comes close to passing.

12 Million illegals made legal could replace 12 million lost votes, plus with ACORN changing their name to different ones in every state, so they can register and steal votes, well why wouldn’t they be smug?

Also, those 12 million amnestied illegals will be added to the Healthcare bill in form of medicaid mostly, as they are very low income.

It is to me, too. Would we rather have it happen quickly or slowly? If it happens quickly, they'll be out of revenues and out of politics. Worthless money is worthless to government employees and politicians, too. If it happens slowly, they might find another Ponzi scheme to keep it going another 30 years, with a few more measures to control us and keep us from breeding.

I know I’m going to get slammed for this but the plain truth is this: We need a literacy test, a competency test, and proof of citizenship – AT THE VERY LEAST– before one is able to vote in America.

You didn't go far enough. In addition to your conditions (which I agree with), only taxpayers should be allowed to vote. Taxpayers have a vested interest (and a financial obligation) to the nation. Those on the dole don't.

Underage dependents (children) don't vote, and for sound reason. Yet the adult dependent class does.

And the Democrats understand the dynamic of this voting bloc too.

The Socialists must realize that the people can barely contain their anger after the passage of Obamacare.

They'll be rolling the dice big time, if they even think of trying to pass an amnesty bill this year, with the anger still building over Obamacare.

It's a gamble that I think they'll lose, should they try it. There's only so far you can push a people.

Hell, the country exploded the last time they tried to do this. What do you think will happen now?

Anyone on welfare should not be allowed to vote. Maybe a little harsh to some but it is common sense. I will take this a step further. If you have a government job no vote. Most government workers are welfare cases anyway. We don't want to hear from them in any case. Will this ever happen. Not likely.
