'Birthers' Nonsense Sets Georgia Up For Ridicule -- Again

We will risk the fairly safe assumption, as this is being written, that Air Force One did not make an appearance at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport sometime Thursday....

You almost have to laugh at this latest chapter in the seemingly endless “birther” saga, because about the only alternatives at this point are tears and/or nausea.

It was embarrassing enough when members of the Georgia legislature -- including, to Columbus’ acute humiliation, two members of the local delegation -- drafted a “Presidential Eligibility Assurance Act” in the last legislative session.

Now Georgians get to enjoy the added spectacle of their secretary of state, Brian Kemp, warning the president (let that sink in -- warning the president) through a White House attorney that failure to appear in a Georgia court would be “at your own peril.”...

Peach Pundit editor Charlie Harper, in a blog published this week in the Savannah Morning News, wrote: “This is a mistake. We are taught from a young age that we will be judged by the company we keep … The birther argument transcends disagreements of policy and politics and spirals into pure nuttery.” How true.

Georgia, no thanks to some judgment-impaired officials and certainly without the consent of the governed, has been slumming in the Orly Taitz nuttery neighborhood way too long. Please, for the sake of the state’s already battered image, let’s just quietly tiptoe out of this putrid political ghetto and back to the daylight side of town before we attract any more ridicule....

Yes they are EITHER naturalized or natural born. The two are not the same no matter how much you try to make them.

Or derived, as Adolphus Bellei in Roger v Bellei, or created by Statute, as were all Indians after the Indian citizenship act of 1924.

I fail to see how it's "nuttery" to make a candidate for President of the United States, no matter WHO he is, prove that he's qualified constitutionally to hold the job.

14th Amendment: Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.

I guess you missed the bolded part?

Oh, and putting religious issues aside, all laws are manmade.

Not the laws of physics and biology. Speaking of which, it does indeed matter who is the father and what characteristics he possesses. If your theory were correct, there would not be an exception for Slaves, Indians and Diplomats.

I will be convinced when the Supreme Court agrees with you and codifies your opinion. Until then we effectively have only persons who are citizens at birth and those persons who are aliens at birth and at some point after naturalize.

I feel so sorry for you that you must have someone else tell you what your opinion is. Most of us here can think for ourselves and don't need a brain transfusion to know what we think. We can do our own research and come to our own conclusions.

I know that the Supreme court is WRONG on Roe v Wade, and they are also WRONG on Kelo v New London. They are also WRONG on Wong Kim Ark. It must be a comfort to you to not have to worry that the court ever gets anything wrong, but those of us who have a better understanding of the real world can afford no such fantasy.

Again, sorry for your condition.

Don't know where he was born. He claims Hawaii, but Hawaii will give a birth certificate to the child of any Hawaiian resident, regardless of where the child is born. Apart from that, Barack wouldn't even send a copy of what Hawaii sent him to the judge. Funny that. So yeah, it's an open question whether Barack was subject to the jurisdiction of this country or not. At the moment it looks like a birth in White Rock Canada is a plausible guess. It is right on the border with Blaine Washington where Stanley's Aunt Eleanor lived, and in 1961 it was a common practice to send unmarried pregnant(or in this case an interracial pregnancy) girls away to live with a relative. Blaine didn't have a hospital, but White Rock did. Stanley Ann showing up at the University of Washington 15 days later makes a lot more sense if she was already *IN* Washington.

I'm of the opinion that most lawyers are crackpots. Apparently the legal system has to break them of critical thinking before they are allowed to yammer in front of judges.

In any case, if you want to argue that Barack is a 14th amendment citizen, then that proves he is disqualified. Natural born citizens didn't need the 14th amendment to be "citizens."

That is correct. Citizenship, as a natural right, belongs to none but those who have been born of citizens since the 4th of July, 1776.

Citizens are either Citizens of the United States or Natural Born Citizens. There are no other classes of citizenship recognized by the U.S. Constitution.
