200 miles NW of Lovelock, NV, Paisley is located between Summer Lake & Lake Albert. They are remains of Ancient Lake Chewaucan, which was contemporaneous with Ancient Lake Lahontan, the area of “Nevada redheaded giants”.

I know the GGG archives have some stories concerning the Summer Lake area, since I remember commenting on some fo them.

Have to wonder about relationships, if any, since not only were the habitats similar and contemporaneous, but apparently the cultures are too..

Uh, I'm going to guess, "giant, readheaded Tule Eaters, with a perverted taste for Paiutes." LOL

Yes, those are the ones I had in mind.

I’m surprised some San Franswishco perv hadn’t tried to hump those coprolites.

FTA:
Camel and horse remains were found in the caves too, as was duck’s blood.

Huh? Camels were brought west during the Civil War by soldiers, thinking that they’d be good for transport across the desert. I don’t believe they were on the west coast before 1860, so how does that jibe with the 13,000 year old poop?

Also, I dont think there were any horses around there until after the Spanish came in the 1400s.

From Buffalo Bill's autobiography:

While we were in the sandhills, scouting the Niobrara country, the Pawnee Indians brought into camp some very large bones, one of which the surgeon of the expedition pronounced to be the thigh bone of a human being. The Indians said the bones were those of a race of people who long ago had lived in that country. They said these people were three times the size of a man of the present day, that they were so swift and strong that they could run by the side of a buffalo, and, taking the animal in one arm, could tear off a leg and eat it as they ran.

These giants, said the Indians, denied the existence of a Great Spirit. When they heard the thunder or saw the lightning, they laughed and declared that they were greater than either. This so displeased the Great Spirit that he caused a deluge. The water rose higher and higher till it drove these proud giants from the low grounds to the hills and thence to the mountains. At last even the mountaintops were submerged and the mammoth men were drowned.

After the flood subsided, the Great Spirit came to the conclusion that he had made men too large and powerful. He therefore corrected his mistake by creating a race of the size and strength of the men of the present day. This is the reason, the Indians told us, that the man of modern times is small and not like the giants of old. The story has been handed down among the Pawnees for generations, but what is its origin no man can say.

Sound like the Geber, the offspring of the Nephillim — the Fallen Angels— & the daughters of man, against whom God sent the flood of Noah.

There were once camels and horses in North America - relatives of the ones from Eurasia. They were extinct for a long time by the time Europe rediscovered the "New World".

The knowledge? General knowledge about the past - and a trip to the La Brea tar pits will cement that knowledge - the American Lion was REALLY something to see, and those Mastadons were HUGE! Dire wolves were really cool also.

As to the pictures - I got them from a google image search for “North American Camel” and “North American Horse” - if you check the properties you can see the sources.

Well, I know about the tiny pre-horses from the paleontology department of UC Berkeley, but I don’t remember any native camels. I don’t consider the tiny pre-horses to be “horses”. I just wonder if there were a recent article on these finds.

Well they were certainly horses in every sense of the word other than that you couldn't ride them! They were as much horses as the American Lion was a lion, and the American camel was a camel, and the American mastodon was a mastodon. And more so than the 'New World' vulture is an actual vulture (they look similar due to being carrion eaters - but are not actually closely related). Mini - horses are still horses - just mini!
