President Bush: "We are dealing with one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." Push has appropriated vast federal resources to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

78,000 people are currently in shelters. New Orleans evacuation continues. 10,000 additional National Guard troops have been called to service.

Hospitals are running low on supplies, and public health concerns include water borne disease, poor sanitation, food and drinking water contamination and shortages, mosquitoes, carbon monixide poisoning from electricity generators, lack of childcare, and the special needs of the elderly.

They have been hijacking relief trucks, pickups, and anything else they can find.

AP had a picture of looters caught in central louisiana with a full, stolen truck..

STATE POLICE Currently chasing someone coming out of NO, at the I10/I310 split...

I have a brother in Ponchatoula, LA - near New Orleans. Haven't heard from him or his wife since before Katrina hit. I suspect they didn't evacuate, or they'd have checked in by now. I'd appreciate hearing any news about the Ponchatoula area from freepers in the area. Can't seem to find anything on the web about how their community fared. Our mother and my siblings are very concerned. Thanks.

"This is a great opportunity to kull the welfare class in New Orleans."

Wow, I bet your picture is listed next to the word "Callous" in the dictionary.

Why can't people see that this is not a 100% Bush error or a 100% local government error, but a combined cluster you know what that has snowballed into a crisis. Unfortunately none of the news units are totally balanced at this moment. I am not supporting CNN blaming Bush entirely, as cutting funding was not totally his doing, but I am looking on the real reporting.

And who is to question why one did not leave. Perhaps a lack of available flights by the time it was confirmed that NO was the target of Katrina?

Why Dont we just tell the countries that we give all the
foreign aide to, that that will not be getting any more money or other goods until the cities, and residents affected by Katrina are back to normal and running as cities again

That is interesting. Apparently, they are going into cover-up mode.

I never thought I would see that in America.

Guy on Wolf Blitzer's show just said something to the effect the for the Terry Schiavo issue the Congress was called back on the weekend and got there in one night--for this hurricane it's taken a week for them to get back so they can appropriate money for the hurricane. Said it just shows you what is important!

This is the 2X4 the Left will use to beat up our President--and with our Cindy Sheehan "we're all just victims" mentality it will work all too well.

AARRGGHH!!!!!

I'm not talking about the few armed gangsters, you need to read what I say and not make assumptions or change the subject. Yes, floating dead people with their arms full of crap like radios and shoes would get most rational people upset. would you go down there with a gun and literally shoot and kill somebody walking out of a store with six pairs of shoes? Who would you shoot? How would you judge what's going on? Please, this isn't communist N. Korea. I don't want our servicepeople having to go into NO and kill their fellow citizens who have just lived through the worst natural disaster ever in the US. If you think that makes me a 'bad' person, so be it. I don't care what you or the other potty-mouthed people on here think.

"YEAH...HOW 'BOUT YOU GO TO NEW ORLEANS?"

Considering the fact that she is in Baton Rouge and New Orleans is coming to her, I don't think she'd get too far. Now can we stop all this? It's annoying to everyone.

It's not coverup. It's not the purpose of the channel. The channel is for ferrying people around.
