Thought I was listening to Graham Hancock at first. Graham Phillips is in a good pocket of investigation of off-beat, nearly unprovable hypotheses. He makes the short list.

Yes. I forget, but it is a hormone or neurotransmitter. Eating or breathing it wouldn't do anything but it is worth thinking about these things because obviously our ancestors were doing something back then and we don't have much of a clue what.

That was my question. It seems so counter-intuitive that I would like to see the evidence. Frankly, my own opinion is that killing technology just got better, and mankind enthusiatically adopted the new methods.

Interesting how there is never a bunch of stinking bodies left around in a movie like this.
And, of course, the HST watched the fragmented SL-9 disrupting Jupiter's atmosphere as it fell into the planet.
I think the Discovery Channel just had a Tunguska piece, and one of the 160+ theories was that it was a "dead" comet that exploded over Siberia.
So, maybe 12P/Pons-Brooks "died", and for all practical purposes, became a 'roid with a large orbit?
I read the Skiffy usenet group, and they were really going after the latest incarnation of "Flash Gordon" on the production details.
