U.S. birth rate drops as more women say 'no' to motherhood
Toledo Blade ^ | 12/8/2013 | RONEISHA MULLEN

Posted on 12/27/2013 9:55:20 PM PST by MinorityRepublican

The day that her four older siblings finally left home was the day Amy Wexler realized she didn’t want to be a mother.

She’d spent much of her childhood fighting with them over the bathroom, bedrooms, time, and money. When they left home, Ms. Wexler, who was still a teen at the time, enjoyed the luxuries her parents couldn’t always afford with a full house.

“I saw how it was with all of us and that had a big effect on me,” said Ms. Wexler of Toledo. “I just never thought it was my cup of tea. Just like I couldn’t do a surgical job, it’s just not a good fit.”

The U.S. birth rate dipped to an all-time low last year as more women like Ms. Wexler decided against motherhood. In 2012, there were 63 births per 1,000 women of childbearing age, compared to 69 births in 2007 and 118 in 1960, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It marked the fifth year in a row for the birth rate decline and the lowest rate on record since the government started tracking fertility rates in 1909.

Bad news for the country, but possible good news for conservatives. Since conservatives typically have more kids than liberals do, a general drop in the national birthrate means an increased share of a generation will be raised by conservative parents. Whether that ends up with them being conservative depends on the quality of the parent I guess.

When my wife and I met she had not interest in children and said she never wanted them. Then one day she passed a baby Santa outfit and the genetics kicked in.
Many women these days are seeking a career and are putting off marriage and they probably have fewer children or none, then there is the other typical type who have no money and grow a family with six kids on our tax dollar.

The economy is bad, people are delaying starting a family due to economic concerns. It’s the worst economy since the advent of birth control pills in the sixties.

On the other hand there must be a baby boom coming among those in the msm, because all I see are pregnant females doing news, weather, roving reporting, and on many commercials.

I wonder if these same females would have children if they had to make an honest living?

I speak as the oldest of ten children. When I bought my first car, a 1974 Chevy Nova, my first thought was that I could fit four kids in the back seat.

Barbara Walters recently said that her biggest regret was that she did not have more children.

I can't imagine my life without my daughter and three sons, and three grandchildren.

We bring in 1.2 million legal immigrants a year. They vote two to one Dem and account for 75% of our population growth rate. By 2019, five years from now, half of the children 18 and under will be minorities as classified by the USG. The Dems are importing their voters and their numbers are growing.

Most women want to be mothers. They want to be married and have children. It is a fact of nature.

Those who say they don’t want to be mothers usually have had bad childhood experiences in their own family, have not been able to find a good relationship with a man or have some personal characteristic that makes them think they would be failures as wives and mothers.

If you talk to older single women or women without children they are often very bitter.

Yes, I don't like a life that makes me have to accommodate others. . I'd rather be self-absorbed. . .I can use the bathroom as I please.

It's nature's way of making sure selfish people don't procreate.

Conservatives may have more children than libs but the meat stick takers have nothing to do but make more dependents and that is about the only thing they do with vim and vigor.

not to mention real men have no desire to get anywhere near liberal chicks (except for one nighters... which is russian roulette for morons)

and of course, the drastic effect of killing 1.2m babies every year has on the birth rate...

I believe that this is more than just the economy, it is a tipping point in our demographics and urbanization. Being childless, for the first time, seems like a more rational choice. 150 years ago a woman had children as a retirement plan and a business plan to expand the farm. Today, you don't need your own kids because other people's children pay you social security. However, if everyone figures that out, no one would have children. Childless couples and gay lifestyles are luxuries our ancestors could not afford. I believe things will eventually get so bad that people will have to return to having children as a retirement plan, because it will be the only relationship they can trust.

It would be good news if there were no 100% liberal control of the media, culture, TV and Hollyweird. They don’t need kids when they can brainwash and recruit others’ kids.

Miss Wexler may have had somewhat of a point if she went hungry, cold. and unclothed because of a large family. But more bathroom time? More luxuries? In 35 years when she looks back on her life and choices, will it have been worth it?
