Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |
Gee...is any tradition scriptural, or only yours?
I've tried to access some Wanderer websites to subscribe, but none that I've found are active. Do you know of an online site where I could subscribe?? Thanks.
When you scream "Frog" at them, and when they jump they ask how high on the way up. :)

I don't really have a defense of the Palestinians. I am just wary, as I said, of defining the actions of one nation as "God-ordained."
Can you tell me that every action every person acting in the name of Israel has done has been upright? I refuse to look at the situation as black and white. Yes, I defend Israel's right to exist and protect herself. I mostly think the "Palestine" thing is a farce, as the peoples rightly belong in Jordan and other Arab a nations. I just have a problem when people use the Bible as a guide to foreign affairs.

True, but I wasn't gonna say it, for fear of being accused of trying to "lessen" the impact. It is no generally small children, but rather teenagers who are the victims of homosexual attacks.
1)an all Celibate clergy will lead to a higher percentage of homosexuals among the clergy population than among the general population.
That is a general description of how things apparently are now.
2)a higher percentage of homosexuals will lead to a higher instance of pederasty
Again, this seems tob e what we are seeing.
3) Therefore, the introduction of married priests will lead to a lower instance of pederasty among the clergy than presently exists.
This is the "flood 'em out" theory. The problem is that even if manly men with wives and children come to the fore, bishops will still be selected from the celibate, which leaves us with leaders who have the same corruption.
Obviously, an alternative is to more thoroughly screen homosexuals out of the ranks of the celibate clergy, in which point number 1 above becomes false.
Bingo. The seminaries which screen out orthodox candidates have shortages. What is needed to be tried first is to simply fire every person involved with any seminary where this is the case. Out go the bishops, the chancery staffs, the feninist nuns, etc.
I would like to try a return to orthodoxy first. If that still leads us into trouble, then perhaps celibacy could be made optional. To do so now would be an admission that celibacy is the problem, when it isn't. Likewise it would be a "victory" for the progessive forces who wish to see priestesses and homosexual rights acknowledged. I can't bear, at this moment, to hand them a "aictory" when it was their "progressive" policies which led to the current crisis.
It's like when liberals in Cognress royally screw up something (like health care) and then demand that they be given more control over it.

Hey guys, maybe you can clear up this Queen thing with Mary.
She was called "Queen of the Saints" in a recent RC prayer posted. Dave says it means Queen Mother, which seems rather weird because then the Saints would be kings. Of course if she's Queen Mother of Jesus, then why not say Queen Mother of Jesus?
My point of course is that if someone is a "Queen" then that means that they have rulership over something. What does Mary have rulership over? I'm really curious, it can be from tradition or whatnot, I'm just looking for an answer.

Then I guess I don't understand what you mean by this:
this is not an excuse to simply ignore the other sides to the present difficulties
They have never been very good at having their website be very up to date, but then again, they are in the business of printing a weekkly newspaper and I am sure their effort goes into that. In any event, the web page has an email link to request a free copy, which would have the necessary subscription stuff with it.
It runs $40 a year, though you may get a discount for your first time. It is weekly with no exceptions and is absolutely indispensible.

LOL.
Two of my favorite quotes for what I call The Freeper Wars:
"Good is never done except at the expense of those who do it: truth is never enforced except at the sacrifice of its proponents - for nothing would ever be done at all, if a man waited to do so well, that no one could find fault with it."
--John Cardinal Newman
"I'm not called to be successful. I'm only called to be faithful."
--Mother Teresa
In my best Gomer Pile voice surprise surprise surprise!. :)

I am sure that living as a Palestinian in one of the "occupied" areas is no picnic. I am sure that there have been incidents where Israeli forces acted with undue force or acted in a manner which could be harrassing.
Am I wrong?

The recently deceased Queen Mum of England was a Queen not just to Elizabeth II, but also to the British people. That is, Mary being Queen is Queen of all in Heaven, not just those Him Who she carried.
My point of course is that if someone is a "Queen" then that means that they have rulership over something. What does Mary have rulership over? I'm really curious, it can be from tradition or whatnot, I'm just looking for an answer.
Without wanting to start an argument or anything, tradition gnerally holds that Mary serves as the conduit through which the Grace of God enters the world. Christ earned the Grace by His Sacrifice. Christ entered the world through Mary. Grace entered the world because of Christ. Therefore Grace enters the world through Mary. This makes Mary the dispenser of Grace.
This is not to say that Mary acts of her won will, or by her won power. Rather, her will is completely in line with that of God.

I'm sure it was no picnic being a soldier or civilian in Iraq during the Gulf War. I'm sure the families of the terrorists who killed 3000 of our fellow citizens grieve their deaths. Frankly, too bad. I have no sympathy for them. The time for "feeling their pain" has passed. I have no desire for innocent civilians to suffer. But the alternative is to do nothing, and that is unacceptable.
