A poll by SurveyUSA , as of January 26, 2006, should make the GOP very nervous. For example the top ten senators with the highest job approval consist of six Democrats, two RINOS and one maverick. Kilgore Opens Strong In VA A couple days ago I was bemoaning the lack of polls from Virginia. Today, Survey USA fills that void. VIRGINIA GOVERNOR Kilgore (R) 46% Kaine (D) 36% Potts (I) 6% Good to see Kilgore has a double-digit lead even when the “Independent-Republican” candidate is included. Looking at the demographics, it is hard to say the Potts is hurting either Kilgore or Kaine, more like he is taking votes away from both equally. This poll was done March 8-9 of 493 registered voters.

I've analyzed the pre-election surveys of the 10 major multi-state polling firms. They were: American Research Group (ARG), Fox, Gallup, Quinnipiac (Q), Research 2000 (R2000), Rasmussen (Ras), Strategic Vision (SV) Survey USA (SUSA), and Zogby. I found Survey USA to be the best. Of the 35 states which I researched, SUSA polled in 29 of them. They were correct every time. What was truly astounding was their track record in states where the contest was not close. Also a few Senate polls: SC-DeMint+11 NC-Burr+5 PA-Specter+19 FL-tied Numbers are uninteresting other than the tie in Arkansas which is not accurate. They claim that Bush's support in rural areas has dropped by 24% in the last week. That's just not possible. There is error in any poll, but that's bizarre. In Florida these numbers represent a slight move towards the President, and Mel Martinez. In Ohio there has been a swing of 5 points towards the GOP in the final week. They're seeing a tied Nevada, and nobody else is. None of the other results are very interesting except noting that Gore had better margins than this in NJ (Gore +16), MD (Gore+17), and IL (Gore +13). I don't care what anybody says, Virginia isn't in play, and Nevada, if it was in play before, isn't in play anymore.
