A Call For Unity

Posted on 09/22/2008 10:55:58 PM PDT by robert david

Now that there are but six weeks left before the next president of the United States is chosen, all Republicans and conservatives need to become united in our effort to insure that John McCain is that person.

I call for a cessation of attacks against McCain. He is our candidate.

We should be concentrating all our efforts on defeating Obama not helping him by attacking McCain. If necessary, moderators should remove threads and posts that are anti-McCain. In this late hour, an attack against McCain is an endorsement of Obama. We cannot afford to lose this election for it will be the end of America as we have know her.

Good Gawd, man! McCain is insisting on beheading Chris Cox and replacing him with Andrew Cuomo!! How stupid is that, huh?

Senator McCain has no idea what caused this crisis. If he did he would be treating all Democrats as though radioactive.

I’m voiting for Sarah Palin. Screw McCain.

I was a Romney, Thompson, Hunter or Tancredo guy, not McAmnesty.

We have to vote for him, that is a foregone conclusion, but he needs to stop the pandering and “middle ground...hate business” garbage.

I really enjoy Palin and her resolve. She bore 5 children and is a governor, who can say that? Obama is a failure and the only reason he is this far is because of the MSM.

McCain will get an earful (like the e-mail I sent his office today) about his three strikes:

1) Attack on business
2) Open borders agenda
3) Global warming hoax

I will NEVER stop hammering him on that...but in reality, Obama will push a Marxist agenda with a Democratic Congress that could see open borders, billions and billions of aid and full-fledged Socialism here, including slave reparations. Gay marriage, SCOTUS Liberal appointees...the list goes on and on.

Senator Christopher Dodd and Congressman Barney Franks have their fingerprints all over this financial debacle. At the center of this vortex lies FreddieMac and FannyMay, all brought about by politics - currying favor with certain segments of the voting public by providing handouts from Uncle Sugar.

Franks is now advocating that unqualified people who had mortgage loans they couldn’t afford and never should have had, now just be “given” their homes, write off the loans never having to pay them off.

This isn’t DU or DailyKos. Writing anything more than the mildest criticism of His Holiness or Jumpin’ Joe will get you banned, there.

Reasonably phrased dissent is allowed here.

Shoot, they allow dissenting views at Salon and Huffington Post!

I have been a McCain supporter from the beginning (after Fred Thompson). I don’t want this to become a “yes Johnny” site.

If someone has something legitimate to say against McCain or Palin, I am not afraid to hear it.

The thing to keep in mind is that President Bush—who I support—has created an almost insurmountable headwind for any Republican in this election season.

He did so by refusing for his entire tenure to explain or defend himself, thus allowing his enemies to define him and his policies and, by extension, Republicans and conservatives.

It continues to this day. The president supports the largest financial bailout in global history, but he refuses to go on TV and explain why he thinks it’s necessary. As a result we have panic, rumors, and misunderstandings flying everywhere. It’s just possible that this could cost the Republicans the election.

But President Bush will give his standard cop-out of “We’ll let history decide,” which is another way of saying, “I can’t be bothered.”

So McCain must walk an almost impossible line here. He has to appeal to the electorate, which has been hammered for eight years with lies that President Bush has refused to debunk. McCain has to present himself as “bipartisan,” or else the public will lump him in with President Bush and the GOP leadership.

Just remember that Newt Gingrich and Fred Thompson are campaigning their hearts out for McCain. If McCain wins, he’ll owe them, and they won’t let him rule as a liberal.

And McCain’s sense of honor and obligation won’t let him betray them.

If McCain wins, I think we’ll be okay.

We should be way past our issues with McCain.

The American way of life is about to be flanked and slaughtered by hard-core leftists.

You had better shake-off the mass-media-haze and really look again at Obama and the real-deal leftists who have hijacked our country’s second political party.

The “It can’t happen here” denial game will end with you and yours standing in some government food line, or under a boot.

These people are as serious as a major heart-attack. They mean to get what they want. They are intent on seperating you from the life you have known—from the America that you have known.

If you stop and take-in just how precarious is our present situation you’d see we are at a critical juncture in our history.

Consider our economy—who brought us here? Was it Wall Street? Or something more sinister—a “problem-reaction” scenario brilliantly executed? HAVE WE BEEN FORCED INTO MOVING OURSELVES TOWARDS SOCIALISM (bailout)?

It’s perfect: Create a quasi-private abomination and give it a warm and fuzzy name.

Then, kind-heartedly, provide large numbers of loans to those who couldn’t possibly be relied upon to pay it back.

While you’re at it put pressure on legit lending institutions to loan to “underrepresented” poor people.

It’s a time-bomb from the get-go!

Then you wait for it to fall.

There are only two possible outcomes: total financial collapse of a capitalist system or you have guaranteed a HUGE swing towards socialism with a “bailout.”

Either way, it’s chaos, stress and anxiety that can be an awefully useful tool for “CHANGE.”

And all the while you will “HOPE” there is a way out of it.

Here comes the annointed one to “save the day”: “We are the ones we have been waiting for!” and “Yes we can.” Isn’t it such a beautiful contrast—a SIGHT for sore eyes?

It’s absolutely masterful—if it happened that way.

The other explanation is even more frightening—our leaders are completely corrupt and/or completely ignorant and we’re doomed even without the unfriendly nudge of the left.

So what’s the problem, Boucheau? We’ll just print more money, no problemo compadre, relax.

Consider our military—how thin are we?

Consider Social Security, Medicare, the dumbing-down of our population, healthcare costs, etc., etc., etc.

Consider your reaction to what I’m writing here—Do you think I’m over-the-top? Think that our Republic couldn’t possible fall? Do you believe that it couldn’t be radically altered by the real-deal far-left? The plans drawn while you worked to pay your taxes, or watched your big screen TV?

I’m sure you wouldn’t deny the heavy clouds over America right now—any yet you might believe it couldn’t possibly rain.

Look at Obama’s teachers and friends.

What will better predict a man’s future behavior than his past and the company he keeps????? And by company, I mean people he has kept CLOSE over the years.

You are being told it shouldn’t matter—that it’s wrong to conclude he’s “guilty by association”—how dare you pass judgement.

As humans our only tool of survival is our ability to pass judgement folks: “Is this good for me, or bad for me.” Trust your judgement—his beliefs and his character REALLY ARE that dangerous.

The media will not show you the real picture here. No, not even Fox News will come near the reality. They are too “high-road” for that one—too measured—far too “reasonable.”

Step back, take a pause and really examine what is unfolding.

We’ve had it good for so long I’m wondering if we can no longer fathom a real threat to our loved ones, our livelyhood, our liberty or our country.

How many ways does Obama and his ilk need to blatantly reveal their un-American and anti-American tendencies?

I’ll take the war hero with an uneven voting record ANY DAY.

And so should all Republicans.

Let’s unite and defeat them!

Republicans! It is time to form a cohesive group and nail it down.

McCain is a traitor to Conservatism. As long as FreeRepublic remains free, I will continue to remind people of that fact. I am diametrically opposed to McCain, and will remain so. I am also opposed to the RINO governed Republican party. As long as it remains in RINO hands and continues it's headlong march into socialism/globalism, I will oppose it as well.

Nothing is more pitiful than a fallen hero, and nothing more despicable than a champion who has vacated the field. John McCain and the Republican party represent that in spades.

When Republicans start acting like the House of Reagan, I might give them the loyalty they look for, but not as they are, and certainly not under the baleful glare of the despicable Mr. McCain.

You know, if McCain is going to lose because some on FR blows off steam when McCaind does something stupid, I'll eat my hat.

I think people need to get over themselves and understand that online, particularly in the comments of a post, people can express their opinion. Urging people to self-censor themselves on an online political message board kind of misses the point of online message boards.
