Under President Obama’s new policy, however, if the state that has just attacked us with biological or chemical weapons is “in compliance with the Non-Proliferation Treaty,” explained Gates, then “the U.S. pledges not to use or threaten to use nuclear weapons against it.”
Imagine the scenario: Hundreds of thousands are lying dead in the streets of Boston after a massive anthrax or nerve gas attack. The president immediately calls in the lawyers to determine whether the attacking state is in compliance with the NPT. If it turns out that the attacker is up-to-date with its latest IAEA inspections, well, it gets immunity from nuclear retaliation. (Our response is then restricted to bullets, bombs and other conventional munitions.)
However, if the lawyers tell the president that the attacking state is NPT noncompliant, we are free to blow the bastards to nuclear kingdom come.
This is quite insane. It’s like saying that if a terrorist deliberately uses his car to mow down a hundred people waiting at a bus stop, the decision as to whether he gets hanged or 100 hours of community service hinges entirely on whether his car had passed emissions inspections.
Apart from being morally bizarre, the Obama policy is strategically loopy. Does anyone believe that North Korea or Iran will be more persuaded to abjure nuclear weapons because they could then carry out a biological or chemical attack on the United States without fear of nuclear retaliation?
The naivete is stunning.

Greece Charges Two Men As 14th Parcel Bomb Is Found

Two men have been charged with terrorism in Greece as the parcel bomb terror scare escalates.
The pair, Panayotis Argyrou, 22, a chemistry student, and Gerassimos Tskalos, 24 were arrested on Monday as the co-ordinated attack launched. The pair reportedly refused to speak at their court hearing saying they did not recognize the validity of the process. They have been charged with committing acts of terrorism, belonging to a criminal organisation, possession and use of bombs and explosives.
They are beloved to have been responsible for a parcel bomb sent to the office of French president Nicholas Sarkozy as well as another addressed to the International Criminal Court in The Hague. Greek authorities are reportedly seeking another five suspects as they seek to smash the ring. Greek police announced today that they had intercepted and defused the 14th parcel bomb this week.
The wave of bombs has seen police boost security around embassies and also saw the temporary halting of all airmail heading out of Greece.

A senior member of the Saudi royal family warned Thursday that Republican
victories in this week’s elections will encourage what he called
“neoconservatives” and “warmongers” to push back against the Obama
administration’s peace initiative in the Middle East.
Observers said that Prince Turki al-Faisal, the kingdom’s former
intelligence head who also served as ambassador to the United States, was
likely delivering a message on behalf of the Saudi government when he
launched an outspoken attack on the supporters of Israel in Washington.
“Neocon advisers, American conservatives and Zionist extremists” promoted
policies “that continually throw a wrench into the progress of peace,” the
prince told an audience at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in
Washington.

The reclusive state of Burma, also known as Mynamar, has been cut off from
global networks after a massive cyber attack on its national systems.
The attack comes as the country builds up to elections on Sunday that have
been dismissed by pro-democracy advocates.
It is believed to have started late in October before escalating in the past
two days.
Some believe the attack is being orchestrated by the country’s ruling
military junta as a means of restricting the flow of information outside the
country.
The attack has taken the form of a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS)
which works by flooding a designated target with an overwhelming amount of
data.

Morocco captures two foreign-led Al Qaida cells
CAIRO - Morocco has reported the dismantling of two Al Qaida cells.
The Moroccan Interior Ministry said two cells linked to Al Qaida have been
captured. The ministry said the cells were composed of four and five
members, respectively, and led from abroad.
“As part of sustained efforts made to fight terrorism, the security services
recently dismantled two terrorist cells, composed of four and five members
respectively, including a Yemeni national closely linked to Al Qaida
organization and wanted by his country, as well as two former convicts who
were sentenced on terror charges,” an Interior Ministry statement said.
The statement, released on Oct. 29, identified the first cell as the Sahrawi
Jihad Front. The ministry said the group, led by a former resident of Italy,
was planning insurgency attacks to advance the interests of the
Algerian-backed Polisario movement in Western Sahara.
“Investigations revealed that the first cell, dubbed the Sahrawi Jihad
Front, led by an extremist, former Italian resident and pro-Polisario, was
planning to commit terrorist acts,” the ministry said.
This marked the third time over the last two months that Morocco has
announced the capture of an Al Qaida cell. So far, the North African kingdom
has not reported any attacks by the Islamic insurgency network.

Iran finances mosques and sends imams to Norway. Here they preach hatred against the West. The aim is to prepare Norwegian Muslim ideological to carry out terror attacks, if they’ll be ordered to do so one day, a source told Norwegian broadcaster NRK.
Saudi Arabia is not the only one who finances the building of mosques in Norway. In the battle to win the hearts of European Muslims with a very conservative extremist version of Islam, Iran also finances mosques and sends imams here. Norwegian Muslims are being prepared for action.
