Raqqa, Syria
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.
"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."
An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.
Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."
According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.
"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."
So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."
Yes, the stripey cat looks like s/he would fight to the death for his own Squee!
I hope the chair is still there! It would be nice for you to have two of them. Will you set them by the fireplace?
Ha ha! We mostly have a mail lady, unless she goes on vacation, and then we have a grab bag of carriers until she gets back. Often, we have to give them directions! LOL!
But I will wait for her with bated breath!
W00t! Look at you! Another double ought! Woo-hoo!
I didn’t know with amazon prime I get a copy of said cd downloaded to my app.
As of 3 am my time it’s in there. I’ll be listening to it shortly. I think I’ll like her 80s stuff better but that’s just me
Amazon Prime is pretty cool, and if I could afford it, I would have it. I REALLY like the services and benefits the upgrade extends.
The sun is trying to come through the clouds but I don’t think the skies will clear up completely, today. The high is supposed to be 70 — yesterday, it was 91. :o|
Gym has been survived. Library is next, and then the consignment store.
If I get the second chair, I’ll put it in the dining room. Maybe by the fireplace (although it’s turned off). I could move the piano.
And it’s trying to rain, here. The worst of it is on the west side of the valley, but we’ve had a few sprinkles here. It’s probably not raining right now, because Carlos is out mowing the grass.
I really need to call RAC when they open, because I can’t even download OpenOffice.org on this thing. GeronL emailed a story to be proofread, and I can’t even open it. GAH!!Dang! That stinks! It means I’ll have to hand write the letter the my grandson on Sunday. Ohwell. It’s a time killer.
Were you able to get the other chair?
Just throw a few on the floor when start, they will end up there anyway so it sames time.
Yes, I got the second chair. Shannon has pretty seriously taken possession of the original. It allows her to watch the front door easily.
YAY!!!!
I’m so glad it was still there! And good for Shannon. The queen of all she surveys. :o]
YAY!!! The mail was, indeed, good to me! Thank you so much! I can hardly wait to listen to it!
Shannon is very pleased with herself.
Shannon should be pleased. And since Jake has the new bed on the craft bins, it’s only fair that Shannon should have something of her own, as well!
I finally got in touch with the guy I needed at RAC, (after three calls in two hours) and he is currently downloading Win 10 on another machine and will bring it to me as soon as it’s done. YES! Now I just have to ask him if it has Adobe Flash Player.
I got a Mom’s Day card from my son, but my daughter won’t give me one, for whatever reason. I didn’t have the money to get either my daughter or DiL Mom’s Day cards, but I will text them.
Good news about the computer. I went and put gas in the boys’ car: I plan to drive it to the airport early in the morning to get the girls.
*tagline*
Sometime I forget witch ones are kids and witch are names. But all is well, that makes the post more interesting sometimes.
I was almost finished with a post to you, and lost it, thanks to Win 8.1. So let me try to reconstruct.
Thunder has been rolling around for about the last 90 minutes, but no rain, and nothing close, so I’m hoping we have no power outages.
Last night, as I was lying in bed, my phone rang. It was my brother and his wife in CO, singing “Happy Birthday” to me in harmony, as they do every year. I hated to tell them they were 10 days early, but I did!
I get so excited when they call that I think I’m rude, so I will have to apologize to them.
Anyway...
That seems to be what I lost. And I’m SOOO ready for bed! I really wish RAC would call.
And sweet Charlie gave me a roll of quarters, telling me “not to worry” that I had no cash to pay him for it. :o]) I’ll have to cook for him again, I guess!
Just double-check to make sure they aren't really old. If they are old enough, they are real money.
Actually all you have to do is look at the sides. If you can see bands of different metal, then the only thing precious about it is the fond memory of what coinage once was.
These were all newly (?) minted Kentucky quarters. If there are old quarters, I’ll sift through them to see if there are any “real” quarters. They’re getting harder and harder to find.
When I was in Tucson, in 2005, my neighbor, the coin collector, gave me a full set of 1944 coins. I love it! And the last time Charlie gave me quarters, he gave me a $2 bill. :o] I love getting those! I’ll have to ask him for more, as he uses a bank and I don’t, so I don’t have access to the $2 bills.
