PHYSICS ARTICLES DISCUSSION FORUM Fusion and the LHC (Large Hadron Collider)
Gravitonics article found HERE.
Located near Geneva, close to the border between Switzerland and France, the Large Hadron Collider is the largest particle accelerator in the world at a cost of about 9 billion dollars.
It is strange how we love to put all of our eggs in one basket. At the same time 9 billion was spent on the LHC, Dr Bussard could not find a few million for his fusion reactor. Don't get me wrong, the Physicists working at CERN are some of the best in the world and the reason I'm mentioning them is the analogy between the LHC and the TOKAMAK approach to fusion.
We've been promised fusion since the 50' and there is very little to show in terms of practical achievements. But we made the decision that the TOKAMAK is the way to go. How can we tell if the TOKAMAK path is the right one before it works? And what is a few millions more if it means following two avenues to fusion?
Dr Bussard talks at Google, Novemeber 9-th, 2006, see video. This presentation can be understood by anyone that has completed the Physics sequence in an engineering program or the equivalent.

Kevmo's activity at Intrade, getting the Arata Cold Fusion contract listed and now trying to get naysayers to put up or shut up.

This contract will settle (expire) at 100 ($10.00) if Dr Yoshiaki Arata's Cold Fusion experiment is replicated in a peer-reviewed scientific journal on/before 31 Dec 2008.Seems like an appropriate topic to ping.
The contract will settle (expire) at 0 ($0.00) if Dr Yoshiaki Arata's Cold Fusion experiment is NOT replicated in a peer-reviewed scientific journal on/before 31 Dec 2008.
An example of hot fusion. It's pretty hard to make any money at it, though....
wow lots of long winded insults. Have a great life, hope you don’t lose too much money on the great lie of cold fusion. It doesn’t work, it never worked, it cannot ever work, those that say they have it working are conmen. Good luck out there.
What a silly gimmick. Did Edison hang out in poker parlors and dare people to bet against his electric light bulb?
No. He built an electric light bulb and turned it on and showed the world it worked.
Turn cold fusion on. Show the world it works. Spare us you cheap parlor betting games.
I don’t know how you are seeing the old contract that expired in 2008; every time I go to Intrade I see the 2009 contract.

Agreed. That’s why I asked “Anyone generating electrodollars from that yet, hmmmm? After 30 years & $billions poured into it?” But the guy doesn’t seem to know the difference between fusion and fission.
It doesnt work, it never worked, it cannot ever work, those that say they have it working are conmen.
***It’s razorbacks like you that are the conmen in this scenario. You mock something for 20 years that you have zero understanding of... you show that you don’t even know the difference between fission and fusion. If the American Chemical Society is a bunch of con men then you have more worries than just how ignorant you are of fusion.
What a silly gimmick. Did Edison hang out in poker parlors and dare people to bet against his electric light bulb?
***Edison did all kinds of gimmicks in his day.
No. He built an electric light bulb and turned it on and showed the world it worked.
***And he fought a losing battle for electricity distribution by insisting that DC was better than AC... it was Tesla who invented the 3 phase electric motor and turned it on, and he also proved that AC was better than DC for power distribution.
Turn cold fusion on.
***I’d love to. But I don’t have the wherewithal. Just taking $1B from the Tokomak or the LHC would turn it on but the naysayers are in control for now, so guys like me are stuck with making a point on debate boards & threads and challenging naysayers to put their money where their mouths are. The naysayers aren’t. Their game is up.
Show the world it works. Spare us you cheap parlor betting games.
***Up until now it has been cheap parlor tricks that have been holding cold fusion back. But the tide is turning this year. If anyone’s convinced cold fusion is such a con then they can take my money. No takers. The naysayers are a combination of snipers, peacocks and prairie dogs that run back into their hole.

I got to it, looks like there’s a typo in the link.
Thanks.
If he only needs a few million he should be able to get it in the private sector and stop whining about not getting taxpayer money.
Because I’m quoting from the very page you’ve repeatedly linked:

Details of the experiment can be found HERE.
Expiry will be based on publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, as reported by three independent and reliable media sources.
Due to the nature of this contract please also see Contract Rule 1.7 Unforeseen Circumstances.
The Exchange reserves the right to invoke Contract Rule 1.8 (Time Protection) if deemed appropriate.
Any changes to the result after the contract has expired will not be taken into account - Exchange Rule 1.4
Please contact the exchange by emailing help@intrade.com if you have any questions regarding this contract before you place a trade.

***The better question from a conservative’s perspective is why did the other guys get $9B from the taxpayers? It’s plain to see that money on those orders of magnitude is better spent on projects such as Dr. Arata’s or SPAWAR’s experiments.
I see it now.
When I click on the link, at the top it says
Dr Yoshiaki Aratas Cold Fusion Experiment
Dr Arata’s experiment to be replicated in peer-reviewed scientific journal on/before 31 Dec 2009
but when I click on Contract Specific Rules, the typo is there. I’ll alert Intrade. Thanks.
It may explain the lack of interest in the contract, seriously.
