How Earth's orbital shift shaped the Sahara
Physorg Earth Sciences ^ | December 21, 2010 | Anuradha K. Herath

The Sahara, the world's largest desert, was once fertile grassland. This fact has been common knowledge in the scientific community for some time, but scientists are still grappling with historic data to determine whether that transition took place abruptly or gradually.

At the European Geosciences Union General Assembly held in Vienna, Austria earlier this year, researchers presented new evidence showing that the eastern region of the Sahara desert, particularly the area near Lake Yoa in Chad, dried up slowly and progressively since the mid-Holocene period.

Man what an idea you’ve given me! The ultimate cure for global climate change in a “natural way”.

Here is what we can do. We’ll take all the nucs that dumbo has retired and we’ll make whole bunch of cratering charges. Then we’ll take them down to Central America and open the isthmus. We’ll space the charges so that the newly created current will erode the remaining earth thus maximizing the benefit of the nucs. The Pacific Current will be captured and we’ll have velocity jump induced waves in the new Straight of Central America. There will be more-or-less permanent standing waves and the surfing will be outstanding!

El Nino will be broken, the Sahara will become green, we won’t have to hear about feeding Africa. The new circumequitorial current will spread prosperity throughout the globe and peace and prosperity will prevail.

This will work so well others will want to take our lead and complete the project. Israel will be in the way but excavation could go either north or south for those who don’t want to destroy the Holy Land. Only part of Egypt and Yemen would have to be obliterated. Alternately, Syria, Lebanon, part of Iraq and Kuwait could be excavated and the project completed in the straights of Hormuz by removing part of Oman and Yemen. Oil production may be reduced but the hydroelectric power potential would be extraordinary!

Panama, Nicaragua and Costa Rica may have problems with this plan but they could be relocated to the newly arable land in North Africa! It’ll be just magnificent!!!

Scientists from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory say that the current melting of ice in Greenland is already causing the tilt to change at a rate of approximately 2.6 centimeters each year

Glacier Girl was recovered from beneath 270 feet of ice on the Greenland ice sheet: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glacier_girl . The aircraft did not bore into it to get there. It landed and was abandoned in 1942 and recovered 50 years later in 1992. 270 feet of ice were deposited in those short 50 years and NASA is telling me that the ice is melting? Drain that swamp.

The Histories
by Herodotus
Book IV -- Melpomene
tr by George Rawlinson
Thus from Egypt as far as Lake Tritonis Libya is inhabited by wandering tribes, whose drink is milk and their food the flesh of animals. Cow's flesh, however, none of these tribes ever taste, but abstain from it for the same reason as the Egyptians, neither do they any of them breed swine. Even at Cyrene, the women think it wrong to eat the flesh of the cow, honouring in this Isis, the Egyptian goddess, whom they worship both with fasts and festivals. The Barcaean women abstain, not from cow's flesh only, but also from the flesh of swine.

West of Lake Tritonis the Libyans are no longer wanderers, nor do they practise the same customs as the wandering people, or treat their children in the same way. For the wandering Libyans, many of them at any rate, if not all -- concerning which I cannot speak with certainty -- when their children come to the age of four years, burn the veins at the top of their heads with a flock from the fleece of a sheep: others burn the veins about the temples. This they do to prevent them from being plagued in their after lives by a flow of rheum from the head; and such they declare is the reason why they are so much more healthy than other men. Certainly the Libyans are the healthiest men that I know; but whether this is what makes them so, or not, I cannot positively say -- the healthiest certainly they are. If when the children are being burnt convulsions come on, there is a remedy of which they have made discovery. It is to sprinkle goat's water upon the child, who thus treated, is sure to recover. In all this I only repeat what is said by the Libyans.
