Dear President Bush,
Good evening Mr. President. I am just a citizen in the United States and work the regular work week dutifully and follow the laws of the nation. I have respect for you, Mr. President, and all of the authorities above me as God mandates. I dont have money to donate to the Republican or Democrat parties and therefore do not have access to ask you or anyone at a high level to hear what I have to say.
Here is my plea: Please do something about the killing of our soldiers in Iraq, Afghanistan or anywhere else in the world. Please have the backbone and resolve to set a policy, make a statement about that policy and enforce the decree that you make. Yes, you may not be reelected next time. Yes, the world will explode in anger. Yes, a large number of people in the United States are going to be upset. Oh yes, a lot of very negative things are going to happen. Sometimes, to do what is right we have to sacrifice. Many men and women have already done so paid with their lives throughout the history of this nation as they are paying now. Let not that cost be in vain.
If you will do what is RIGHT and let the world know that they will pay an awful price for the killing of U.S. soldiers who have done nothing wrong to them, you will go down in history. The evil people in the world will fear when they should fear. They will be free of fear if they are willing to do what is right. An excellent proposal was posted on this web site tonight:
The individual made a suggestion basically along the following lines:
1. Give notice that if ANY U.S. citizen is attacked in Iraq or in any combatant zone, then an adjacent neighborhood will be annihilated within two (2) hours if the perpetrators are not turned over to U.S. authorities.
2. If a suspect is not delivered in the allotted time, wipe out the neighborhood everyone man, woman, child and animal living there.
3. If another attack occurs, then annihilate TWO adjacent neighborhoods. And so on
At first, this seems excessively cruel. It is not. We are trying to deal with a people on democratic terms based on OUR religion neither of which they understand at ALL. All they understand is that we do not have the will to do what is necessary to instill fear in the populace. If this culture first fears our forces, THEN we can begin to make changes on our terms. Until then, the killing will continue. We will eventually leave in shame. The whole episode has become a test of who has the will to instill fear. Our soldiers are going to have a total deterioration of morale if you do not act immediately. Nothing you can do will cause them to want to continue this fight. Soldiers are in the military for a single purpose to win wars. Watching their comrades die needlessly destroys any motive for winning the war they might have.
Please remember Mr. President, an unknown individual on this relatively unknown web site has come up with a brilliant solution. (S)he will probably remain unknown however, the concept is Biblical:
Ecclesiastes 9:11 I again saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift, and the battle is not to the warriors, and neither is bread to the wise, nor wealth to the discerning, nor favor to men of ability; for time and chance overtake them all.
Ecclesiastes 9:12 Moreover, man does not know his time: like fish caught in a treacherous net, and birds trapped in a snare, so the sons of men are ensnared at an evil time when it suddenly falls on them.
Ecclesiastes 9:13 Also this I came to see as wisdom under the sun, and it impressed me.
Ecclesiastes 9:14 There was a small city with few men in it and a great king came to it, surrounded it, and constructed large siege works against it.
Ecclesiastes 9:15 But there was found in it a poor wise man and he delivered the city by his wisdom. Yet no one remembered that poor man.
Mr. Bush, listen to the poor man. He may have a really good idea.
2. If a suspect is not delivered in the allotted time, wipe out the neighborhood everyone man, woman, child and animal living there.
3. If another attack occurs, then annihilate TWO adjacent neighborhoods. And so on
There are approximately 23 million Iraqis. Roughly 16 million of them want us there. Another 6.9 million are uncertain/don't know/don't care. The remaining 100 thousand are either enemies or are leaning that way.
The plan you have just described insures that, instead of 100 thousand enemies, we would have 23 million.
What purpose would be served by that?
What purpose would be served by that?
An interesting question. What purpose--or, more specifically, whose purpose--would be served by this?
It is time to do something rather unpleasant, but such is the nature of war. We had to do the same thing in Japan in World War II. Are you going to condemn Truman? Almost every man, woman, child and animal perished in Nagasaki and Hiroshima. It ended the war because they knew we meant business. No, I am not insane. Rather, I am a very determined individual. General Patton accurately stated,
"The purpose of war is not to die for your country. The purpose of war is to make the other poor bastard die for his."
Not a pretty philosophy...but the Axis were extremely afraid of Patton. They knew he meant business. If we are going to go to war, we need to put generals in charge who can win the fight and back them up. Or, we need to surrender or bring our troops home. Trying to apply liberal philosophy to war will eventually cause drastic losses.
2. If a suspect is not delivered in the allotted time, wipe out the neighborhood everyone man, woman, child and animal living there.
3. If another attack occurs, then annihilate TWO adjacent neighborhoods. And so on
This kind of war of attrition is precisely what the Nazis tried in the nations they invaded and occupied. If you'll read a little history, you'll appreciate that it didn't work and only strengthened the resolve of those who opposed them.
I don't like the loss of American life (civilian or military) any more than you do. All the same, the moment we resort to those heavy-handed tactics, we will cease to be a liberator and will instead be on the same moral level as the monsters we toppled in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Reconsider your position. It is indefensible.
Or we can talk about the deaths during WWII, when we had HUNDREDS killed every day.
How old are you? Why are you posting such defeatist and Nazi-like trash? Do you not understand that your solution would guarantee the loss of Iraq? Do you not understand that your solution is ethically repugnant?
Get a grip. Toughen up. Pray for the troops and stand by the military, which is doing a great job under trying circumstances.
Maybe so. We might have to fight MORE than 23 million Muslims. But the way it is going, we are going to have fight them anyway. Watch and see what happens when other Muslims perceive us to be without the will to fight and do what is necessary to stop the killing. It is only going to get worse. When U.S. soldiers can be wantonly killed and then dragged from their vehicle and mutilated...the killing will only increase. Watch and see.
I believe in taking action, not waiting for others to decide what action needs to be taken. Criticize all you want to...I don't care anymore. I have the nerve to post what I posted and I stand by it. So, if Jim bans me...so be it. If not, so be it.
I don't normally post this kind of opinion and don't normally hold it. However, something is going to have to be done or we are going to see worldwide killings of U.S. citizens by radical Muslims. Watch and see.
Mene is not insane. A little frustrated, a tad weird, but not insane.
