A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest! We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

A beautiful way to start the the weekend thread! A shame that none of the MSM will show pictures like this of our soldiers in Iraq.

Is Fear Healthy?
The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom. -Proverbs 15:33
During a severe thunderstorm, a mother tucked her child into bed and turned off the light. Frightened by the tempest, he asked, "Mommy, will you sleep with me?" Hugging him, she replied, "I can't, dear. I have to sleep with Daddy." Stepping out of the room, she heard, "That big sissy!"
Fear is real. But it's not always negative. In 2 Chronicles 17:3-10, we read about a healthy, positive fear that prevented neighboring countries from going to war against Judah. What had caused this fear? We are told that "the fear of the Lord fell on all the kingdoms of the lands that were around Judah, so that they did not make war against Jehoshaphat" (v.10).
A respectful fear of the Lord was also what King Jehoshaphat desired for his own people. So he made it a priority that they be taught God's Word. He knew that if the people were in awe of the Almighty, they would humble themselves and obey Him. Doing what was right would bring prosperity to Judah and respect from neighboring countries.
Proverbs 15:33 declares, "The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom." Those who fear Him act with wisdom; they walk faithfully before Him as they obey His commands. -Albert Lee
God dwells in light and holiness,
In splendor and in might;
And godly fear of His great power
Can help us do what's right. -D. De Haan
The right kind of fear will keep us from doing wrong.

Hard to believe it is 2 years since the Iraq campaign began.. time does fly... I want to thank you for the pictures each day that you post. I go daily to Texkat's operation thread & unless one makes an effort to go to that type of thread, one can completely miss the shots like you share. appreciate it

Yo billie and all.. It is sunny & warm (well for Ohio it is warm.. you southerns would freeze ) here today. Oliver is out on his chaise lounge stretched out & catching rays.
This morning for breakfast I put together something you all may or many not have tried...
for each serving, equal parts of small curd cottage cheese and vanilla or lemon yogurt. Slice on lots of fresh strawberries (leave out the sugar, don't need it) and lots of slivered almonds. I vary this with blueberries & raspberries in season & if I have some on hand, add a banana.
YUMMY and I think relatively healthy
I posted a "funny" at Amy's place. any of you pet lovers will like it. don't necessarily want to repost whole thing here.

Now I have one for ya:
Scientist vs. God
God is sitting in heaven when a scientist says to Him,
"God, we don't need you anymore. Science has finally figured out a way to create life out of nothing in other words, we can now do what you did in the beginning."
"Oh, is that so? Tell Me." replies God.
"Well," says the scientist, "we can take plain dirt and form it into the likeness of you, and breathe life into it, thus creating man."
Well, that's very interesting ... show Me, " says God.
So, the scientist bends down to the earth and starts to mold the soil into the shape of a man.
"No, no, no ..." interrupts God, "GET YOUR OWN DIRT."
