O'Reilly Factor Provides Free Republic Offending Comments Links

Edited on 08/01/2007 4:30:51 PM PDT by Admin Moderator. [history]

I received an e-mail today from the Fox News producer who booked me for the O'Reilly Factor last night. The links have been forwarded to Jim Robinson for review.

Jim asked me to start a thread with the links so that Freepers, and everyone else, could see for themselves what the fuss is about.

The Hillary Clinton stray bullet assassination comment was a very bad joke comment that someone posted two days ago. It was flagged last night after the O'Reilly Factor broadcast and was removed by a moderator. It is available for the time being in Google cache:

To: Virginia Ridgerunner I like my scenario better:

After eight years of the economy faltering, interest rates are 19%, 900,000 people are dead in Iraq since we left, taxes have gone up by 60% and Chile, Bolivia and Columbia are now Communist regimes, a stray bullet at a NARAL rally catches President Clinton and kills her.

As they take away Cindy Sheehan she screams why did she have to remove the troops? We were winning.

The next day the dow goes up 2000 points and closes at 2150.

Don't even bother trying to defend that one. Assassination jokes have no place on Free Republic. Yes, Cindy Sheehan has written of her fantasizies about killing President Bush--and she's not joking, but that's her problem. We're better than that.

The "homosexuals are dogs" comment is taken out of context. The actual quote is "Homosexuals are the modern day dogs in the manger." That was in reference to an article about proprieters in the U.K. not being allowed to deny hotel accomodations to homosexual couples on account of religious belief.

The American Heritage online dictionary gives this description for the phrase: dog in the manger, NOUN: Inflected forms: pl. dogs in the manger. One who prevents others from enjoying what one has no use for oneself. ETYMOLOGY: From a fable in which a dog prevented an ox from eating hay he did not want himself.

That comment was posted two days ago and has also been removed by the moderators. It is available for now in Google cache.

The "I hate blacks" comment was nowhere to be found in the other threads referenced.

The threads are about crime in the black community, gangsta culture and Jesse Jackson. Two of the threads are in the Smoky Backroom.

I was about to send stephenjohnbanker a FReep mail and this came up.

This account has been banned or suspended.

Why? Or am I permitted to ask that question?

I’m convinced O’Reilly doesn’t understand the difference between a chatroom and a forum.

I believe the term “Professional Moderator” means government oversight of the Internet to Mister “control freak” O’Reilly.

No plants and no need to change our moderating system. The moderators are fine. O’Reilly simply overstated or misrepresented his case. There was no statement threatening to Hillary, no “I hate Blacks” comment and no “homosexuals are dogs.” O’Reilly blew it.

= =

Thanks. That was my sense early on. Much appreciate your clear confirmation.

PLEASE keep on keeping on . . . FREEPERS and our beloved Republic desperately need you and FR more and more every day.

I just don't understand why, all of a sudden, O'Reilly is interested in FR after all these years?

The only thing I can figure is that he knows something that we don't. Someone is gonna put a case against him being so right wing. So he is attacking us now.

I just don't get it.

Wondering if his rating numbers are down and is Fishing for Freepers fans.

“Someone is gonna put a case against him being so right wing.”

I’d say that Sen. Christopher Dodd (D) did that fairly well when he accused O’Reilly of “not liking the ideology on DailyKos” tonite........very strange, since O’Reilly tends to wind up on the liberal side of what really matters, except for child molester/lenient judges stuff.

You did a yeoman's job with O'Reilly the other night - he can be a pitbull about issues, especially when he is trying to affirm his "NO SPIN" moniker. However, one way to keep the FR slate clean, and also to refute any accusations of "moonbatism" might be to keep a specific log of all offensive posts verbatim and to immediately suspend the accounts of said miscreant. Further review by a group of mods could determine whether the account should be permanently suspended or could be reinstated with a 'suspended sentence' status. As far as post #2's belief that "Most extreme posts are probably trolls anyway.", this can obviously be easily determined by their account start date and they can be banned permanently without prejudice.

"Standards? What standards. You have got to be kidding me. I post on here from time to time but I find a large number of people to be extremely hateful."
Links, please? I do not deny that from time to time there are a "few" hate-filled postings, but a large number? I find your "broad-brush" posting to be quite disingenuous and most certainly NOT representative of the vast majority of FR regulars. IMHO, this is a tactic that liberal-minded people use to tarnish the entire group when they don't agree with the general philosophy.

To: Jim Robinson; All

He definitely misrepresented his case and totally blew it.

Even in his letters segment last night, saying this place needs a full-time moderator.

I listened to some of his radio show yesterday, and he was making comments about how the internet slanders people and that there needs to be NEW LAWS TO POLICE THE INTERNET.

So what are his real intentions I wonder? /s

Bye bye BOR, you are permanently banned from my radio and television.

I don't routinely watch BOR but did see a clip of the show with Kristinn. Well, I saw a few minutes of the clip before I had to turn it off lest I fire off an offensive post re: BOR!

IMHO it was a set up and BOR should be ashamed of himself. 'I hate blacks' sounds more like something a 3rd grader (or DUer) would say than a Freeper.

Yeah, O’Reilly has good schtick. My untarnished admiration for him stopped with the story of him calling and sexually harrassing someone he worked with.

Bloviator? That’s how I see him. A 2nd rate bloviator.
