My Prediction if the Fairtax is passed

Posted on 09/22/2007 7:18:53 PM PDT by netvictory

Conservative Movement

Rush Limbaugh accuracy rating is lowered to 10% because he totally missed the biggest political paradigm change in history, which destroyed liberalism in America.

Democrat party fails to elect anyone to Congress because they opposed the Fairtax and kept trying to change it.

Union membership drops to less than 1% because Union leadership runs the Democrat Party.Joe Morecraft III and Walter Williams start a movement to replace the Fairtax with the head tax. No one listens or cares about the head tax, except for Rush Limbaugh who jumps on board. Rush's accuracy rating is lowered another 5 points.

Every Evangelical pastor, conservative leader and Republican candidate claims he was for the Fairtax when the Fairtax wasn't cool.

Christian Life

Christian tithing increases because people now have 22.65% to 34.65% more spending money in their paychecks. Church would then have more resources to spread the Word of God. The beginning of the largest and longest Revival occurs.

Resurgence in Christians Hospitals occurs, driven by the increase in church revenues, Christian thrift, and Evangelist community outreach both at home and abroad. Americans Christians become known worldwide for Christian Medical missions.

The study of Latin and Greek reappears in American as a part of a normal private school K-12 education. A restoration of Puritan values sweeps America as communities began devote their lives to promoting Crown Rights of King Jesus.

The Family meal time is restored because people want to save money, work at home, home school, or sends their children to private neighborhood schools.

The number abortions drop because women and families get more money in their prebate checks for each child in the family.

Pro Life supporters’ demand the Fairtax prebate starts at the point of conception and the limit on children in a family be removed. Abortion becomes obsolete and is banned.

Pastors under the Fairtax can say anything they want from the pulpit without fear of losing a tax exempt status, including endorsing candidates and political parties.

Membership in the Democrat Party or in a union is consider Satanic by most churches, and preached against in the pulpits of Evangelical Churches.

Almost every Bible Believing Church has a K-12 school they support or run.

Government

Americans learn the value of saving money and demand Congress and state legislators cut spending.

Elected officials now have twice as much time to address the spending side of government because the Fairtax, which has become the Third Rail of politics, can not be touched. The Sixth Amendment becomes obsolete and no longer talked about.

One half of the lobbyist in Washington and in every state capital lose their jobs and go home and look for real jobs because there is no tax code to play with.

Local and state property taxes are eliminated from the American society, because the Fairtax is a broader base sales tax then any current state sales tax, and it can replace both property and income tax systems at the same percentage rate of most current state sales tax.

The United Nations is kicked out of the United States. The League of Fairtax Nations takes over the building.  Nations must have a Fairtax and an American Bill of rights to join the new League of Fairtax Nations.

Home schooling and the number of private schools increase because education is consider an investment and not tax under the Fairtax.

The money spent on government schools is rolled into the state prebates checks because Americans began to despise socialism. Government schools become obsolete and Teachers Colleges go out of business across America. John Dewy spins faster in Hell.

Economy

Personal debt is no longer the number one marketed product in America. Most people have access to their prebate through a Debt card, and use it only in emergencies, automatically transferring excess money over to a mutual funded each month.

The average person who starts work at 15 years of age can retire by 35 years of age, with or without a college degree. Most college graduates go back to school by age 30 and have two or three different professional careers in their lifetime.

Everyone who wants a job has a job. The economy is booming!

Corporations are moving their headquarters and manufacturing back to the USA!

American products, for the first time in history, are shipped out of the country tax free.

American products, for the first time in nearly 100 years, have equal or better advantage in the American market place. Currently, idiots run the country.

We get to keep 100% of our paycheck! Currently, idiots run the country.

Social Security is on stable footing for the first time in years! It eventually becomes an obsolete government program no longer wanted or needed.

Medicare is paying its own way and is no longer in danger of default! It eventually becomes an obsolete government program no longer wanted or needed.

The Corporate taxes and costs of compliance hidden in both wholesale and retail prices no longer exist! Even with the Fairtax prices are nearly the same as before the Fairtax.

We love our monthly
prebate check! The lower income people pay no taxes because of this and the rest of us get a free ride up to the amount of the poverty level!

This means we can save more, faster and have more money available for education, home ownership and retirement!

We don’t have to fill out those stupid IRS forms anymore! We save a total of $250 billion or more (about 3% of the GDP).

The government wins too! They get the same amount of revenue they are used to getting! Currently, idiots run the country and want to keep the seesaw tax reform debate going and do not support the Fairtax. The Fairtax is not tax reform, it is tax replacement.

And guess who has to start paying taxes for the first time in their lives? Illegals, prostitutes, drug dealers, the porn industry, criminals, plus all of the other under-the-table transactions that take place! Currently, idiots run the country

The IRS and the tax code is eliminated, except as punishment for those who try and cheat on the Fairtax,.  It is later ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court because it is deem cruel and unusually punishment.

Note: Part of the list was stolen off a blog. My apologies to the owner of that blog.

Every single business now has a NEW BURDEN of being a sales tax collector for the federal government.

Businesses already do... Try not collecting FICA or SS for your employees, and not turning in W2s...

Since the Fair Tax is a sales tax charged at retail, the correct comparrison is on the sales taxes currently in place.

All retail establishments are already tax collectors for a sales tax.

Congress is faced with an incredible flood of cash, the largest they've ever had, as the ill thought out FairTax rate proves to far exceed government expenditures, leading to even more socialization with a New New Deal supporting liberals to one of the largest landslides in election history as people throw out the people who brought this inanely huge tax rate onto every purchase, everywhere.

This is the first I have heard this argument. All the other detractors claim that the 23% NRST rate is far to low to meet current revenue and it would have to be much higher.

I guess we could actually lower it!

Soft drink companies raised the price of a soft drink exponentially, including artificially sweetened drinks. When sugar prices returned to normal, guess what, soft drinks stayed at their high levels.

The 70's is a bit far back for my memory to go on prices. But I remember the early 80's and a 2 liter bottle of coke was 99 cents. I can buy it for 99 cents today as well.

The prebate ALONE is a communist agenda item. A prebate to each according to their needs, a prebate taken from each according to their abilities.

This makes no sense. Being that the prebate is the same for each person, regardless of age or income, how can your above statement be true?

How is it possible by now you don't understand people will not be paying taxes on income because the Fair tax will shift tax collection from income to consumption? Everyone will be paying taxes under The Fair Tax when they purchase a good or service!

You missed my point. My corporations will buy and sell everything I need, except for food. Everyone will do the same thing. REIT's will own the Real Estate, Transportation will all be leased, etc. etc. The only people who will pay taxes are the poor and theirs will be rebated back to them. The Government will get almost zero revenue. That is why the VAT taxes the goods as they are produced.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry considering you fail to understand the people are the government. They have the power to dictate to their politicians how they want their government run. Unfortunately apathy has allowed the income tax to evolve into a tool used more for controlling people than collecting taxes. Americans For Fair Taxation understand this concept and are consequently forming an increasingly strong grassroots effort forcing Congress critters to realize they either support fundamental tax reform with The Fair Tax or risk losing their jobs in upcoming elections.

Yes people dictate to their representatives how they want things run and they want handouts! It is only apathy from the taxpayers, the recipients aren't apathetic at all. The Congress Critters know that they won't get re elected if they don't bring home the bacon.

The income tax is precisely the problem. I find it curious you oppose the Fair Tax but fail to offer an alternative. The only reasonable explanation is you are in favor of maintaining the status quo income tax code. The question then becomes what advantages do you feel the income tax has over The Fair Tax?

I actually have a ton of alternatives once government spending is under control. Would you believe that if government spending was less than 10% of the GDP that Federal Taxation would not be necessary? If we could constitutionally limit Government spending and borrowing the problem becomes very easy to solve. It is when the Government taxes and spends the majority of the GDP that we have problems. No tax system will survive that kind of stress for long.

I only oppose the Fair Tax because I see it becoming an additional tax. The income tax when it was originally implemented was not a burdensome tax. It was only for the wealthy and they paid a very tiny percent of their income.

I propose that the solution is to limit Government spending to 5% of the GDP. Once that is accomplished the fair tax would be great : )

if double taxation is a problem now, consider when EVERY SINGLE raw material purchase is taxed along the production line.

The oil is taxed when made into plastic is taxed to make the switch is taxed when sold to the car maker is taxed when the car is sold to the consumer. QUADRUPPLE.

this statement shows you have no idea of what the fair tax taxes and when it taxes it. You are speaking of a VAT, which is nothing like the NRST.

For this post, I assume your $600 fee is on a contract basis and you get a 1099.

So your current tax rate is what? 15% for FICA plus income taxes. Which will both be eliminated. So for the same $600, after forwarding on the NRST, you end up with about the same amount of money if not more at the end of the day.

That is an out right lie. We will not keep 100% of our pay checks. We still have state taxes and benefit deductions.

I will grant you the state taxes. But what benefit deductions are you talking about that will remain? SS and Medicare? Nope. Those are eliminated by the Fair Tax.

Nope, my CPA has it structured so I pay a lot less than that. And he’s a conservative CPA, meaning his recommendations are much more safe than risky, so there are no shenanigans going on.

That’s a non-responsive reply to MY situation. Read my post again of you really want to answer.

Yes, it was. I was parodying the typical FairTax response.

Come on, this over simplification is “taxing”

State tax, 401k, medical, dental, vision...

Not 100% of paycheck by any means is kept, but that is what is implied in the rhetoric.

You guys need to stop sounding like a infomercial ad...

State tax, 401k, medical, dental, vision...

I think it is clearly implied and understood that your check will be free from federal withholdings.

Calling fair tax supporters liars because you will still have 401(k), medical, etc... still withheld is akin to calling them liars because your exwife has child support withheld from your check.

But that is not the rhetoric. People are not always that smart. They may assume such things are now paid by employer etc.

Advertising “Keep 100% of your paycheck” is simply misleading.

I think the fair tax is great. I also think no major reordering of the revenue system of this country will happen in our lifetime.

dvertising “Keep 100% of your paycheck” is simply misleading.

No it's not. Removing Federal withholding will almost get you to 100%. Anyone with a pulse knows this doesn't apply to state taxes, medical premiums and retirement plans.

Almost...

There’s the rub...

And again with the assumptions, you assume people all are thinking about those details when they see the pitch.

It will go a lot further it you guys will quit parsing terms and running sales pitches and just say what it does and acknowledge the weaknesses as well as the strengths.

We have a website that has a FAQ section that explains every aspect. Your predecessors on these threads have often used the same argument that you make. It was pretextual then and it's pretextual now. Come on, don't you anti's have a scriptwriter?

Yes, but in sales, it is first impressions. I have seen the FAQ and like I said over a week ago I am chewing the details from multiple resources. But bold initial claims and planting everyone that has an issue with the FairTax as an SQL or IRS lover is not helping, it reduces credibility.
