Tom DeLay Disses McCain, Calls New Hampshire Win ‘A Blip’
Fox News ^ | January 9, 2008 | Chad Pergram

Posted on 01/09/2008 12:08:26 PM PST by flattorney

John McCain’s win in New Hampshire did not impress former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay. Revealing a divide in the Republican Party between moderates and conservatives, DeLay slammed McCain in an interview Wednesday with FOX News. “There’s nothing redeeming about John McCain,” DeLay said. The Texas Republican added that McCain “does betray conservative principles.” When asked on which issues McCain was not a conservative, he said: “Mercy, there’s tons of them” and proceeded to list the Senator’s positions on the environment, immigration, the International Criminal Court, his support for affirmative action and taxes. He also called McCain a “hypocrite” when it came to lobbyists.

. . . .When asked about the divisions in the party between moderates and conservatives, DeLay said “I don’t think there’s a schism in the party. The party doesn’t exist. It’s rebuilding.” (Sad but true. The Federal GOP is a mess. – FlA)

Those are Obamas tribesmen. Seriously, visit the link I posted above. They are all Muslims burning Christians.

And Obama campaigned for their leader, Obama's cousin. Odinga, in 2006.

Obama got them all whipped up, like can do.

I think its an election issue.

How very true! A GOP that votes for McCain or Huck clearly is lost and leaderless.

Gee, Tom... maybe if you weren’t funnelling corporate money into your campaign accounts you might actually have a say in what’s going on.

Good riddance.

I agree with Tom also. Have you ever met anyone who would consider voting for McCain? I never have. I’m just wondering where his supporters (on the ground, not in the “conservative” media) might be.

We win when security conservatives, economic conservatives and social conservatives work together (like, Gingrich, Armey and DeLay did). Not when one faction pushes out the other two, and relies on the pork barrel to re-elect incumbents.

An interesting insight that probably deserves its own vanity thread and when you write it up after some careful study I hope you will ping me.

Robert Novak in his prince of Darkness autobiography commented on how Gingrich, once Speaker, laid aside adherence to his own conservative principles as merely means to an end, in Novaks opinion. (I paraphrase, but that was the essence.)

The is a lot to be said that the values of conservatism are often held too lightly by those in the political class who claim them.

I don't look as social, economic and anti-collectivistic conservatives as separate believers but instead, often separated by motivators, leaders and politicians that are too small in their outlook to strike the broad consensus.

>This means a whole class of democrats can change parties to vote for whichever republican is the kookiest.

Then they had best have already done that.

The last day to register was in December and, being that this isn’t some kooky state, there are no crossover, open primary votes here.

He is the enemy of all who love Liberty and our Constitution

Amen. I have heard his "straight talk" lately, and he hasn't changed one iota on the amnesty he supoorted and still supports, while attacking his rivals for calling it amnesty. He claims that now the amercian people don't trust the government, so the border will have to be secured first and then those here illegally will have to be treated "humanely", as if this country has ever been inhumane to anyone. The truth is, as soon as he gets a chance he and his pal teddy will resurrect the amnesty bill.

When I first came to Free Republic I didn't know much about McLame, and I didn't understand the intense animosity. Needless to say, I do now.

The Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary results prove Delay correct.

The winner of both contests on the Republican side dislike the Republican party and have actively worked to weaken it.

But if we can coalesce around Romney, we may be able to govern and rebuild at the same time

That's it. If Fred falters in SC, it will be time to rally behind Romney as the least objectionable of the viable candidates. The alternatives are too depressing to think about

Agreed 100%. I just hope Fred endorses Mitt when he finally gives it up. If he endorses McPain... yikes.

DeLay may be correct, but I’m not sure that he’s a guy who should be giving out lectures on other people’s redeeming qualities.

Thanks!

This Obama-Odinga connection gets more intersting by the hour.

I am waiting for this news to break about Obama - Odinga. Notice how there are teasers preparing for the spin," Obama in contact with Odinga to give advice", etc.. Obama was campaigning for Odinga in 2006. He was doing it so stridently that the government of Kenya complained about it. Obama can move crowds, as we know. And he sure got his fello Islamofascist Luo up into a head of steam. Civil war in Kenya?

Thanks Obama. Thanks a lot!

I'd say we have a pretty powerful election issue here!

Cheers! C7
