Bush had better get his head out of his ass before next month.
Illegals are a major problem in Ohio. If he attempts to aid them then he will lose this state.
There are a lot of conservatives who will stay home.
Sometimes I wonder if Bush REALLY wants to win this election ...

The White House is walking a fine thin line on this one. It may be that Bush is counting the Mexican vote to help him pull this one out and he fears alienating them with these bills.
Bush is trying really hard to lose the election.
Congress needs to distance themselves from this White house. Bush doesn't have the guts to veto it.
I say challenge him.
Looks as though somebody on the House side has learned the meaning of resolve and backbone.
It's true that few if any of us will change our votes because of this (who would we vote for, the poodle??), but the kind of active support he's going to need to get elected will be dampened by quite a lot. Suppressing this legislation is pure madness.
This is precisely the kind of thing that will cause me to have to hold my nose while voting for 43.
I did that with his daddy in '88 and '92, with Dole in '96, and with GWB in 2000.
Isn't there another Ronald Reagan out there, somewhere? Will we ever have a conservative candidate again, somebody outside the beltway-country club GOP establishment?
I'm way past tired of voting for "the lesser of two evils." I guess it's time to check out the Constitution Party website once more!

They don't appreciate illegals getting perks, etc. at all..

What is Bush's problem with stopping illegal immigration?
Bush is doing fine as a war president, but his thinking about closing the border is beyond me. This is bound to have an adverse effect on the man he picks to succeed him.
After Bush is elected it will be time to go after his immigration policies through the courts and the Legislature. If Bush won't stop illegals from entering this country the American people will have to go around him, and maybe the man who succeeds him too.

I wish Bush and his advisors who are misdirecting him would read the Federalist. And spend more time on FR.
I will NOT vote for Bush if this is not changed. Mexico should NOT be anything special. They (Mexico) sure as hell don't bend over backwards to help the US or its citizens.
Rove is probably a political genius, but this is not about politics. This is about keeping the country safe. This is the kind of thing I would expect from the 'rats, but not from the guy I thought was on our side (as opposed to the side of the French, the EU, the UN, and most likely the terrorists).
Sounds like Bush is afraid the Dems will use the bill's passage as ammunition against him..
He's probably right..
But they will do so no matter what is in the bill..
If it is changed as he wishes, they will simply attack him for laxness on "security" issues..
