President Bush: "We are dealing with one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." Push has appropriated vast federal resources to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

78,000 people are currently in shelters. New Orleans evacuation continues. 10,000 additional National Guard troops have been called to service.

Hospitals are running low on supplies, and public health concerns include water borne disease, poor sanitation, food and drinking water contamination and shortages, mosquitoes, carbon monixide poisoning from electricity generators, lack of childcare, and the special needs of the elderly.

Dog, that's great news that gulfcoast 6 made it out alive. I'm sorry they lost everything. Everyone I know from the Gulf Coast & New Orleans has lost everything but their lives. I am still waiting to hear what has happened to a couple of hundred of my friends and co-workers. I'm searching the media lost & found threads regularly.

Man! I sure HOPE Karl Rove is advising the President to do what's right, and not hemming and hawing away from responsibility, or filling him with some politically correct solution so as to not step on the toes of diversity for the next election.

We need leadership! We need the US military in full force! We must show the terrorists our cities cannot crumble like this internally were they, the terrorists, to set up a major terrorist incident in one of them (which we know they are planning).

No link since I'm at work in a pharmacy in Canton, MS.

I sat at a gas station for 4 hours yesterday in Ridgeland, MS waiting on the arrival of a tanker. It was diverted back to it's terminal.

Today, three local officials have come in to say that FEMA is seizing all gas supplies. Two local distributors called to back this up.

Is this a BRAVO SIERRA rumor or is this true? Can anyone back or bust this damned thing? I'm on empty as was everyone in line yesterday. A bunch of people are filling up their cars just to ride around in the air conditioner and are the ones making the runs on gas stations.

"I'm not sure it's anyone's fault -- I'm not sure it could be any other way at this point. We need the kind of logistical support and infrastructure only the Active Duty military can provide. The hospitals are in dire straights. The police barely have any capabilities at this point. The National Guard is doing their best, but the situation is not being contained."

I really hope all the keyboard quarterbacks will take note of this view from the ground.

I haven't heard a word about Justice Thomas. How about e-mailing FNC and having them ask around.

And I'm sure the folks who listen to country music would all be cool, calm, and collected. Guess you've never been to a Hank williams Jr. concert...

Let us be completely blunt here. If you want to find the worst part of just about any city, your best bet is that it will be clustered around a street named after Martin Luther King. That is just a plain, ugly fact.

Is it a genetic problem? Not on your life. But it is a cultural sickness that is most concentrated in the inner city. And the choice of music -- not to mention the exemplary lifestyles practiced by rap "artists" -- is a symptom of the sickness.

In iTunes, go to the Advanced menu and select "Open Stream..."

In the URL line of the window that opens, type in "http://66.209.70.155:8008/hurricane"

Hit OK. You will have a new item added to your Library that's called "hurricane". You may have to click on play (or double click on it repeatedly) until you can get a connection. If it doesn't play at once, don't be discouraged, the server is very busy. Try again later.

Once you connect, the name will change from "hurricane" to "Louisiana Scanner".

You may lose your connection after a while. Hit Play again until you re-establish connection.
