ACORN Throws Out Republican Voter Registrations
BigGovernment.com ^ | October 7, 2009 | Pamela Geller

ACORN wants people to register to vote – as long as they’re Democrats. Republican registrations go into the trash.

Here is a first-hand account of how it happens. In February 2008, Fathiyyah Muhammad of Jacksonville, Florida, heard that ACORN was paying people three dollars for each voter they could register. ACORN paid her three dollars for each voter she registered, but Fatiyyah Muhammad says that the group threw out her votes and fired her when she brought them registrations of Republican voters.

Fathiyyah Muhammad voted for Obama. “I’m a Republican,” she says, “and this was the first time that I voted for a Democrat since JFK…. I’m one of those rare birds, a black conservative Republican, and actually this is the black conservative capital of the country, Jacksonville, Florida.” She is an entrepreneur and a great American: she makes custom caps for her businesses Bilal’s Custom Caps and Only in America. She and her James have made custom caps for politicians, sports heroes, musicians, and others. “America,” she says, “is the place you can live your dreams if you work at it.” She’s a can-do woman with a great American spirit, and when she saw what was breaking in the news about ACORN, she came forward; I interviewed her Monday morning.

This is actually common practice, and not limited to ACORN. Those card-table registration volunteers you see outside your neighborhood grocery store every now and then? They are under no obligation to actually turn in your registration forms. They can turn in the ones they want and trash the rest. And they do.

I learned this years ago when living in Berkeley. It’s a sport. If you want to ensure your registration is legitimate, do the deed through your local registrar, not any private organization or volunteer unless you know them well.

JUSTICE DEPARTMENT COMPLAINT
January 7, 2009
IN RE: ASSOCIATION OF COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS FOR REFORM NOW

EXCERPT The undersigned State Board delegates and National Board members of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (“ACORN”) file this criminal complaint againstACORN Staff and Executive Board members for fraud, embezzlement, conspiracy and concealment, and criminal civil rights violations. Additionally, since there has already been thepublic admission that a felony was committed, it is also possible that other federal offenses have also been committed including but not limited to;

Title 18 U.S.C. §1341, Mail Fraud,

18 U.S.C.§1001, Presenting a False Document to the an Agent of the United States Government;

18 U.S.C.§1027 False statements and concealment of facts in relation to documents required by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 and other possible offenses including civiland/or criminal RICO violations.

18 U.S.C. §§1961-68 (RICO Act)18 U.S.C. §1001 (False Statementsto Agents of the U.S. Government),

18 U.S.C. §1341 (Mail Fraud),18 U.S.C. §1027 (ERISAViolations), and,

18 U.S.C. §241(Conspiracy Against Civil Rights).

Finally, the complainants contend that full investigations of a RICO conspiracy under 18U.S.C. §1962(c) are warranted because they assert that (1) the defendant persons (2) were employed by or associated with an enterprise (3) that engaged in or affected interstate commerce and that (4) the defendant persons operated or managed the enterprise (5) through a pattern (6) of racketeering activity, and (7) the complaints were injured in its business or property by reason of the pattern of racketeering activity. Thus, the complainants feel that a formal RICO investigation is also warranted.

In a shocking report, Elizabeth Kingsley, who is an ACORN attorney, expressed concerns that ACORN and Project Vote may have violated federal laws because of how they interacted. Project Vote, the Kingsley report says, hires ACORN to perform voter registration drives.. Project Vote is a 501(c)(3) federally tax-exempt organization, which means that it is subject to prohibitions on partisan political activity.

ACORN, however, is not subject to those same restrictions, because itis not federally tax exempt. Michael Slater, executive director of Project Vote, told the New York Times that,“Project Vote and Acorn have a written agreement that specifies that all work is nonpartisan.”

Kingsley, however, claims that the way records were kept made it impossible for her to tellwhether or not PV's money had, at the end of the day, been used for strictly non-partisan purposes. Until 2007, Project Vote's board was exclusively composed of ACORN staff. ?Kingsley said about this, "As a result, we may not be able to prove that 501(c) 3 resources are not being directed to specific regions based on impermissible partisanconsiderations."?Kingsley also claims that governance issues plagued the organizations, writing, "Board meetings are not held, or if they are, minutes are not kept, or if minutes are kept, theynever make it into the files.

"Several Project Vote board members claim that they were unaware that they served on Project Vote's board:? George Hampton, listed as a board member on federal tax filings from 1994-2006, said that he had never heard of Project Vote.? Cleo Mata, listed as a board member on tax forms from 1997 to 2006, also said she was not aware she was on the Project Vote board. Although ACORN represents itself as separate from its related or associated entities;these companies are in reality all ACORN. The entities share common goals, management, control, locations, financial management and interlocking directors and staff. (In a presentation to ACORN Funders, Steve Kest describes the Association or “ACORN Family” of as one corporation.)

More proof that indeed, Americans who reject Obama are the majority, but MSM special effects are making us all think we're the minority.

Liberal Democrats have to cheat to win because they lack the votes to be elected; the majority of legitimate voters reject them.

Obama would have lost in an honest election, and had elections been reasonably honest for the past few decades, the "middle" would never have migrated so far left as to accommodate him or the likes of McCain. Remember which side it is that says asking people to show photo ID for voting is unfair. Remember which side wanted to throw out the military ballots on a technicality in 2000. Americans know they don't even have to catch Democrats red-handed to understand that cheating is necessary to them.

Vote fraud is what elects liberal Democrats; the MSM is a necessary accessory.

Weird, because Demwits dead for years are still allowed to register.

Your home page and the letter to Innocent Fifth Columnists -- just Wow. Thank you. It's now a "favorite" for frequent reference.

Don't delude yourself with slogans and meaningless historical generalizations. It can happen here. It can happen anywhere. And a country's past history has nothing to do with it. Totalitarianism is not a new product of historical evolution. It is older than history. It is the attempt of the worthless and the criminal to seize control of society. That element is always there, in any country. But a healthy society gives it no chance. It is when the majority in a country becomes weak, indifferent and confused that a criminal minority, beautifully organized like all gangs, seizes the power.

Yipes. Written in 1941. The wisdom of the Christian bible and I think Jewish fundamentals is startling: they advise that loving God is each person's most important job; that love necessarily entails accepting blessings. Doing so is good for everybody. Poor Ayn Rand was a declared atheist. Her words and writings on Totalitarianism are gifts from God. Yet instead of being grateful to Him for Rand's eloquence, accuracy, and honesty, I know of many conservative Christians who stupidly dismiss all things Ayn Rand wrote. They'd do better for themselves and their children to remember their job and acknowledge God's gift with gratitude.

As far as I’m concerned, there should be a law against organizations that sign up voters. Any voter who isn’t interested enough to go to city hall and register, should forgo voting.

AMEN.

Yeah - 1941. It's not as the observant among us haven't see this coming. Von Mises' The Road to Serfdom has been out there since the forties as well.

It's not as if we didn't know or couldn't know. It's that too many of us didn't care.

It's not the fact that evil exists in the world today as it did then. It's that too many of us made our peace with it.

Now we all will pay.

“...proving that they threw away republican voter registrations would be as big as the pimp expose on FOX...”

John Stossel just signed on with FOX. I’ll bet you a donut that his first assignment WILL be ACORN.

I. Can’t. Wait. Tee-Hee! :)

We’ve got nearly three whole YEARS to ‘Swiftboat’ this administration.

Heck, we got rid of Kerry quicker than that! The more these morons over-play their hands, the better. And the money trail leads right up to The White House. Go figger. ;)

We’re well past the point that anything I learn about ACORN doesn’t surprise me.  They are so clearly a corrupt organization.  I hope the light of justice shines on them and destroys their criminal network, but will justice be served regarding this criminal organization with ties to Obama?

Thank you for the ping. Was it not the ‘civil rights’ act established for the very cause of some people doing whatever they could to prevent others from voting? How sacrilegious it is to now have this practice reinstated because another bunch of human beings can? There is no less wrong or evil by the reenactment of the first wrong or evil.

Well there are a number of blacks that claim to be conservative that chose skin color over principle in the last election.

Colin Powell and Armstrong Williams are two that come to mind quickly...

I’m thinking not. They’re pretty ineducable. At least the ones in MY family are, even when ‘teachable moments’ slap them upside the head, LOL!
