Walk-out by police

Police officers went on strike this morning and left the police station.

ARUBA – The police corps of Aruba walked-out this morning because they are not satisfied with the policy of the government. They were told that from now on, overtime will be paid partially.

In the past two weeks, police union SPA has been asking Justice-minister Rudy Croes (MEP) on numerous occasions to explain this decision and the idea behind it. Up till today, Croes has not reacted on the request and this was enough reason for the union to call meeting with its members

Pre-show call-ins:

Justinsmama: Asked what happened to the letter that Paulus supposedly had from Natalee - what happened to the investigation of it.

Mrs Red/SM:
1. Would like to ask Jossy about the episode where Julia Renfro jumped into the van and had them go to the courthouse, indicating that Natalee had been found. Dana will ask Joss but welcomed Julia to call in and address herself.
2. Mrs. Red asks if there is any truth to Julia writing a book. Dana says he will ask Julia that directly if she calls in.Dana says to Mrs. Red that Julia seems insincere and a "media hound". Seemed supportive originally but changed her tune.

Kat_Gram/SM: Asking if Jossy knows who was at the rock painting. Ask Jossy if anyone will step up in Aruba to change anything.

Spock (?)/BFN: Believes person named Carlos or Ramos has been detained for 5 weeks - does Jossy know about this. Second question is whether Freddie was involved around 3 am by the pond.

Calling for SunFreak2/SM: Ask Jossy where the investigation is heading (trial or cold case), and what do Arubans think about Paulus's civil suit against Aruba?

Caller from Dallas (Tidycat): Has police interviewed Lorenzo van Rijn - he had a home. Did they search only monther's home and not the other home where they hold raves.

Caller: Comments about Julia - believes she is sincere, has no motive. Would like to ask Jossy how he feels about the Kalpoe family. Julia has told this caller that Deepak is more guilty than Joran.

Dana - had Julia on the show and agreed to disagree on some items. The van incident was bad. Kalpoes have probably been told to keep quiet by their attorneys.

Red/SM: From personal standpoint, truely appreciate having Jossy on again - many emails. MSM has quick clips whereas Dana has longer program with straightforward answers without going through 3rd party, so fortunate. "So-called" media on the island - we have learned over the year to not believe all you hear.

Dana: The same is true of some of the main-stream media, not all intentionally try to send dis-information and maybe they get caught up in the spotlight.

Red/SM: Stopped using the media as an absolute source at the point that media indicated that Natalee had died. Would like to ask Jossy about handling of the case differently because it was Paulus Vand der Sloot - did the government not comprehend that the American people would not tolerate this happening. Is sure Dave would be having a tough day today on Father's Day without his daughter. We don't need an official boycott, as people know to put their money where their mouth is.

Dana: the old saying, if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it must be a duck.

Dana interview with Jossy:

Dana: Asked if Jossy thinks case will ever be solved

Jossy: Have not worked on in the last week, but overall are still working on the case. Whenever he speaks to KJ she seems willing and planning to take to trial.

Dana: Asked about rock painting. Also who was on the video.

Jossy: Rock painting - he instructed reporters to go out and find out about. Video was body of 7 year old boy buried there a year ago. Not identified, but belongs to a Columbian family who did not want to come forward - illegal, not money. One person in rock painting video is from Visibility Team (do not know name), and one with the technical dept of the police dept. Rock painting was to mark the spots. Part of body missing and they were to come back and search.

Two things bother Jossy regarding :
1. Belt that was found near there (by Art Wood, looks like belt in Joran photos)
2. Close to that rock, practically on it, Dave Holloway saw a police car with the trunk open and looking like something was being put in it.

Dana: Fabric that park ranger picked up, looks like part of Natalee's top. Came back as fishnet.

Jossy: Does look like what Natalee was wearing. They would need fabric to investigate, but that disappeared. What was given to the authorities -more than likely sent to Holland - just like bags of material from Joran's apartment that were sent - we have never heard again about.

Dana - about judgement

Jossy: Judgement will be given between now and July.

Dana - why have no charges been brought against casino, why none agains Paulus in regards to drinink/gambling underage.

Jossy - Should be charges as he was underage, many times accompanied by jis father. Father has been identified as being with him, by witnesses and by video tape.

Dana: Presecution and timeframe.

Jossy: Asking the same thing. Many interrogations, evidence but has been dragging along. WOnders why they are waiting. No time limit - stays open - suspects stay suspects for two years.

Dana: what if evidence comes up after two years regarding suspect.

Jossy: if evidence comes up after two years they can arrest them. Just need direct evidence after two years in order to bring them back in.

Dana: Julia's professionalism - hearng that she is writing a book. Is there any other media in Aruba with

Jossy: Can't comment on colleague, but she has been proven wrong many times. Best thing would be to just report the truth and not be so negative toward the family. Can't understand why she would write a book.

Dana: what is normal media day topics now

Jossy: Politics, labor situation, governments mismanagement.

Dana: What about ALE walking out

Jossy: Not happy about wages and benefits. Were looking into this at the beginning of the case. All of this had a negative impact on the case.

Dana: Are ALE wages in line?

Jossy: Police problems with current Minister of Justice since the beginning. They have school for the police, they are not well or poorly paid - have sufficient to get by on but sure get paid more as they are put in dangerous situations.

Dana: Would like Diario in English.

Jossy: Working on having most in English. Need the correct translators, etc.

Dana: Diario, Bondia, Amigo nor MSM media reported the 7 year old death.

Jossy: It was reported but details not provided while being investigated.

Dana: Supposed letter that Paulus received from Natalee.

Jossy: Is just nonesense.

Dana: Carlos in custody for 5 weeks?

Jossy: Carlos is a witness that came through another lady that works with a newspaper - had friend that came to Jossy and told Jossy story that he was at home and had discussion with wife in Columbia - he went to beach past lighthouse, fell asleep in bushes in that area - woke by woman sreaming "NO" and other words. He then heard it become silent, saw someone go to trunk of car and then out into ocean with body and then came back alone after a period of time. Has two pieces of evidence - hope they are analyzed and answers will come back for a change.

Dana: AMW follow-up on tips?

Jossy: many tips but none must have been useful as nothing contributed in any way to investigation.

Dana: Lorenzo van Rijn - several homes, one searched - what do you know?

Jossy: Half-brother of Joran, has a boat, lives in secluded area of island, is close to Joran. Mentioned quite often in relation to the case.

Dana: Caller last week about complete VDS property, later caller said was not searched.

Jossy: Apartment of Joran searched and took quite a few things, but not the main house. There is a well, etc. and even Tim Miller was not allowed to search. They never have had permission to search the property and Jossy does not thing the main home was searched. Need search warrant, hasn't been asked for.

Dana - future of case?

Jossy: Gag order so hard to get information. KJ takes calls from outside of Aruba, but not normally in Aruba. She doesn't say when it will go to trial.

Dana: What do you think happened?

Jossy: Natalee was harmed by one or more of these three suspects. They know very well what happened to her - did not take her to HI or beach, took her to Joran's apartment. They have said bad thing happened, and also that police car conversation about 16 years if they find out.

Dana: Kalpoe involvement?

Jossy: Thinks one of the them will talk sooner or later. Why would they invent all these stories. Know they went to Jorans. Know they did not go to lighthouse to see sharks at night and where they are never seen.

Callers after Jossy was off the air:

Caller: Rock painting follow-up. Multiple reports, some about the 7 year old, some about a sign being constructed. Is 30-40 foot area so none of those seem to fit.

Dana: Jossy is relaying what he is being told, but he will continue to investigate.

(Dana commenting on the fabric looking like Natalee's shirt and not fishnet. Also evidence that we never hear about again.

Caller: Can journalists can get search warrant copies, legal documents.

Dana: Some info out because it was leaked. Will ask next time he is on.

As many of you here know, I spend a lot of time reading through transcripts. I believe it would be beneficial to have some quotes taken from interviews Beth did after the 3 were let free, just to refresh our memories.
I am going to attempt to post quotes from an interview each day, as time permits.

Back to Beth Twitty, Natalee`s mom. I want to talk to you about the prime minister`s statement, the Aruban prime minister, who went public and stated there was blood found in the car. Remember?

BETH HOLLOWAY TWITTY: Absolutely. That`s what I would love to know. On June 11, he states on international media in front of me -- I had no idea what he was about to disclose -- that there was blood in the Kalpoes` vehicle, there was DNA, there was blood. Where is that? Even (INAUDIBLE) went so far to cut interior portions from the car -- the back seat, the ceiling. You know, what happened with that?

GRACE: Now, Ellie (ph), didn`t we find out later another statement was issued saying there wasn`t any blood?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Exactly. We had heard there was never any DNA evidence of any kind retrieved from the car.

JUG TWITTY--Somebody -- you know, that`s the reason there`s no evidence. Had they gone to the -- and impounded that car that day -- the FBI told us there was blood all in the car. The prosecutor said the FBI said there was blood in the car. But for some reason or another, when they sent it off, they say now it`s all cleaning fluid. Well, who knows. I know they had nine days to clean the car.

Jossy, regarding the connection, what I perceived to be a close connection between the judge, Paulus Van Der Sloot and the retired chief of police who initially handled Natalee`s case, Van Der Stratten, were they friends?

MANSUR: Of course, they were friends. It stands to reason they were friends because Paul Van Der Sloot had many friends within the police department; he had many friends within the Department of Justice. And he had many friends with -- and he was friendly with all the judges in Aruba. He worked out of the same office as they did and did the same work.

GRACE: And I want to quickly go to psychoanalyst Bethany Marshall. Bethany, after watching all of Joran Van Der Sloot`s interviews on "A Current Affair" one of their producers tracked him down at the university. What do you make of his demeanor?

BETHANY MARSHALL, PSYCHOANALYST: I just think sociopath, sociopath, sociopath. I mean he has a derisive attitude towards the victim. He viewed Natalee as an object to be exploited. He had disregard for the rules of society. But the interesting thing about sociopaths is not only do they lack regard for others, but they are often unconcerned for their own safety.

And because of that, they tell very shabby, shallow lies. So I think the person who is going to crack this case wide open is Joran Van Der Sloot himself because over time, he`s going to forget -- once the pressure is off, he`s going to forget the consequences even more. He`s going to brag to somebody and the truth will come out.

You know it`s amazing to me and Alan Ripka just pointed out, Beth, that the judge refused to allow anyone to search his house and that Joran Van Der Sloot ultimately quit talking. The day after all of this happened, while you were out combing the island, they called a meeting, a meeting at the pool behind the judge`s house of lawyers, the Kalpoe family, Joran Van Der Sloot, his father, for what?

BETH HOLLOWAY TWITTY: What he was doing was helping the boys get their stories straight, Nancy. He was instructing the boys how to get your story straight. If all stories match, in 10 days you will be free.

GRACE: And what about the hard drive?

BETH HOLLOWAY TWITTY: Well he also told the guys once they got their stories straight to begin e-mailing this and then use your hard drive to nail an alibi.

GRACE: And not to use your cell phone.

GRACE: Incredible while you were out walking the beaches looking for Natalee they are devising their defense strategy. Of course they claim they know nothing about the case.

It's heartbreaking to review all the BS the Holloway and Twitty families suffered. Jug had them nailed as corrupt early on. It had to take a lot of self-restraint for Jug to listen to their lies and not slap them in the face with his information proving them liars.

That does sound like a plausible scenario. For sure we know of FOUR individuals who were DIRECTLY involved in this murder and clean up and then "cover up"!! What a total disgrace this has been and Aruba will continue to pay a big price as long as it continues to attempt to cover up. In fact, I might go as far as to say that even if Natalee is ever found, Aruba will likely never recover to "before Natalee"!!

In Natalee's case I figure she is NOT in Venezuela. I believe the FBI told Beth and Dave on June 10th that Natalee was dead. Even ALE has confirmed that.

I'm more inclined to believe what Jossy Mansur says about the decrease in tourists than anything that is posted out of Aruba. These people are the most honest in the world are they? ( You don't say??)!! *grin*

Didn't Jossy say that tourism was down some 30%????

I think it turned out to be hotel room stayover nights were down 30%. Number of people departing the airport was down 12% IIRC.

i do accept that death is the probable reality, but until there is a confession or a body, we cannot close doors to any potential of the case...the FBI told amy bradley's parents she ran off with some band guys and would be home soon...and for $20 in south america you could have shared 15 minutes with her for years, so wise to keep backup just in case

it is surprising that these kids are able to get away with murder (99.9% for certain they killed her or know who did), but their cocky and arrogant manner always made me think they were relying on an awareness she was alive and never could be tried for murder...those thoughts have faded, but to entirely give up hope when we know the amy bradley story would be an enormous error in reaching a final conclusion, even if it is only .01% of a possibility

The words No body, No crime make it very difficult to keep any hope. I don't believe those words would have been used in the Amy Bradley story.
