Lets try 1776 and see if they agree.

Ronald Reagan won 49 states, not 44.

Can I repeat 2017 for ~20 years?

President Reagan was elected in 1980, and reelected in 1984.

Both were landslides. 44 states in 1980, and 49 states in 1984

Sure do miss Ronaldus Magnus.

Reagan won 44 states in 1980. He won 49 states in his next run in 1984.

And could have won Minnesota but he felt bad for Mondale so he didn’t campaign there.

That was 1994. Jennings wasn't ABC World News Tonight anchor until 1983.

Well I say that unhappily. Because it would be horrible on many levels.

I’ve repeated history, it wasn’t as bad as repeating algebra.

I liked both your post and your follow up.

The problem I see is that while we haven’t ye tmanaged to repeat 1776, we did repeat 1976 in 2008 and it took 8 years to get the backlash, rather than four, and then (arguably) we did it again with Jimmy Carter III only four years later.

Full me once, shame on you, full me twice, shame on me.

Like all sequels, things are tending towards parody. At least Jimmy only committed adultery in his heart and, whatever else you want to say about the rabbit abuser, he felt bad about the adultery.

“That was 1994.”

Right. And Jennings was talking about the voters giving the republican’ts control of the House for the first time in something like 70 years.

Reagan was the last real conservative president we had.

Agreed. The people advocating for a revolutionary war have never been in a war zone and believe it will be sunshine and unicorns at the end.

America was lucky. We had some very wise men give birth to this nation.

What we do need is the 1776 mindset. Freedom, resistance to government overreach, pushing back on abuse of power, holding tyrants accountable.

Yeah, a little 1776 would be a very good thing.
