The Professional Golf Association of America canceled the 2015 Grand Slam competition for this years major champions.
In March the PGA struck a deal with Donald Trump to play the tournament in October at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Citing controversial comments made by Trump, the PGA announced a withdrawal from the agreement in July.
Now, two months later, the PGA canceled the Grand Slam entirely, claiming they could not provide a venue in time to meet the highest standards of the association.
Sporting News reported that this years 36-hole exhibition included 2015 major tournament winners Jordan Spieth, Jason Day, and Zach Johnson, plus 2014 winner Martin Kaymer.
The PGA fell in lockstep with Univision, Macys, and companies in severing ties with the real estate developer, television personality, author, and 2016 GOP presidential frontrunner based on his comments about illegal immigration.
Trump said on a campaign stop earlier in the year regarding illegal aliens, Theyre bringing drugs. Theyre bringing crime. Theyre rapists and some, I assume, are good people. The remarks prompted a call for apologies from Trump, but he stuck by the comments. To illustrate his argument, Trump frequently points to the fatal shooting of 32-year-old Kate Steinle this summer in San Francisco at the hands of an illegal immigrant.
Since the Macys boycott of Trump products, the department store received complaints from approximately 30,000 customers for ending its relationship with him. TMZ reports many of the customers cut up their Macys credit card to make a statement that the store unfairly punished Trump for his views on immigration.

What Trump should do is host a golf outing on those dates for wounded vets...turn it into a big event..a fundraiser for some good cause related to vets..maybe the one that builds them homes...it would be HUGE...and then he could ask the PGA to donate the prize money from the cancelled event

They have painted themselves into this lose-lose corner.
Pro Golfers do not like having their training time wasted.

Et tu, PGA? Why can’t sports orgs stick to sports? I blame the myriad of leftists demanding everyone bend to PC and I blame the PGA for not saying “ we just do golf.”

There’s only one word to define the PGA and its’s as forbidden as the N word. It’s known as the C word. Add another point to his poll numbers.
To: ken5050
Since this is a political statement by a tax exempt group, when Trump gets elected he should take steps to have their tax exemption removed. The PGA is a big money making machine, pays big salaries and obviously picks sides in political theater.

This is dumb. Remember when golf was totally apolitical. Remember South African golfer Gary Player on the tour during the boycots?

Good idea.
I didn't realize the PGA was headed by the Left. I recall when NFL was going to boycott Arizona just because the state defined marriage between a man and a woman. NFL won its demands because then Governor Jan Brewer was a gay marriage supporter and gave in to them. Her actions no doubt inspired others on the left.

Great idea you have. Let’s hope somebody who has the ability to put this together steps up and makes it happen.

I’ll take a guess. It is like can’t except with a different vowel. Am I close?
