New BBC TV series “Troy: A Fall of a City” shows Achilles as African

The absurd, ahistorical Black Athena theory, which had posited that ancient Greeks were of African descent has been thoroughly debunked on numerous occasions in the past, protothema.gr notes in the following report: But it seems the proponents of this baseless view are attempting to peddle the same nonsense once more. This time via the entertainment route.

Achilles, the ancient Greek hero of the Trojan War is one of the chief characters in the plot portrayed by a black actor in a joint BBC and Netflix multimillion-dollar mini-series expected to air in 2018. The series, called “Troy: The Fall of a City”, focuses on the war between the Greeks and the Trojans around 1,300 BC and the abduction of Helen of Sparta by the Trojans which led to the mythical conflict. Some photos of the cast were recently released showing David Gyasi, a 37-year-old actor from the UK of African descent in the helmet of the mythical hero and greatest warrior of the Mycenaeans, Achilles...

But the creators of the series did not stop there. They decided to cast two other actors of African descent for principal characters in the show. Lemonga Tsipa will play the cousin of Achilles, Patroclus, while another British actor of African origin, Hakeem Kae-Kazim will portray a key figure in the plot, Zeus.

Let us not be quick to impute any sinister intentions here. It could be that some historical consultant at the BBC and Netflix was not driven by any biased interpretation of history based on their postmodern, politically correct views...but rather had a “bad” day translating Homer’s “Iliad”, where the ancient Greek epic poet clearly describes Achilles as blonde...

Well, it “worked” with “Hamilton”, right?

The left has always been fond of rewriting history....

I’d think they’d be happy not to portray a bunch of goofy savages.

I always thought Troy was in present day Turkey, but hey, what do I know? Achilles probably really was an African. (Sarcasm off.)

Five thousand years ago, you would have found it in Anatolia, around the SW side of Turkey. I don’t have a problem in making Achilles some Congo guy (it’s pretty silly but fine). But why stop there? Why can’t Odysseus be French? Why can’t Helena be Latino?

I’d just like for kids to pick up Homer’s story (the Iliad), even as the comic book version, and get the jest of the war and consequences over personal decisions having to be made.

Good post, I to read The Iliad. [Groan] On propaganda, people in the entertainment business know that even if adults don’t want to watch a show, children will. And their mothers will put them in front of it.

And the women’s studies Chairperson begged the question, “We got ‘em in education, didn’t we, girls?” And now in entertainment, politics, boardrooms and all. Their half-big umbrella strategy succeeded, just as it is probably about to bring economies and nations down with its weight.

LOL! Yes. Black hair roots are common there now, but populations have done quite a bit of migrating since then.

Helen of Troy will be played by a transsexual with a New Jersey accent.

Slightly off topic...

The USA Census Bureau actually classifies immigrants from North Africa and the Middle East as “white” unless they request to be classified as Black or Asian.

I’m just wondering if the program meets that quota for same-sex kisses?

Hey, you have at least one black in all commercials, movies, tv shows, game shows, Robin Hood movies, etc., so why not. History don’t mean nuttin’.

Reminds me of a Broadway production, long ago, of ‘How Green Was My Valley’, which depicts a Welch mining town of the 1920’s. Original movie Had Walter Pigeon and Maureen O’Hara. Also introduced Rodney McDowell as a child actor. In the Broadway version, O’Hara’s part was played by Cecily Tyson! It didn’t work, for some reason and the run was short...

And the upcoming Les Miserables miniseries has the French Jauvert inexplicably played by a black actor.

That is interesting but not historical. Recently discovered records indicate that the “Trojan Horse” was actually rabbit-shaped.

I prefer the 1956 epic version, HELEN OF TROY.

Well, Menelaus and Helen, on their way back from TROY, did end up in Libya for a while. He was NOT killed at Troy like the latest movie version showed.
