A Native American man in Montana has what may be the oldest DNA native to the Americas, according to news reports.

After getting his DNA tested, Darrell "Dusty" Crawford learned that his ancestors were already in the Americas about 17,000 years ago, according to the Great Falls Tribune, a Montana newspaper.

When I studied anthropology in the 80’s the “settled Science claimed the earliest north Americans could be no earlier than 11.5 thousand yrs bp.

This was based on Clovis artifacts and the known age of the ice free corridor leading from Alaska down to the lower 48. Since then, well documented sites of early man that pre-date Clovis have been found and confirmed. When I started studying Geology, continental drift had just moved from the conjecture to the most likely category. Scientific knowledge continues to advance, despite the fact that these days there are many political detours along the way.

The company Cellular Research Institute (CRI) Genetics traced Crawford's ancestry back 55 generations with 99% accuracy

Not exactly. Probably written by someone who believes in Climate Change and knows that San Francisco will be flooded before the end of the Trump Administration

This group is one of the four major Native American groups in North America. These groups are traced back to four female ancestors: Ai, Ina, Chie and Sachi. Crawford appears to be a descendant of Ina.

This part is mostly nonsense. No such women named Ai, Ina, Chie, and Sachi existed. A mathematical extrapolation for mDNA was examined to determine the earliest ancestor for the haplogroups for Native Americans. Crawford shares the haplogroup with the mythical Ina, but it doesn't mean much more. He probably has some Neaderthal DNA also, but we're not sure because Ug did not leave a will.

RE: Nat.Am. from "the stars" Well, if you go back far enough, that’s not entirely incorrect.

The leftist Cosmos egghead Carl Sagan said "we are star stuff."

As a kid I asked someone if the "dust" in stellar dust in space was special or if it was just like our earth dust. He said just a form of regular dust. Then I thought "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust" and God created us out of dust. To a kid--wow stuff.

Seems legit.

Yea, right? How do they have the names/people to go back that far? Especially with Tribal Americans, they don't have much of any written history to have any lineage knowledge. Or, did they just find his DNA was somewhat close to one dude they found in the ice, so the 55-generation trace is actually five generations and a 50-gen jump?

Crawford shares the haplogroup with the mythical Ina...

That would explain how they got 99% accuracy. Is that like Saddam getting 99% of the vote?

They know not to claim 100%, otherwise somebody just might become a tad suspicious.
