Archaeologists have found an astonishing piece of Neolithic artwork that was buried for 4,500 years.
The stone creation - which is decorated on both sides and has been described as one of the ‘finest ever’ to be found in Britain - was uncovered last night on the Ness of Brodgar in Orkney, Scotland.
It was found at the base of the south-west internal corner of the Neolithic ‘cathedral’ at the site, which covers 2.5 hectares and is believed to have been occupied from as early as 3,500BC....

Where did these people come from? If they’re there was the surrounding countries i.e Denmark, Norway, Sweden also inhabited then?

I am still convinced that the petroglyphs in Southwestern US were the result of Cave Mom saying to her kids, “Go play in the rocks with the other kids!”
You should see what the Egyptians were doing 5000 years ago, or Gobekli Tepe in Turkey long before that. I can’t get too excited about a stone with some straight lines incised on it.

In the first photo, that big “N” at the top stands for “NEOLITHIC”.

People most likely followed the retreating glaciers into the newly habitable lands. When sea levels rose, those in England/Scotland and Ireland were cut off until they created seaworthy watercraft.
No..........I think those are primitive playing cards. They didn’t have paper yet. That’s the deuce of diamonds they’ve found. Can’t wait to see the whole deck. No wonder so many of those people, especially poker players, had hernias.
You beat me to it. All these finds remind me of an old Readers’ Digest story about future archaeologists finding a temple with a guy worshipping a big square thing. Turns out it was some guy in a hotel room watching tv.
