The HBO series "Rome" really fell apart in season two, but having a Roman historian involved as a consultant resulted in decent authenticity in the look and feel (important even though the entertainment industry doesn't make documentaries). One such really cool inclusion was the rotund town crier, sponsored by the guild of millers.

The toldinstone guy makes a lot of vids, they tend to be excellent and cover every nook and cranny, and even with these 1950s-style integrated sponsor messages, well worth watching. And the sponsor messages are easy to skip. IOW, don't write in about it, okay?

This source has some recent vids on ancient coin collecting, and Roman dog breeds, btw.

My pleasure. The Morning Brew segment is the current ad. I got the guy's book recently, haven't cracked it yet.

I found the geometric design at the bottom of the relief interesting. Looks like 4 little Swastika embedded in the design. I wonder if that’s where Adolf got some inspiration.... :0)

It’s obvious that the Romans were Nazis.

"The Guild of Millers. True Roman bread, for True Romans."

Thanks for posting this thread. I'm due to binge-watch Rome again. Been a few years.

If the world was destroyed and revived without benefit of the past designs...they would occur again...the wheel would be invented and we'd eventually wind up right where we are on the intelligence graph.

It is my belief that the brain holds all knowledge...and just needs to be prodded. It's the only thing that makes sense.

It's why Climate Change BY MAN doesn't make sense.

Same here. I loved how they managed to wrap up the series on an up note, after all that post-set-fire nonsense script-spewing of season 2, so I generally skip a lot of that. “About your father...” what a great finale.

I really was kinda joking about it. Just a geometric design of right angles, and I’d agree they’d come up again even with no prior knowledge/exposure. This article example is not even remotely as intricate as some of the Celtic designs I’ve seen and have on some of my leather stamps. :0)

The Romans were not good people, that’s for sure.

Ambitious and capable yes. But not good.

They had “podium” casts, or Podcast for short.

And of course the Etruscans invented Etruscan mail or E-mail.

You could listen to your Podcasts on your “imperator” Pod, or iPod.

You’re welcome.

The Romans continued the practice, going back into prehistory, of using Blackberries for that kind of thing. Of course, they had stains on their fingers and hands when they got done...
Rimshot!

Yeah, all of ‘em should have been rounded up and, wait, what?

The Romans were no more good or evil than any group that has ever walked the Earth.

LOL! I noticed the same thing. Saw the same pattern in a movie, Jason and the Argonauts, last night.
